  1. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 23, 2013 -> 12:41 AM) what has he done? He's got a potentially great arm. But he hasn't show the consistent ability to control it. He had some clutch relief appearances and a couple of good starts this season and now he's the golden god? I don't get it. As you said, he potentially has a great arm. That's a lot more than anyone besides E. Johnson in the farm system. He's also not been given the chance to develop as a starter.
  2. Damn, great AB for Konerko. Sox not getting the breaks so far tonight.
  3. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 23, 2013 -> 12:35 AM) hy·per·bo·le /hīˈpərbəlē/ Noun Exaggerated statements or claims not meant to be taken literally. Synonyms exaggeration - hyperbola - overstatement You don't think Santiago's one of the most valuable assets?
  4. QUOTE (Jake @ May 23, 2013 -> 12:34 AM) You're giving him no credit for his ability to deal with failure. Let's assume he knows how to have a bad outing and not let it give him "doubt and trepidation" Santiago's comments last night weren't exactly optimistic.
  5. Wow, De Aza running with a piano on his back?
  6. The decision to start Santiago tonight ranks up there with starting Cotts in New York, etc. Just a complete failure by the organization. I don't even care about the results, but rather Santiago's long term future. This is an awful lot of stress to put on his arm. The organization is treating him like a 40 year old Terry Mulholland.
  7. Surprised at how few people are at the game.
  8. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 22, 2013 -> 09:56 PM) What's the current thinking on the team? The decent start was giving false hope? That they're returning to what was expected? What about Ryan's performance, trying to undo the damage of the Bill Smith years? What's the patience level? Obviously, Aaron Hicks is the player to be most concerned about, in terms of how long they keep him at the major league level. How are the youngsters like Sano and Buxton doing? Gibson? Their other top pitching prospect? They're incredible, could very well end up #1 and 2 prospects in all of baseball.
  9. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 22, 2013 -> 08:27 PM) refresh my memory on what happened with that again? Santiago didn't know he'd be starting tonight and went through with his normal bullpen session routine. Based on his comments, it seems he wouldn't have thrown yesterday if he knew he was starting today.
  10. QUOTE (Jake @ May 22, 2013 -> 09:20 PM) It's 3 days of rest people. It isn't optimal, but far from a catastrophe. Lots of pitchers do this occasionally It sounds like it's the bullpen session he had yesterday that's the bigger concern.
  11. Pretty cool to see Stetson Allie putting up monster numbers with the bat.
  12. Yes please to a postponement for tomorrow's game. Don't want to empty out the bullpen two straight games with Santiago going on 3 days rest (and throwing a bullpen today) and then Danks on Friday night.
  13. Mike Trout is good
  14. Hell yes, that was fun
  15. Wow, Casper Wells with shades of Jason Michaels!
  16. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ May 22, 2013 -> 03:54 AM) It is f***ing pouring Time to take advantage of a huge strike zone hopefully
  17. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 22, 2013 -> 03:53 AM) I don't think anyone knows 100%...just rumors. They weren't good enough (as rated prospects at the time) to overcome Maybin and Miller. What they later became (or didn't) is pretty irrelevant. IIRC, Gio and Fields would have been included.
  18. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ May 22, 2013 -> 03:51 AM) Him and Maybin. Should have taken the Sox's offer in hindsight, but Miller & Maybin were big time prospects back in the day. What was the Sox offer?
  19. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ May 22, 2013 -> 03:49 AM) Wasn't miller the main piece in the Cabrera trade, that didn't work too well for the fish. And Maybin
  20. Non Sox, but Arencibia's 54/2 K/BB ratio makes me giggle
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 22, 2013 -> 03:39 AM) Tonight is a perfect example of what I am talking about. The Sox can't trust anyone in the 7th, so they have to run Crain out there to put out the fire. Now in the 8th, they have to trust Thornton and Lindstrom, which just about blew up in their faces. They didn't trust Hector when he was a reliever to start the year it seemed, as he pitched in 5 out of 6 games that Sox ended up losing.
  22. Get ready to hear the term NINTENDO STUFF
  23. Still just under 22k tonight
  24. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 22, 2013 -> 03:44 AM) so what's up with Thornton. Is he just done or in a funk? He was doing well earlier. Facing a team with good patience
