  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 30, 2011 -> 01:31 AM) Konerko has to go the All-Star game. Period. He's having just an amazing year. Such a pleasure to watch him.
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 09:47 PM) This is a guy who hit .305 in the minor leagues overall and .322 last year between Birmingham and Charlotte. He's on pace to strike out about 60 times in a 500 at bat season if he got that. If he put up a BABIP of .310 and never homered, he'd hit .276. At this point though, one home run and two walks is unacceptable from your third baseman, end of story as far as I'm concerned.
  3. The least Morel could do is get Pierre into second.
  4. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 30, 2011 -> 01:22 AM) Ramirez or Rios? I'm guessing you mean Rios in CF (not the one with the Russian name). No, Ramirez also
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 30, 2011 -> 01:19 AM) Wasn't someone telling us Rios has only two errors to defend his defense last night? If there is no error charged there then he gave up 3 free bases with no error. Hell, Alexei should have about 3-5 more errors this season if not for favorable official scoring.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 30, 2011 -> 01:17 AM) Wow horrible horrible work by Rios. That was a catchable ball. But he only has two errors! Ugh, he's been mediocre out there. Never thought Quentin would be our best defensive outfielder of the three starters, but good for Carlos.
  7. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 30, 2011 -> 02:01 AM) loaiza pitched effectively for 5 more years as a starter, and contreras was pretty amazing until injuries and age knocked him back, but he has been a pretty good reliecer for the phillies when healthy. franklin looks done, weaver became an overpaid dodger reliever, marquis never did anything worth noting, suppan couldnt get his era below 7. I thought Loaiza was terrible after his magical season with the Sox? You know how much I despise Suppan though. One thing Duncan is great at is getting his pitchers to use the sinker. Pineiro was amazing with the Cards.
  8. I would like to know what percentage of Sox leadoff walks score (when we're up) as opposed to the league average.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 01:20 PM) Absolutely. It is great practice for selling yourself, and could be the seed that gets you something later. Research and prepare how you could grow into the position, and the things that make your ready for it. Been running a lot of interviews lately, and something that always stands out about the best applicants are those that have a lot of great questions about the company, the position, etc. Like you say, doing research about the company is a must.
  10. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 09:49 PM) Hahaha. I did go to all three at home last week, and it wore me the f*** out. Try following the games on an iphone while at Universal Studios, Disney and SeaWorld
  11. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 09:44 PM) I wouldnt want that to happen (sweep by Cubs). But Ill take the GM finally stepping up and saying the manager's time has run out and has lost the team and its time for new blood. We are under achieving almost every season, its time to see if someone can right the ship. Trust me, I think you and I care more about the Cubs/Sox games than anyone else on here.
  12. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 10:36 PM) God dammit, I wish they would just fire Ozzie already. Underachieving team-Check PLayers Loafing-Check Dumb comments in public and on the internet-check Reluctance to accept top prospect into lineup-Check Children who bash GM in the media-check What else needs to happen? Would a sweep by the Cubs this weekend put the wheels in motion for some changes? As much as I loved Ozzie's benching of Rios last night, his comments about how he was happy the game ended were kind of confusing. He sounded more like me than as a baseball manager. He clearly didn't read the hyperbole thread.
  13. Sox going to face Lopez instead now?
  14. KW had some great comments today that have been played on B&B.
  15. I'm just waiting for the meltdown if Rios is in the lineup
  16. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 09:05 PM) Morel's production has been horrid. Even for a rookie. The defense has been fine. But no sub-.600 OPS is acceptable at any position outside of maybe catcher, and that's only if he's Yadier Molina-esque behind the plate. If Morel is acceptable, than '06 Brian Anderson was acceptable. And he most definitely wasn't acceptable. Yeah, we can say he's doing better the last month or so, but the overall body of work offensively from him has been miserable. It would have been acceptable on a team with 6 or 7 other hitters that are performing well, but with other guys struggling, he's just another black hole in this lineup.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 09:26 PM) Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, then going on Thursday? That's normal rest from throwing on Saturday right? And although yeah he worked Saturday, he only dealt like 60ish pitches right? Yes, but it's hard to say that 60 live game pitches is same as throwing in between games. I know the Sox put some thought into it, just seemed to be a good spot where he could have been pushed back to Friday and let Jackson go tomorrow.
  18. Lost in the controversy about Tuesday's game is what seems to be the silly decision to start Peavy tomorrow instead of letting him go on Friday. Let's hope he's still in one piece after tomorrow's game.
  19. Didn't Greinke have 2 years left on his deal at the time? If Montero gets traded, it's cause NYY feels they should get value for him now before his stocks goes down even more.
  20. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 07:22 PM) Konerko is giving 100%, he is just that slow it doesnt seem like it. Konerko's my favorite Sox player of all time, but his suicide shrugs isn't exactly leading by example as captain.
  21. Isn't that L. Lohan's lawyer? Ozzie would probably suggest that Jay and Lohan have something in common besides the lawyer.
  22. I really don't understand how Viciedo isn't a top 15-20 prospect in all of baseball.
  23. QUOTE (Knackattack @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 04:58 PM) I find it kind of disgusting that people are saying bench Lilli for f***ing up one play after all of the runs he has saved with his glove this year. Also if the Bridge can continue to hit and field CF well, it opens up leadoff for him and LF for Viciedo. The magic in his bat seems to be gone, as he's really struggling to make contact at the plate against righties.
  24. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 01:07 AM) David Holmberg has thrown 34 straight scoreless innings. 8-3, 2.39 ERA, 81/13 K-to-BB ratio in 83 innings. Sign. Great toss-in KW. Gross...he's going to end up being a top 50 prospect
