When I said bench Rios I said that with the idea of Viciedo in LF -

Just bench Rios for Lillibridge. He does nothing to help us win -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 05:28 PM) Damn it. Unreal...I'm shocked at how bad he's been against sinker ballers this year. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 05:23 PM) All righty slumpers, time to carry some weight. Really dangerous DP situation here. I have confidence in Dunn though. -

QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 04:56 PM) Apparently so. I was ready hoping to see Lillibridge in LF leading off today. It's Mark Kotsay all over again. Watching Kotsay get overpowered by Rodrigo Lopez last night made me chuckle at the fact he was our DH last year. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 05:46 PM) He's another guy that, based on his career arc, we might as well wonder if he had some "Help" as well. Absolutely...it's crazy how he went from having such plus stuff to looking like Mark Buehrle on the mound (stuff wise). I know a lot of us used to think it was a sure loss when we'd face Kazmir in Tampa.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 05:48 PM) Na, those three games (one of which was good) were plenty to write off his entire career. Hudson must have said something derogatory about Oney or hung out with McCarthy a few years ago. I think it's pretty clear that since he was drafted in the 5th round, he wasn't a fighter/bulldog/grinder and thus he had everything handed to him on his life.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 04:30 PM) And everyone would be b****ing about us missing an opportunity to trade for a real pitcher when we could have won the division. Considering a lot of us on here believe heavily in the AL vs NL influence, I highly doubt "Edwin Jackson is a real pitcher" was a common belief on here.
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 04:50 PM) Yeah...and I remember the ball you're talking about...but come on, he was doing the Cuban special those games he pitched for us...and I know it was only 3 starts or something...but it was a very ill-timed 3 mediocre starts. He had one great start, and two bad starts.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 04:42 PM) I think you should throw out splits when it comes to Konerko right now. He's been one of only three guys we've had to consistently produce this season. Konerko versus someone who owns him is still better than most of our lineup at the moment I wonder if we'll play Dunn this weekend in Arizona? Kinda funny how Dunn didn't even realize he would be sitting out during these games at NL parks. -

I wonder if we're going to start to hear Hawk criticizing, in general, the idea that Lillibridge is not getting played enough. I also think Teahen should be playing today against the sinker baller, and maybe give Konerko a day off since he struggles so much against Blackburn. -
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 04:31 PM) Well after reading what he said in the article, I am kind of pissed at Hudson, to be honest. About him trying to nibble on the mound with the Sox? It's still kinda fascinating to think how one lazy effort by Beckham at Oakland might have caused this trade.
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 04:27 PM) Decent my ass. He's dominating at 19. And my reign of terror will be godlike if Hudson shuts us down and Jackson is his usual mediocre, I need 100 pitches to get through 4 1/3 innings, self. One game doesn't mean that much to me. I think it's safe to say everyone is in agreement is was a horrible trade by Kenny and one I feel like we'll never totally understand what the end game was supposed to be.
-
Don't forget going from the worst arm in baseball to supposedly a plus-plus arm
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 03:12 PM) I have no idea who you are referring to? I'm guessing Heads. Seeing how well Holmberg's doing yesterday is the perfect appetizer heading into Friday. Hopefully Jackson throws a lot of sliders, or else Arizona will tee off on his fastball. That team can hit.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 03:07 PM) I predict 150 posts by fathom alone. Sorry, I won't be around. And if you think I'm the one who will blow up about Hudson vs Jackson, then you've mistaken me for a few other people. As much as I hate that trade, there's others on here that are significantly more upset about it.

Greg, there's a huge difference between Rios/Dunn and Pierre. Rios/Dunn are locked up for numerous more years with the Sox, so they're obviously not going to be DFA'd, etc.
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 03:42 AM) I don't know about that. I think a lot of this is human nature. Rios is still considered "full of talent" by many and I think that makes him immune to criticism in some's minds. It's a weird phenomenon. I know SOME people on here rip Rios and Dunn, but really not many. For some reason a lot of people think Rios and Dunn are decent members of the team when in reality they in their own way are as bad as Pierre. Those are 3 very weak links in our order. Also, Mr. Ground ball/Can't throw anybody out AJ is a weakness along with Beckham. How anybody can consider us a true contender is beyond me, unless 3-4 of those five get going. I worry about you

Would Holmberg be our #1 pitching prospect?
-
QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 03:27 AM) The bad trade continues to be bad. Most short-sighted, ridiculous trade KW has made.
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 03:04 AM) I'm sure you probably already know this, as you're as big as fan of the guy as I am. But Andrew McCutchen is 4th in all of baseball in WAR. He's the anti-Beckham. Andrew gets better every year while Gordon continues to regress. I had no idea, that's shocking as last I checked, he was having a subpar year. I love the guy though. I read today that Josh Bell won't be signed.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 02:53 AM) The Sox are just mentally weak. There is no other explanation. Tonight was just a lack of focus and game plan at the plate. It was like the Sox were machines batting that were unable to adjust.
