    QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 19, 2013 -> 12:25 AM) Hawkins--that's one I watched a highlight of a homer of his on Milb.com, and he crushed it. However, it looked like he had a gigantic hitch in his swing.
  2. QUOTE (Baron @ Apr 18, 2013 -> 11:30 PM) Well arent you guys optimistic. He might allow some runs, but just seems like the type of game where there will be some quick innings.
  3. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Apr 19, 2013 -> 12:29 AM) Oh man, with this team and Dickey locating that knuckler, this team could strike out 13-14 before Dickey comes out. He'll complete this game
  4. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Apr 19, 2013 -> 12:07 AM) I do not see the deal happening at all Tampa would be insane to trade him. I think it's likely they trade him this offseason, as there's no way they can afford his next FA deal.
  5. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 18, 2013 -> 10:16 PM) So the Rays would never trade Price to Cubs because of their lack of pitching prospects, but the Cubs system is so good that they can definitely trade for Price? Sorry hurt, let me clarify. The first part where you mention how I don't think the Cubs have the pitching prospects to make the deal happen was my realistic opinion on whether or not they match up. The second part was taking ss2k's question literally about how if the Cubs even have enough in their farm system to trade anyone and everyone to get Price, which I believe they do (but I highly, highly doubt they'd trade a package like Baez, Soler, Almora, Vogelbach and Lake for Price).
  6. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Apr 18, 2013 -> 10:36 PM) Tampa system is pitching rich, they do not have to get a pitcher back in the deal to get it done. I can't see them giving up Price though without getting a potential starting pitcher back though. Their top 5 prospects according to BA are Myers (OF), Archer (SP), Guerrieri (SP), Lee (SS) and Odorizzi (SP). Niemann's career being in jeopardy hurts them a bit, as they never did unload him when he might have had some value.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 18, 2013 -> 10:29 PM) Impressive. 3 straight losing seasons following a season with 83 wins, $30 million+ spent on Cubans, 2 straight drafts in the top 10 (will be 3 this year), and they're "top 15 in nearly every publication". I mean, that's amazing, all the way up to the middle of the pack despite losing year after year. Man, I'm jealous of how well run that franchise is. Just makes me want to have a losing team for half a decade too, so that we can be fringe-top-15 in nearly every publication. I never said I thought the franchise was in good position, just refuting ss2k's post that their farm system doesn't have enough to get Price if they gave up "everyone". The funny thing is that for all the credit Theo will get if they rebuild things, it was the pick of Baez before he even got there that was probably the best decision they made.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 18, 2013 -> 08:57 PM) Their entire farm system wouldn't get them Price. Disagree, as Soler and Baez are 2 of the better offensive prospects in the game, and scouts love Almora. Their farm system is top 15 now in nearly every publication I believe.

    QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 18, 2013 -> 08:39 PM) Carlos Sanchez only at .227, but it's early. Biggest concern I have about Sanchez is that if he is strictly a singles hitter, the Cell isn't exactly a good place for that with the outfielders not having to play deep to cover the alleys, etc.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 18, 2013 -> 07:49 PM) lol @ believing anything Rodgers writes. It's based on a radio interview where Buster Oney said that the Cubs make sense as a trade partner with Tampa. I disagree, as there's no way Tampa gives him up without acquiring some top-notch pitching prospects, which the Cubs have none of.
  11. So now all Cubs fans think they're a lock to get David Price because of a poorly worded column by Phil Rogers. With that said, Carlos Villanueva was one of the better signings during the offseason.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 18, 2013 -> 08:05 PM) Mitch McGary and GRIII will announce their plans tomorrow at 330 http://posttrib.suntimes.com/sports/195688...sion-nears.html They're returning
  13. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 18, 2013 -> 04:13 AM) I've also felt OBP is overrated if you can't hit. That said...I never saw this coming and I actually thought he was a decent fit at the time they signed him. They needed an impact bat with pop from the left side. Agreed, I liked the signing as it made perfect sense.
  14. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 18, 2013 -> 04:08 AM) He'll be around a lot longer. I'd have dealt his ass after last year. You would have never signed him, I remember you hating him 8 years ago.
  15. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Apr 17, 2013 -> 03:50 AM) Talk to me in July when he's staring at a team with no hopes for the postseason and looks bleak for next year too. He hasn't been in the playoffs since what, 2006 or so? He's not getting any younger. Him turning down the FA market doesn't mean he would have signed a bigger deal with a team that was also a contender. I think one reason he stayed here is he also thinks the Sox have a chance to win. Peavy said he'd be willing to approve a trade to a team that has a chance to win the World Series according to this article http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0,5004147.story
  16. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 18, 2013 -> 02:04 AM) Well, we all know Torii Hunter's not a .400 hitter. I can't quite believe he was a .300 hitter last year....but with that line-up in LA, he had a lot of protection with Trout, Pujols, Morales, Trumbo, etc. Hunter's changed his approach though and is doing a great job at using all fields.
  17. Well, Pedro Alvarez is batting .068 this season (3-44)
  18. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Apr 18, 2013 -> 02:05 AM) .111 Time to bench him for two games.
  19. The top 4 in the Tigers lineup so far this year...yikes
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 18, 2013 -> 12:50 AM) 95 pitches thru 6. Does Q come back out for the 7th? Yes
  21. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Apr 18, 2013 -> 01:37 AM) but he's feeling good at the plate, you know Nice job of advancing the runner on 2nd
  22. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 18, 2013 -> 01:34 AM) Rios, indeed. That's about as far as he'll hit a home run.
  23. With Dickey on the mound tomorrow, I wouldn't mind seeing ADA and Dunn get the game off and Wise/Danks play in their place.
  24. Couple huge outs against Melky tonight!
