  1. 0-4 for Morel tonight...doesn't get any easier for him having to face Bard tomorrow.
  2. Greg, you don't need to qualify it by saying Beckham sucks at this time. He flat out is a bad hitter.
  3. It's so painful watching our young guys hit. Ventura has got to find a way to get Lilly in the lineup and not let Morel and Beckham bat consecutively.
  4. I can't believe how bad the attendance is tonight.
  5. The thing with Viciedo is I honestly believe he has more value to the Sox than as a trade chip for another team. On the 25 man roster, I don't think there are a lot of valuable trade chips besides for Reed, Konerko, Sale and Humber
  6. We all knew Viciedo would likely struggle out of the gate. Comparisons to Vlad were always unrealistic, as we're comparing one of the best hitters in the last 25 years of baseball to someone who was never a top 25 prospect. Viciedo's done a very good job defensively so far this year, and there's a big difference between him struggling in the majors and getting a chance to get out of his slump as compared to Santiago and Stewart (two guys that still need to prove they can be good minor league players).
  7. QUOTE (forrestg @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 06:13 PM) I believe last year at charlotte he was struggling before he got his stroke. Sad to hear, but it looks like he's made a nice recovery.
  8. Showtime is doing their Franchise series about the Marlins this year. They had a 30 minute preview last night, and it's fantastic. Really shocked at how much the owner and team president allowed the cameras to film with regards to the Ozzie controversy. Highly recommended for everyone on this site. As for Ozzie, he comes across very sincere and apologetic about the Castro comments. With that said, it sure sounds like they were very, very close to firing him.
  9. QUOTE (Jake @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 12:45 AM) Not all is lost. Robin has to figure out how to get these guys to chill out and quit making so many stupid mistakes though. By the way, the answer isn't less bunting -- it sure is to get some damn bunts down though. Agreed, and I still think Dan Johnson would help this roster more than Escobar does.
  10. QUOTE (bobryansson @ Apr 25, 2012 -> 11:41 PM) Everybody blames the last crappy thing for a loss, in this case Santiago. There was plenty o' crap to spread around. Santiago almost gave up more runs in 1/3 of an inning than our starters did in 24. Who knows how many he would have given up if the game didn't end there.
  11. QUOTE (Jake @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 12:38 AM) With the way some of you armchair manage, I have to wonder how many posters here have played competitive baseball. It's quite obvious that Santiago just cannot face right handed hitters. You cannot have that as your closer.
  12. Could you imagine Konerko getting to face Santiago?
  13. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 12:36 AM) On the plus side, our pitching has been unreal outside of the blown save. Starting pitching is exceptional. Yep, Jones looking like an asset in the bullpen. As soon as Crain is healthy, I expect Reed to be closing.
  14. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 12:35 AM) Wow. What a kick in the nuts this game was...... Don't worry, Tigers are losing 1-0 in the first
  15. Nice meltdown by Santiago...he better not be closing again
  16. It just makes very little sense to have your 4th or 5th best reliever being your closer.
  17. QUOTE (Jake @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 12:31 AM) Wow, that hurts I don't think you can stop using him as closer yet though. 4/6 save opps usually doesn't get you fired. He's certainly got the heat on him now, though. You are the most patient poster I've ever seen...kudos to you
  18. Question is, does Santiago even belong in the majors at all? We already have a LOOGY in Ohman.
  19. Goodness, this guy is not a closer. What a demoralizing set of events there. That screwball is just a terrible pitch.
  20. So on Beckham's play at the plate, Farmer made it sound like Beckham was scoring without a problem. Must have been a strange play.
