Gameday Thread-Doubleheader Special: White Sox vs Indians

QUOTE (Baron @ May 8, 2012 -> 01:45 AM) Yeah? Thats still his ERA in AAA. Even in AA it was what? 3.7? Still not that good. 45 hits in 36.1 innings for a .302 batting average -

QUOTE (Baron @ May 8, 2012 -> 01:43 AM) Im still holding out hope for him. But right now he is giving up way to many hits in the later innings. His ERA right now is 13.50. I'm still holding out hope that Toronto forgot to include the main piece of that deal. -

QUOTE (Baron @ May 8, 2012 -> 12:40 AM) Well Molina's day went from good to bad quick. He has the bases loaded and has given up 8 hits. Ha...his batting average against in the majors would be insane if they call him up right now. If anything, his control might be too good. -

QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 8, 2012 -> 12:37 AM) Rios only cares about the 15th and the 30th. He's the only one who Ventura seems scared to bench for a game. -

Who doesn't love walking the 9th hitter and then letting him steal? Looking at 5 games out already if they lose this. -

QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ May 7, 2012 -> 11:57 PM) He's not. This has been another edition of easy answers to simple questions. I think we can all agree it would be great if Phegley can surpass Flowers on the organizational depth chart. Kinda crazy how terrible Flowers/Lillibridge/Gilmore have been this year. -

Stunning that a team with a #5 hitter with an OPS of .476 coming into the day is struggling to score. Indians shouldn't even bother pitching to Dunn tonight. -

5 strike outs already against someone who had an abysmal K/9IP ratio last year. Time for Fukudome to do something useful. -

QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 8, 2012 -> 12:45 AM) Good job by ES so far. Basically 9 scoreless innings in a row for our minor league pitchers against the AL Central leaders -

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ May 7, 2012 -> 11:43 PM) This lineup is abysmal. Ventura should have scattered it so AJ was in the lineup in one game and Konerko playing in the other one. -

Flowers is 0-8 with 5K vs RHP this year. When AJP is brought back this offseason, Flowers has no one to blame but himself, as he never made any adjustments to what MLB pitchers are doing against him. Just like with Morel, there has to be serious doubts as to whether or not he's capable of starting in the majors. -

I'd really like to see Ventura utilizing more hit-and-runs. The team doesn't have enough good base runners to be effective with straight steals. -

We have 6 of 9 hitters in the lineup batting .214 or lower tonight. I don't know if I've ever seen that before this late in the season. -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 8, 2012 -> 12:21 AM) We've lost four games to the Indians in the standings since last week....and climbing. Probably the weakest line-up that we've put out there the entire season, at least arguably. Apparently Ventura's not concerned with going 3-11 at all. You typically see weird lineups like this during a DH. It is pretty obvious though this team needs another lefty bat though. -

Nothing like rewarding Rios for a terrible stretch of nearly 50 at bats by moving him into the 3rd spot. -
QUOTE (greg775 @ May 7, 2012 -> 10:48 PM) He's gonna pitch and excel forever. Disgraceful to not sign him to continue his career on the south side where he not only excelled but was a good example for other starters. You're right, when the Sox are starting Molina, Quintana and Castro next year to go along with Floyd, it would have been great to have Buehrle and his 4.00 ERA for 13 million a year to help the team win 75 games instead of 72. It was the right business decision to let him go, and let's just hope Danks can turn it around.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ May 7, 2012 -> 06:59 PM) Ah Gordon, the dreaded 93 mph+ fastball. I hope he solves it one of these days. You can say the same with Viciedo. It's scary how we saw the same thing basically force Fields out of the majors. -

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 7, 2012 -> 07:55 PM) It's not easy to match that 4th of July doubleheader at home vs. the Twins a few years ago. It was like a 20-12 & 12-0 sweep by the Twinkies. I was there...it was fun bad -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 7, 2012 -> 07:49 PM) The perfect storm of everything going wrong that can go wrong has happened...and once again coinciding with the perfect game/no-hitter effect. Not even Kenny Williams is going to survive this trend. He more than likely will keep his job...but he really shouldn't. If this team ends up with one of the five worst records with all the young players looking terrible, combined with awful attendance and the worst farm system in baseball...then it will certainly be a season that 99% of GMs would get fired for. Just like with Greg Walker, it doesn't matter if you're the best person ever at your job. If the results of your work/guidance suck for an extended period of time, then it's time for a change. -

QUOTE (TitoMB @ May 7, 2012 -> 06:44 PM) Awful, awful start for Mr. Perfect. What do we do with him? Keep pitching him and hope he turns it around. If he ends up showing he can't be counted on as a starter in future Sox rotations, then holy crap, is the starting rotation depth awful. You're looking at Danks.......and no one else if Floyd is traded. All it means is Kenny will draft a college starting pitcher like Broadway who is supposed to be most MLB ready. -

QUOTE (jeffro2525 @ May 7, 2012 -> 06:43 PM) He tried...but s***. Humber showing no signs of competing at all out there. Humber just lost us two games today. Let's see what Quintana's got. He needs to pitch until his arm falls off. Treat this like a start. When was Quintana's last start? Not true...we'll still have Reed and Thornton for the 2nd game if Stults can pitch well. -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 7, 2012 -> 07:39 PM) 6.51 ERA for Humber. Considering where we are in the schedule and he has a perfect game under his belt, that's hard to do. This guy may wind up waived before long. He'll get the rest of the year on the roster, but with Kenny seemingly pushing for guys like Quintana and Molina to get to the majors, Humber could end up in the bullpen.
