QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ May 1, 2011 -> 09:56 PM) I don't know how to respond. Assuming no injuries to core players, I don't know how it can be worse.

We need this thread to go the way of Saturday's game thread.

We need to pack the The Cell Tuesday & Wednesday

I'll be pleasantly surprised if we have more than 40k combined for the two games. -
QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ May 1, 2011 -> 09:47 PM) If you think they're playing hard then you're watching a different game than I've been for the past 2 weeks, they are playing like they want Ozzie fired. A perfect example of this is Teahen who couldn't grab the hard hit ball down the line last night (not an easy play) and pouted for a bit, quit on the play, and then wasn't ready for Alexei's peg that would have easily gotten the guy out at 3rd. They really are. The last straw for me was Konerko getting picked off at first by the catcher when he had a 2 foot leadoff.

QUOTE (iamshack @ May 1, 2011 -> 09:46 PM) No, it really could not be worse. I don't want to hire some old retread though. We need some new blood. Let's call up Dave Martinez. I couldn't agree more with you on this whole post. This organization needs new blood.

QUOTE (Tex @ May 1, 2011 -> 10:40 PM) There isn't a guy 25% better available right now. You don't know that. You don't know if there's someone out there, like Cito Gaston, that will stress a different type of offensive philosophy and approach that will get this offense going again. No one knows how the team will perform with manager X, Y or Z...but the current manager's way of doing things is not working right now.

QUOTE (Paint it Black @ May 1, 2011 -> 09:35 PM) Let me sum this thread up for everyone that hasn't read through it: Rabble Rabble this team isn't playing hard (but I can't prove it) rabble rabble. Question for the people that want Ozzie Fired: If he's the reason they're losing then why didn't they win the two games he was suspended? And further, what do you want him to do to make this team better? How about stress fundamentals, and then bench players who aren't showing solid fundamentals (ie: Rios and Pierzynski). I can't remember the last time Ozzie benched someone for lackidasical play. These guys have never seen someone held accountable, so there's no pressure on them to shape up. As for making team better, it would be nice if Ozzie had an idea about how to use his players. Not letting Dunn face the sinker ball with bases loaded for the struggling Rios was just weak.

QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ May 1, 2011 -> 10:16 PM) That pitch had the movement it would have fooled just about any hitter. Also, an at bat is an accumulation of several pitches. Overall, he did what he was supposed to do that at bat....he just got jobbed. He swung at a 3-1 breaking ball that barely reached the plate.
-
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ May 1, 2011 -> 10:15 PM) Rios went 0-5 with 8 LOB. Wow. He needs to be benched. Not for a game, but he needs to lose his starting spot.

QUOTE (chw42 @ May 1, 2011 -> 10:14 PM) I don't think he wants to get into any more trouble after the whole Twitter thing. So we have a gutless manager now cause of that stupid Twitter thing?
-
QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ May 1, 2011 -> 10:12 PM) Can't blame Rios....he couldn't have reached that ball if he wanted to. That was a horrible call by the ump Bad call, but I blame Rios for swinging at a terrible 3-1 pitch.
-
Nice 2 strike swing by AJP on the 1 strike pitch. I can't believe Ozzie didn't get tossed on the Rios strike.
-
One of the worst calls you'll see.
-
Wow, not even close. Get tossed Ozzie
-
SWING THE BAT CAPTAIN

A wild pitch would be very nice here!

QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ May 1, 2011 -> 10:05 PM) well one second dunn is the worst hitter in the world then its he should pinch hit. There's only one person who thinks Dunn is worst hitter in world
-
QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ May 1, 2011 -> 10:00 PM) yea and just yesterday people were saying dunn is the worst hitter theyve ever seen and why did we sign him.ok , ozzie ph's him and strikes out then its, why would he bring in dunn??he sucks! Thanks Mrs. Guillen

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 1, 2011 -> 08:59 PM) Yeah. The Yankees made a mistake last offseason when they signed Posada to a 4 year deal in 2007 rather than Dunn after 2010. They should have predicted that in 3 years they'd want to move Posada to DH and only signed him for 3 years and then not had him walk away. Was Posada that bad defensively where they felt they had to move him to DH? Oh, and if you want the team that I think would take Dunn, it would have been the Cubs if Pujols had stayed in St. Louis.
-
QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ May 1, 2011 -> 08:54 PM) really? because he homered here, that means he WOULD have homered last inning? , lol It's called strategy. Johnson is absolutely the perfect pitcher for Dunn to hit.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 1, 2011 -> 08:57 PM) I've made this argument before, but yes. And I disagreed with it before. Yankees showed no interest in Dunn during offseason, IIRC.
-
QUOTE (Real @ May 1, 2011 -> 08:56 PM) lol, money is overrated right!? Who knows what Buehrle would be willing to do.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 1, 2011 -> 08:56 PM) AJ isn't hitting all that bad. He hasn't been slugging yet, but that's likely a sample size issue. Still 6 million? We'd have to eat a lot of that.
-
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ May 1, 2011 -> 08:54 PM) I just turned on the game...I take it there was a better oppurtunity to PH Dunn? Bases loaded, 2 outs with Rios up against sinker baller
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 1, 2011 -> 08:54 PM) In the most simple terms, who better is going to be available at the stretch run to put teams over the top? Jesus, Jorge Posada is DHing for the Yankees right now. So teams are going to be on the hook for 3 years and 42 million (or whatever it is) for Dunn? If they really wanted him, the Yanks would have pursued him instead of Posada.
