QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ May 5, 2013 -> 09:28 PM) I'd like for the Adam Dunn experience, or experiment to be done. I want a brand new 1B/DH combo

QUOTE (iamshack @ May 5, 2013 -> 09:23 PM) Should have pounded Butler inside off the plate again...let Dyson beat us before Butler You knew we were in trouble with how he took that 2-2 slider just off the plate.

QUOTE (JoshPR @ May 5, 2013 -> 09:22 PM) Brutal! Reed was shaky in Texas too I'll never understand why he doesn't throw his change-up more.

Picked a bad time to throw his worst slider of the season. Of course, that's what happens when you walk the 8 and 9 hitters. Reed got away with hanging offspeed pitches to Gordon and Escobar.

Reed is all over the place. Not sure why Gimenez is setting his target so low.

QUOTE (iamshack @ May 5, 2013 -> 09:59 PM) Just to continue on with a discussion Fathom and I were having via PM...for you guys in favor of rebuilding with prospects....has anyone considered just rebuilding with some veterans instead? I suppose that is called "retooling." The Red Sox this year are a perfect example of that (with an unlimited budget though), and I would suggest the 2005 White Sox did a fantastic job of this as well. The hardest thing to acquire is pitching, and thankfully the Sox have some good depth there and can afford to dangle Peavy, IMO.

QUOTE (Jake @ May 5, 2013 -> 09:57 PM) Nope, but you do develop power hitters. Luckily the guy that should hit like a 1B can play the OF too With all due respect to marty, he's the only one on here that really pushes for the Sox to get rid of Viciedo.

Nice job by Crain, he gets a lot of outs on high offspeed pitches.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 5, 2013 -> 09:42 PM) I don't know that Lindstrom would have been ready, I thought they said he was just getting up just as Thornton finished his warmups? Gotcha, thanks

Keppinger bails everyone out with nice defensive play. Lindstrom with some big DP this week.

Someone want to explain why Thornton was left in for Escobar, considering he bats almost .380 against LHP?

QUOTE (iamshack @ May 5, 2013 -> 09:35 PM) Why would you not trade Sale? Cause if you rebuild and aim for 3-4 years from now of competing again, he's still signed at an affordable contract. When you see a team like the Cubs sign Edwin Jackson for as much as they did in hopes of having him on a competing pitching staff down the road, it makes you value someone like Sale more.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 5, 2013 -> 09:35 PM) The Sox have a lot of guys who are more valuable to them than as a trade chip. Most of their minor league OF's fit that description, Axelrod, most of the Sox bullpen (except maybe Reed by the end of the year), Viciedo, Gillaspie Viciedo is someone that POSSIBLY has more value on the market than what he actually provides. Everyone else, I totally agree with you about.

This team needs Beckham back though to add some leadership defensively.

QUOTE (Jake @ May 5, 2013 -> 08:57 PM) We have a pretty good staff right now. It was made with good late round drafting, a number 13 draft pick, Aaron Poreda, Clayton Richard, and Brandon McCarthy In my opinion, the two guys you absolutely don't consider trading in the organization are Sale and Santiago (Santiago is way more valuable to the Sox than as a trade chip).

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 5, 2013 -> 08:18 PM) Give that until June. If nothing else, Giminez might have some other team that would claim his services if he was available; teams always need warm bodies to fill in when catchers get injured Gimenez has been fine. He seems to call a good game, and you don't want to have two righty catchers on same roster preferably.

Nice ADA, and Ventura's done a much better job of not calling for the bunt this year.

QUOTE (iamshack @ May 5, 2013 -> 08:15 PM) How many quality big league pitchers have come out of our system in recent years? It doesn't matter where we got them, or who drafted them, or what position they used to play. Say what you want about our "ranking." The system has done exactly what it is supposed to do, in fact, far more than most. Yep, the pitching has been developed quite well, and that's probably why you see some guys going elsewhere and contributing. Far and away the weakest aspect of this organization was/is developing offensive contributors.
