Yep, 96.8 avg fastball but the best spin in the majors

Good stuff that inning, his fastball was crisp when in the zone.

He reminds me so much of the hard throwing pitchers you see in youth travel baseball.

In the minors, absolutely (hot gun?). You have to wonder if his elbow was beginning to give a few starts earlier.

Fastball worked well for him, as he got some swings and misses.

His stuff never really carried over to big league games. We never saw the 99-100 as a starter.

That one to Gomes was way, way better. Maybe those were cutters?

If that’s his slider, he’s getting almost no horizontal movement. He threw one nice fastball to Busch.

People will be focused on Kopech’s fastball, but I’m more interested to see if he has a competent slider. It was god awful last year.
