Youkilis with no walks yet for the Sox. Him in the 2nd spot is dumb right now

Ventura sure pushes his starters to the limit

Gamethread: Sox vs Yanks 7/1/12
Time for Jordan Danks to get a few starts in left field. Last time I said this, it worked out well! But seriously, any decent starting pitcher is handling our offense way too easy. Move Gordon back to 2nd spot and Rios to 3rd

Gavin showed a ton of improvement from 2007 to 2008. Regardless of his reputation, it was a great trade by KW. As mentioned before, much like Danks, he never took the next step is his development to be a stud pitcher

Viciedo won a game for the Sox while in one of his bad streaks. Hard to be mad an him

I will be thrilled to be up more than a game on the Tigers at the break. Very easy schedule for them next week

Gamethread: Sox vs Yanks 7/1/12
Gavin just isn't very good. He never improved his ability to pitch from the stretch and he never improved his stuff after 2008. He needs a change of scenery to the NL

Gavin is here to stay this year. It doesn't sound like Danks is anywhere close to returning

Gamethread: Sox vs Yanks 7/1/12
Lefties continue to destroy Gavin this year. Awful outing by him, and we probably put too much stock in him shutting down two awful teams

Nice to see first inning run. Anyone else without power?

Adam Dunn and Paul Konerko are All Stars!
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 1, 2012 -> 06:56 PM) The guy had one of the worst seasons ever last year, so to see him bounce back like this really is a feel good story, and I'm sure the players feel he deserves a shot in the All-Star game. I have no problem with it. Being one of the most liked teammates in baseball doesn't hurt either

The Kids Can Play II?
QUOTE (scenario @ Jul 1, 2012 -> 12:20 AM) I don't think the Tigers are that talented. Yes they have a few all stars. But I think they also have several players who overachieved in 2011 and simply came back down to earth this year. I agree with this. They're probably the most talented team in the division, but they're not as good as they played last year. With that said, it would be great to keep a lead of 4 games or more over them at the ASB. They have an easy stretch next week to end this first half, as they face the crappy part of the Twins pitching staff.

6/30/12 GT: Sox at Yank$
Starting Dana Eveland didn't exactly work out for the Orioles vs the Indians. 9 base runners allowed in 3.2 innings. Indians up 5-1 Update: 8-4 in the 5th, as some terrible pitching taking place

QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 30, 2012 -> 09:27 PM) Indians score 1 in the 1st inning. Could have been worse. Strand 3. Run scored cause Lopez hit a weak grounder that hit 3rd base and bounced away. Next week, Indians gets Angels and Tampa while Tigers get Twins and Royals.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 30, 2012 -> 08:37 PM) 8 times shut out this year. Mercy. The Sox offense really is all or nothing these days. The only starting pitchers that the Sox have hit well, since returning from the Dodgers series, have been some of the worst starters in baseball: - Randy Wells - Randy Wolf - Nick Blackburn - Adam Warren The offense needs to start picking it up against solid starting pitchers, and getting some early runs would really help. As I noted earlier, 14 straight games with no runs in the first for the offense.
