Yep, I’d be more worried about a mediocre performance just because the team is so bad. Defense will be better behind him, but losing a ton with no fans in attendance can deflate a player.

It’s obvious Getz sold Jerry on taking over and fixing the bad baseball Jerry was seeing under the previous regime by saying he’d improve the defense and IQ. When you combine that with Jerry thinking that Getz was the only one who ever taught the young players how to properly play baseball, you get yourself this boring strategy we’re seeing with regards to personnel moves.

If he truly thinks they need to get pitching as the headliner, then it’s possible. Sox have learned in the past that not every top 50 or so prospect is the same (ie…Rutherford)

Getz’s focus on players has been significantly different than his predecessor.
