Cooper hangs up on show after Dayan question
fathom replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
How hard is it to understand that Cooper's weekly radio appearance is the closest thing the Score has to a weekly discussion with anyone in the Sox front office/coaching staff. Thus, why not ask him about what is far and away the most perplexing decision/non-decision that's surrounded this team in a long time? As Kylie said before, if it was just this one issue, then people would excuse Cooper's attitude. However, he's a jerk on the radio nearly every time he's on. And FWIW, the Score is playing the sound clip relating to Humber more than it is the Viciedo thing. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 05:33 PM) Oh boy. This could be the mother of all stupid controversies if Benson is gay or something. Exactly... -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 06:26 PM) Is it his dope dealer or something? I have no insight or anything like that, but the prevailing comments seem on ESPN are questioning if it's more to do with sexuality, etc. -
Rios just plays the game of baseball very poorly. Throws to wrong bases, doesn't try to advance runners, can't get hits with 2 outs and RISP, and he doesn't hustle. I'm all for benching him or just trading him for another bad contract.

So Cedric Benson says the man he knocked out is trying to extort him. This story could get very, very interesting. -
QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 05:24 PM) sore knee? wtf has he done to get a sore knee? he doesn't even get to run to 1st, he walks back to the dugout. Lunging at 2 strike pitches 125 times in a season can definitely cause knee issues.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 05:20 PM) I dont care if his end of the deal is performing, this is not the first time Cooper has acted like this. In fact, pretty much every time I have ever heard him on the radio he has acted like a jerk. If you dont want to do interviews, dont cash the check they are paying you for appearances. He very obviously is annoyed with having to be interviewed, pretty much every time he gets interviewed. the only time I ever heard him in a somewhat good mood was when they did a live broadcast from a bar I can't listen to him on Thursday mornings on my way to work because it makes me cringe so much with how rude and arrogant he is on the phone. -

QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 05:18 PM) OK, but Ozzie pissed off last night and Copper pissed off this AM it not really "imploding." Better this than the same 'ol BS like other clubs. I'd much rather have the same generic BS in the interviews from our coaches/GM if it meant that they weren't all talk and no action. Ozzie and company have no freaking marbles. -
So the Rangers are pretty freaking awesome right now.

Quentin only Sox player to homer since the ASB. We need some power in this lineup. Phil Rogers finally suggested the one player I wish we had the players/payroll to add, and that's Aramis Ramirez. No doubt he'd accept a trade here, but you don't do that deal unless you bring him back for 2-3 more seasons. -

QUOTE (Real @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 04:08 AM) There's only one way JR bounces both of them, and that's if he replaces them with people already in the organization, which I don't want. If there was any hope of JR looking for upgrades at Mgr. and GM, and if he were looking around, we would've heard rumors about it I think, like... specific names Ozzie's going to the Marlins, and KW is going to take on the Paxson type role for the Sox. You don't see Hahn's name attached to any possible GM openings anymore (except for stupid Phil Rogers with the Cubs), and there's a reason why...he knows his time with Sox is coming soon. -

QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 04:06 AM) I'm very surprised that it hasn't come up in trade rumors. If a team wants to spend a big price, they'll get the rest of this year, and next year. If the Yankees want to give us a couple pitching prosepcts and a catcher, I'd part with Johnny. Give it a week, and he might be the best pitcher on the market besides J. Shields. -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 04:04 AM) It almost seems like both boys want to get fired. I do hope JR launches them both. There's not many people who believe that either will still be in their position next year with the Sox. Instead, you get this lackidasical s*** you've seen this year and the team/fans have to suffer. -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 04:03 AM) He believes in the talent, and there's nobody available who is better than what they have. KW must be drunk. Or he doesn't really care anymore because he feels like daddy favors the other brother more than him now? -
This offense is freaking awful. Half the starting lineup doesn't even hit the ball hard enough to score someone from first on a single because outfielders can play so many of our guys so shallow.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 03:59 AM) That is a tough one, but its not my money so I say keep Sale. If I was JR, I'd probably say hello Mr. Gardner. Getting rid of Rios and the albatross contract of his is more important than keeping Sale and hoping he becomes a #3 or 4 starter. I'd do that deal in a heartbeat, but there's not a prayer of the Yanks doing it. They don't need Rios at all! They can get someone like Breslow instead to help their bullpen for a much cheaper cost. -

Two players on our team looked like they even cared tonight (Danks and Sale). That was as bad of a team effort as there's been all year. But we all know no changes will be made before Friday's game. -

Well, AJ cemented his status as one of the worst defensive catchers in baseball tonight. Time to sell, this team has NOTHING go for it this year. -

QUOTE (Real @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 02:55 AM) When you lose your starting job to Wilson Betemit, you know you suck. Betemit would be like the 4th best hitter on the White Sox. -

A few too many pitches for Sale it seemed. If this was the typical Sox at KC extra inning game, Butler will single up the middle here. -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 03:46 AM) I don't understand it either. What is KW waiting for? Its mindboggling. Hopefully this knee "issue" with Dunn lands him on the DL. It would be just like the Sox to promote Viciedo just before we face some big time sinker ball pitchers against the Indians. -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 03:42 AM) Is Dunn available to pinch strikeout for someone tonight? I said it earlier tonight, but not calling up Viciedo for this series with two lefties on the mound while benching Dunn is mind-boggling. Look at our freaking offensive roster right now? It's pathetic! -

QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 03:39 AM) Now we have to put up with Teahen's defense at 3B. That was the perfect chance to use Dunn against a pitcher he's had success against. With Alexei as our DH, there's really no other spot where you could use Dunn. I'm sure Ozzie knows that.
