  1. Axelrod's ERA now above 4.5. When Peavy returns, Axelrod needs to become the long man unless someone is traded.
  2. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 19, 2013 -> 01:26 AM) Axelrod would never get you much of a return. +1
  3. QUOTE (staxx @ Jun 18, 2013 -> 11:37 PM) Zack Cox would be nice Wasn't he DFA'd already?
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 18, 2013 -> 08:43 PM) If we're talking to San Diego about a starting pitcher, just say f*** it and make it Peavy. There will be zero issues with it among anyone and the Padres might well pay a bit of a talent premium to get him back. Bingo!
  5. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jun 18, 2013 -> 09:28 PM) Sox need to do something like the Red Sox did last year even if it sounds impossible. Red Sox got rid of Beckett, Crawford and Gonzales just to free up money. I think anyone looking for much talent will probably be disappointed. Greg if you are looking for a plan that might be it. Free up as much money as possible and go to work in the off season. To me, everyone should be actively available outside of Sale. Like you said, the more payroll that can be slashed, the better. One of the things about having a roster filled with average talent is that it's not too difficult to say goodbye to a lot of players.
  6. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 18, 2013 -> 05:21 PM) I heard he added a new pitch...anyone know what it is? He throws a ton of sliders from a ridiculous angle
  7. If the Sox trade with the Reds, I'm sure the Sox would be interested in Daniel Corcino. He's similar to Simon Castro it seems.
  8. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 18, 2013 -> 03:28 AM) Please stay healthy, Jesse. Just an incredible year, it would be cool if he makes the ASG
  9. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 18, 2013 -> 03:55 AM) I hope it goes 17 innings and these schlubs get to Minneapolis at 5am. Ventura would ask Santiago to go 5 innings in relief
  10. Nate Jones of course struggling being asked to go multiple innings.
  11. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 18, 2013 -> 03:26 AM) Fathom, has Phegley not played in a couple games something? RE: a previous post of yours. Seems like he's been out a few games now
  12. Another triple for Viciedo! If Barnes caught that one, Hawk might have swore.
  13. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jun 18, 2013 -> 03:15 AM) boy the astros d is even worse Isn't Cedeno considered excellent defensively?
  14. Baseball's a funny game...two rocket outs followed by two slow rollers that go for hits.
  15. According to ESPN, Keppinger has the worst WAR in baseball. Viciedo is 3rd, and Konerko is 4th (since Young Jr. is no longer on the Rockies). That's incredibly impressive to have 3 of the top 4!
  16. Haha, 3-0 green light to our #9 hitting back-up catcher, and he pops it up to the SS.
  17. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 18, 2013 -> 02:41 AM) Viciedo is a brutal baseball player. He's playing himself into a platoon player for another team most likely. Just another of the disappointments with regards to offensive players developed by the Sox.
  18. Viciedo all the way down to .190 vs RHP.
  19. It's amazing that in a 4 game series, the Sox have not had one home run at this park from any of their righties.
  20. fathom replied to flavum's topic in FutureSox Board
So I assume Phegley is injured?
  21. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 18, 2013 -> 01:30 AM) Dunn and PK easy outs. Sad how much power Konerko has lost the last year.
  22. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jun 18, 2013 -> 01:28 AM) I'm all for penciling in Rios at #3 and drawing the other 8 spots out of a hat. It's just amazing the lack of energy and enthusiasm this team has. Everyone continues to play so tight. It will be interesting to see if anyone in the organization has the balls to make changes after what has to be one of the more ridiculous 4 game series in recent Sox history (assuming they go on to lose tonight).
  23. I don't get why Ventura is keeping Alexei in the 2nd spot when he's openly questioning (Ventura that is) if it's having a negative impact on Alexei's power. I'm all for giving Beckham the chance batting 2nd, as it's not like things can get much worse for this offense.
  24. QUOTE (mike89128 @ Jun 18, 2013 -> 02:09 AM) See Dunn's playing first again with Pauly DHing about the 5th straight game.Think it leads credence to Paulie having a bad back. I think it leads credence to them grooming Dunn for 1b full time next year.
  25. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jun 17, 2013 -> 10:40 PM) Because despite all the gloom and doom , I'm hoping the Sox can do enough to compete again sooner rather than later and I'd rather not have them get better at our expense. That's pretty much the standard reason for not dealing within the division. I also think the Rangers will be desperately seeking more help than the Tigers need and a trade with the Rangers could be a blockbuster. Unfortunately, it just seems the talent level difference is too extreme between the two teams. Hopefully you're right though!
