  1. This game looks like an NBA game compared to the pathetic game that was UNC/Ohio
  2. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Mar 24, 2012 -> 03:02 AM) Unfortunate. UNC has no business winning this game. They look incredibly average Ohio U. couldn't have played worse in the first half and in overtime. Henson's block on Cooper's layup won UNC that game.
  3. QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 24, 2012 -> 02:57 AM) Ohio looks exhausted. Kerr knows that Zeller isn't that much of an offensive threat, right? He isn't? He's a pretty damn good low post offensive player.
  4. Ohio U going away from everything that was working for them in the 2nd half here.
  5. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Mar 24, 2012 -> 01:52 AM) Wow, how do you iso a 2 for 13 guy to win the game? How do they keep leaving Bullock open when no one else can shoot on that team?
  6. That would have been a hell of a buzzer beater there. Gotta like Cooper's family member wearing a Sox hat.
  7. QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 24, 2012 -> 01:21 AM) If the announcers on either channel mention Kellog being Clark's kid, I'm gonna scream. Do more prep. It is, isn't it?
  8. QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 24, 2012 -> 01:25 AM) Kinda reminds me of the SIU/Kansas game a few years ago. If Ohio could finish around the hoop, they'd be up. That one guy on Ohio, one of their big men, has been comically bad. Harrison Barnes has to be one of the bigger busts in recent memory.
  9. Another terrible game taking place
  10. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Mar 23, 2012 -> 02:03 PM) Agreed. Most games have been decided pretty early. And I don't think there's been a single buzzer beater or near buzzer beater. I miss Gus! This tournament has been awful besides for Norfolk State/Mizzou in my opinion. As I said last night, I can't recall a single clutch shot in the last 10 seconds of a game.
  11. Bardo on twitter saying Stevens wouldn't be a good fit. Of course, he's same guy who has been praising any and every minority head coach of late it seems.
  12. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 23, 2012 -> 07:59 PM) That's true. Either way, it's interesting commentary on Stevens. He hasn't exactly had the chance to prove otherwise. He's young and personable, and I think he has the oppurtunity to sign a great staff. I really think he would be a big time recruiter. Personally, I think too many Illini fans (not ones on this board) have got caught up in finding the right coach to land Jabari Parker and the rest of the Chicago top prospects in the next few classes. Like someone said before, just let Stevens focus on recruiting the rest of the midwest and he should be able to put together a good squad. I do suspect that Howard would leave though, as there's really no point in being an apprentice for a job that should be filled for the next 5-8 years.
  13. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 23, 2012 -> 08:54 PM) Yeah, it's weird listening to this Stevens commentary today on how he can't attract top recruits. Did Shaka land some 5 star recruits at VCU that I'm not aware of? Shaka was known a a hell of a recruiter when he was an assistant coach. I'm sure you've seen some of the same rumblings I have with regards to the city shutting it doors on U of I if they didn't hire a minority, etc.
  14. QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Mar 23, 2012 -> 08:47 PM) Why is there concern about Brad Stevens and recruiting? Stevens seems like an extremely personable guy. His players clearly would run through a brick wall for him. At a power conference, why couldn't he be a good recruiter? In fact, I think that he and Shaka have similar positive attributes when it comes to personality, age, ability to relate to recruits. I'm skeptical about Stevens' level of interest, unless he has decided that Crean is entrenched at IU for the long haul and he thinks Illinois is the next best thing (easy drive from Indy, obviously a pretty good job). But I don't see why people are comparing Stevens to Bruce from a personality standpoint. Not according to CPL coaches. Sadly, race has become such a significant factor in this whole thing.
  15. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 23, 2012 -> 08:41 PM) You might wanna check MSU's yearly recruiting rankings. Izzo is a great coach, but he definitely brings in some top talent. Yep, and with Wisconsin's ceiling basically being that of a Sweet 16 team, your goals should be higher when paying your coach as much as is being rumored.
  16. I love Stevens as a coach of course, but not sure he's the best fit for Illinois. Would he be able to recruit at all in the city, especially if Howard leaves? Also, I can't see Chicago preps jumping at the chance to play in a slow tempo offense.
  17. Hopefully Marquette can make a run here, as there's only been about 10 minutes all night of actually intriguing basketball.
  18. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Mar 23, 2012 -> 02:45 AM) Yay, looks like Iowa State will be landing another teams leading scorer as a transfer. http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball...6/trent-lockett :lolhitting
  19. Chaos at Wake Forest, as 3 starters have asked to transfer.
  20. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Mar 23, 2012 -> 01:06 AM) Maybe 2014. I have a hard time seeing it next year. Their backcourt should be pretty solid with Sobolewski/Cobb hopefully healthy/Crawford and a couple other serviceable guys on the bench, but the frontcourt is completely unproven. Sure, I'd take unproven over proven crap at the center spot, but losing Shurna could be a really tough adjustment. They should try to get Oriakhi to transfer there
  21. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Mar 23, 2012 -> 01:51 AM) If Ryan calls a time out and some how they dont even get a shot, or Taylor doesnt touch the ball, its a worse outcome. Jordan Taylor had the ball, they lost with their best. You keep saying this, but that wasn't even a true "in the offense" shot he got off. Especially with how whistle happy the refs got in the final two minutes of that game, it was ridiculous of Taylor to have to attempt that shot with 15 seconds remaining when the possession started.
  22. QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 23, 2012 -> 02:43 AM) Not sure what his scouting report is, but this is the kinda game that could hurt Green's draft stock. Yikes. Green is type of guy who should get drafted in the 22-30 range.
  23. I respect what Izzo's done this year, but I still believe Michigan State has to be one of the worst 1 seeds ever. Draymond's had a hell of a season though.
  24. QUOTE (iamshack @ Mar 23, 2012 -> 02:22 AM) I don't mind the lack of a timeout off the rebound, but as you pointed out, once the ball handler got stalled 26 feet from the basket, he should have called one and set up a play. Absolutely, once he got trapped up front, they should have called a timeout. When Taylor finally passed to Evans, Evans should have been able to find someone open instead of having to pass it back to Taylor.
  25. QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 23, 2012 -> 02:19 AM) Bo knows those TOs don't carry over to next season? :notworthy Badger's a lot more understanding than I would be if that was my team that just lost that way.
