  1. How is that a strike to Lillibridge and Gavin's curves weren't?
  2. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ May 1, 2011 -> 06:26 PM) Eh, I call them the same thing, but bottom line is that he has to figure out a way to shorten these stretches. Hell, just judging by his first AB most games, you can see if he's going to have a good or bad day. If he strikes out on a bad pitch in his first AB, you can be pretty confident he's going to struggle the rest of the game.
  3. Beckham's batted below .235 in 7 of his 12 months in the majors. For someone with medicore power, that's not very good.
  4. Adam Dunn with another day off. Not like it matters, he wouldn't hit a lefty anyways (.143 OPS this year, no hits).
  5. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 1, 2011 -> 06:42 PM) Absolutely. I'm not sure it will even last that long if this continues. The scary thing is I don't even have a clue what the solution is. I am not in Chicago, and so I think I get a more nationally-based perspective than most of you guys, who get the local perspective, and the national commentators think we'll come out of this funk. But if we don't, I don't know what the answer is. I have no idea what we do, other than just completely blow the entire thing up. But as DA has pointed out, you're still going to most likely be stuck with Peavy/Dunn/Konerko/next year....that's a $45 million payroll just between those three guys...this could get REALLY ugly if they don't snap out of this. And Rios and AJP. I'm fine with the Dunn/Konerko part taking up 26 million or whatever. I at least think they can put up better than average numbers. It's paying 30 million for two possible non-factors in Rios/Peavy that bloat our payroll.
  6. I forgot who said it on this board the other day, but it was the best post I've seen in a long time. The "All In" slogan put way too much pressure on a team that has struggled with pressure in recent years (ie: facing the Twins). Once the team started a mini slump, it seemed everyone started to press even more. To me, the slump seems to have started as soon as Thornton gave up the 2 out, 2 run single to tie the game to Pennington. Since then, we've played like a defeated team.
  7. My lord, not only is Castro significantly better than Beckham now, but Darwin Barney's having a hell of a start to his season for the Cubs. I hate baseball this year.
  8. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 1, 2011 -> 03:17 AM) I was pissed off at this team last season but now I'm just disgusted. The team re-signed guys like AJ for this s***? Can he throw anyone out? Will Pierre ever steal a base again? Ha! And poor Beckham. Man, I hope that guy has a girlfriend to go home to. Plain and simple, this team has played bad so far. We're not even getting to face a lot of closers due to losing by so much.
  9. Ginger, couldn't agree with you more about AJ's defense killing us this series. He's given the Orioles numerous runs already due to not being able to block pitches in the dirt.

    Humber

I really respect that job Humber's doing. He definitely has a plus curveball. I hope we find enough starts for him the rest of the way to see if we can pencil him into the 2012 rotation.
  11. I'm done for the night..fire all these underachievers.
  12. f*** it, put Dunn or Viciedo in LF and DH the other one. Get some offense in the lineup instead of playing NL style bulls***.
  13. Yeah, I don't think Boers is accurate with what he says about AJP, as he's been saying for a few months that no one on the Sox roster wanted AJP back.
  14. Take a seat AJ! He is SO f***ING HORRIBLE! Boers and Bernstein continue to predict he won't last the whole season without getting released.
  15. Well, that was a predictable easy inning. Beckham and Morel better be on a plane to Charlotte on Thursday. At this rate, Beckham's going to be out of this organization by 2013.
  16. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 1, 2011 -> 01:05 AM) Is there a reason the Sox are leaving all their LH hitters in to face a lefty? I could understand Dunn. Agreed, Teahen had no prayer vs Gonzalez.
  17. Why do teams pitch to Soriano when he's in one of his ridiculous hot streaks?
  18. QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 1, 2011 -> 01:03 AM) Meh, maybe Teahen triples or something. Not against a LHP.
  19. That was very Lllibridge-ish. Should be an easy inning for Mike Gonzalez here.
  20. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 1, 2011 -> 12:59 AM) I'm so drunk right now I no longer care about the ineptness of this team. But good god damn there's this hot piece of Latin ass I been scopin since I been here. Almost time to make my move. Tell her your name is Carlos Gonzalez, and asks if she wants to see your CarGo.
  21. QUOTE (Marty34 @ May 1, 2011 -> 12:57 AM) Rios looked like he moved closer to the plate that AB. Law of averages has him getting hot soon anyway. His ridiculous batting stance/hand placement makes it near impossible for him to get on top of a fastball and very difficult for him not to roll over when he tries to pull the ball.
  22. Pathetic swings by AJP there, as he was trying to hit a 3 run homer on the first two pitches. SO GLAD we brought him back.
  23. Whew, lucky. Need a flare by AJP here.
