  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 6, 2012 -> 07:33 PM) Every one of the pitchers you just listed is a lefty. And amazing control
  2. QUOTE (DirtySox @ May 6, 2012 -> 06:32 PM) Yes, he's a soft tossing righty. He's not half bad when everything is working, but his margin for error is so little. He will be interesting to watch in coming starts. Him pitching in the summer at the Cell might be a recipe for disaster. He can do a solid job in pitcher's parks though.
  3. Keeping us in the game, all you can ask for.
  4. Axelrod does remind me of the type of pitcher we would have drafted in the first round in 2004 or so.
  5. After looking at Reed's splits vs righties this year and Peralta's splits vs LHP/RHP this year....it's really frustrating that the Reed trial as closer didn't start a day earlier. Reed's numbers on the road this year are amazing, and I'm excited to keep watching him develop.
  6. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ May 6, 2012 -> 07:16 PM) I 've always noticed we have similar baseball thoughts but I agree with Jake here. Hawk is good for me. Hawk's been way better this year than last year, in my opinion. I disagreed with his thoughts on it being easier to find a starting pitcher over finding a closer, but he hasn't been all over the umps as much this year.
  7. In 181 at bats from our starting RF and 3B this year, we have one home run. I miss the steroid era
  8. Hawk and Stone starting to get pissed at Rios, it seems
  9. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 6, 2012 -> 07:10 PM) I won't even watch the Sox broadcast anymore. Almost any other announcer is better then listening to Hawk. Ironic that two most memorable Sox games this year were on Fox.
  10. QUOTE (Baron @ May 6, 2012 -> 06:05 PM) Im enjoying watching Axelrod pitch more than Danks right now He might have more swing and misses in this game than Danks has all year. Just needs to keep the ball in the park.
  11. Ugh, can't throw him a 2-2 low fastball like that. Axelrod has absolutely no margin for error.
  12. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ May 6, 2012 -> 05:57 PM) How come when guys try to go to right you call it a defensive swing ? I know I say it often with Morel, and that's cause sometimes it seems he's just trying not to strike out (and that's before he gets two strikes). Lillibridge seemed determined to try and hit the ball to right on that swing, which is nearly impossible to do if Porcello is pitching you in like he did.
  13. QUOTE (Jake @ May 6, 2012 -> 06:56 PM) Does Dunn's .350 average with RISP lead the team? Alexei's at .364....oh wait, that's his OPS with RISP
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 6, 2012 -> 06:54 PM) Getting a guy to 3rd really isn't that useful when there are already 2 outs. Would have been a great swing on a hit-and-run. On a non-2 strike count, it was too defensive of a swing.
  15. QUOTE (Jake @ May 6, 2012 -> 06:51 PM) Don't swing at inside sinkers, people doing that is the only reason I had a baseball career Wait, Jon Garland posts on soxtalk under name Jake?
  16. QUOTE (Jake @ May 6, 2012 -> 06:50 PM) Too bad Eric Chavez is hurt, I know Kenny is still trying to get him Almost signed him in the offseason.
  17. Axelrod did a really good job of hitting his spots that inning.
  18. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ May 6, 2012 -> 06:45 PM) It's my one beef about Ventura. Two biggest positives so far have been giving hitters the 3-0 green light and doing a great job stressing holding runners. Two biggest negatives so far is handling of closer position and his use of Lillibridge/Flowers. He'll improve on those negatives as he gets experience.
  19. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ May 6, 2012 -> 06:40 PM) Just like Lilli needs starts against lefties. Of course, as I'm sure you've seen me rant about.
  20. QUOTE (Jake @ May 6, 2012 -> 06:39 PM) Has Molina lost fastball velocity or something? He was supposed to be a 92-95 guy with movement 89-91, I believe
  21. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ May 6, 2012 -> 06:37 PM) http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/p...id=molina001nes Seems that he is not pitching as bad as some have made it be on this forum? And his control apparently is there. Unless Axelrod is pinpoint he's going to get shellacked Reports from someone who's seen him pitch haven't been stellar. However, I think it was Chuck Garfein who speculated the other day that Molina could be up soon.
  22. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 6, 2012 -> 05:35 PM) I'm not a big fan of Brewer. Neither is the rim
  23. Flowers takes so many strikes, only to swing at balls. No way can I see the Sox giving him the starting nod next year.
  24. QUOTE (Reddy @ May 6, 2012 -> 06:34 PM) lollerz. all this talk of not wanting to rush guys - he's been in AA for a month and has a 3.72 ERA. consider me not quite sold. His fastball is similar to that of Axelrod's.
  25. QUOTE (Reddy @ May 6, 2012 -> 06:31 PM) who else we got? Molina
