  1. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 07:40 PM) Who has been riding Edwin's dick? Scott Kazmir
  2. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 06:38 PM) Yeah but also get ready for some butcher work in the outfield, similar to Juan, maybe even worse. You can't convince me the Tank is going to be a decent defender. You cannot be worse defensively than Pierre has been this year.
  3. Gotta love the big budget battle between Cubs and Yankees with a pitching match-up of Garcia vs Doug Davis.
  4. Hunter Pence is a fun player to watch as well
  5. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 06:13 PM) It's actually hilarious Viciedo hasn't been on there this year. I do agree with this. Too often this year, it's been a resource to promote Royals/Rays prospects. I know their farm systems are great, but they seem to favor those guys more.
  6. It seems like we haven't had anyone make the Hot Sheet this year, but finally Eduardo Escobar showed up this week. Problem is, it was in the "not hot" section.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 06:59 PM) Someone needs to be bound for the Bullpen. That will work itself out tonight
  8. Big fan of the new Mango Pineapple Smoothies at McDonald's. Their desserts keep getting better and better.
  9. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 05:48 PM) Juan Uribe without a doubt. I still love seeing Willie Harris out there as well. I'm a huge fan of Granderson and Teixeira as well. Kinda ironic that two of my favorite, nicest guys in sports happen to be on the Yankees.
  10. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 06:44 PM) I just don't understand the logic of this organization when the damn GM comes out and says this dude is ready. Then bring him the f*** up and sit Juan Pierre. I said this last week, but it sure seems like KW's way of throwing Ozzie under the bus.
  11. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 04:30 PM) Can you say that he has put together good teams that have consistently been in contention for the playoffs? This is my criteria for a good GM. This of course is subjective. Instead of looking at each individual transaction (trade, FA signing etc.) can he build overall good teams? I really don't care overall how he builds the team as long as he can build a good team. does his success in getting Rameirez and possibly Viciedo (we still don't know how successful he will be in the majors), negate his "lack of winning trades." It's fun to discuss the individual transactions but that isn't the important overall outcome. Winning is. He's put together good, but not close to great teams. With our increased payroll since 2005, I would think that more GMs than not would be able to get us into the playoffs more than once in the next 5 years. I think a big reason for the frustration with KW is how bleak the future looks for this organization due to the poor trades, awful farm system, and bloated contracts. If we had a lot of money coming off the books this year with the current core we have and a solid farm system, I doubt people would be calling for KW's head as much.
  12. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 05:30 PM) Haha, this post made me grit my teeth. I honestly can't wait until he's out of here. It will be a great day. And yet the worst thing he's done, IMO, is air some dirty laundry about Jenks. It's one thing to criticize on the field performance, but off the field stuff needs to be kept quiet by the organization.
  13. QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 05:18 PM) To recap what I said yesterday, what I find most striking is that a single 0-2 stretch, on the heels of a 22-13 stretch, can cause the doomsayers to completely rule this board. Caulfield, you say the "fault lines" between Pierre and Viciedo have emerged this month. Setting aside Pierre's defense (which would be interesting to compare to Viciedo), what about his .286 avg, .365 obp, 4/1 SB/CS did you take exception to over the course of May? Certainly his aggregate stats have been bad, but what would you have had Ozzie do after a single bad month - pull him? After a .286/.365 May, he's going to pull him? Certainly he should be on a much shorter leash given his aggregate stats and regression to slump form maybe NOW, but characterizing this as a massive length of time that Viciedo should have been considered feels revisionist, especially given how people conveniently doubletalk regarding the effects of rushing other folks to the majors. Yes, I meant commensurate. You can't just put aside his defense, as that has single-handedly lost us three games this year. Kinda ironic how Lillibridge's defense has won us 2-3 games this year already. As for rushing Viciedo to the majors, I think that's ridiculous. He showed last year he belongs, he showed in ST he belongs, and he's putting up numbers in AAA that the rest of our pathetic farm system could only dream of. He's a major league caliber player who's playing in the minors, which Juan is the total opposite.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 14, 2011 -> 01:53 AM) Super 8 was amazing. It was a complete and blatant rip-off of E.T., sure, but I fail to see how that is a bad thing. I liked it, but wasn't hoping to love it. I just wish there was maybe 10-15 more minutes added to the story about the monster part of the movie.
  15. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 05:11 PM) They've got a disgusting young core in Stanton, Morrison, Sanchez, Hanley, JJ, Nolasco and Sanchez (Anibal). They still need a few more pieces. But they're fine. I would be surprised if they don't trade Nolasco soon. Sucks for them that Volstad appears to be a bust.
  16. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 04:09 PM) Morrison is hot in the water? Have I missed something? And the Marlins are not in utter collapse. They've been without arguably the best pitcher in baseball for a while now and he won't be back until mid-July at the earliest. Hanley just got back from the DL. That team is pretty good when all their components are in place. Manager likely to be fired? Has he been there a full year yet? He's almost definitely not going to be back next year. I honestly think Ozzie will be their 2012 manager, and he'll do very well there.
  17. QUOTE (Buehrlesque @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 04:03 PM) Who's to say the Marlins wouldn't take that offer today? Morrison is in hot water with ownership, the team is in utter collapse, their manager is likely to be fired, and the organization loves and clearly wants Guillen. Not saying it's a sure thing, but it's not impossible. Why's LoMo in hot water? He'd be an amazing addition to the team, but I just can't picture Florida doing it. If anything, they're going to start trading off veterans and build around Stanton and Morrison.
  18. QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 04:41 PM) Given their track record over the past 7 years (and in a larger sense two decades) - is is really appropriate in 2011 to have zero faith in this organization, GM and manager? Next time Kenny Williams wins a trade, it will be the first time since the Quentin one. He's on a very, very bad stretch right now and that's why so many people are frustrated with him. NO ONE blames Kenny for signing Dunn. It was a great move and a great deal for the Sox...it just hasn't panned out so far. You can't say that the trade Kenny has failed with were "great deals" at the time.
  19. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 02:57 PM) Same here, which is why I know they'll finish around .500. We'll hear things in the offseason like this: "Even with the slow start, they still managed to finish the season with a respectable record. A lot of that has to do with the team having to gel after bringing in a few new faces. I think Ozzie deserves a chance to see what this team can do when it's completely gelled for 162 games." This is such an amazing post
  20. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 02:48 PM) Besides what Sqwert said, I also don't have full faith that they'll fire Ozzie at the end of the year. Just like how if the Sox lose, I hope Pierre goes 0-5, I'm of the opinion that if the Sox aren't going to make the playoffs, I'd rather they win 65 games and get a top 3 pick and get Ozzie out of here.
  21. I'm happy Peavy's feeling good, and his numbers were encouraging. Let me be the first to predict today that if Jackson does bad tonight, he will get removed from the rotation and Peavy will start in his place on Wednesday.
  22. That's a bunch of BS. Everyone knows that 110% of 58 is 64
  23. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 03:38 PM) The Pierre situation is another thing. How can one have faith in an organization that refuses to make the most blatantly simple and obvious move of replacing the worst player in baseball with a stud prospect who is lighting the world on fire? I really don't understand how Viciedo isn't thought of as a top 10-20 prospect in baseball.
  24. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 03:32 PM) Be patient all you Soxtalk fans. We can still win. Things will turnaround and in the second half we will rake and all will be good again in the world. We need to step it up, but we can and will. I am not calling for anyone to be fired, demoted, but maybe we wil see a promotion? Everyone seems to think Dayan Viciedo is the answer. Maybe he can help for sure, but we need a spot for him. If he is with the big team he should be playing not sitting.. A spot for him? The Make-a-Wish caliber left fielder we have should be sent to the Frontier League.
  25. "but I can't seem them playing much worse".....oh boy, last time this was said on here, we know what happened. I will say that I'm not going to go out of my way to call for Ozzie's head during the year anymore, as he should be fired if they don't make the playoffs. However, we all know it won't happen during the season.
