Sox Draft OF Keenyn Walker with #47
QUOTE (Pale Sox @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 07:37 AM) Either you got this from the Sickels link, or that's a pretty big coincidence. Saw it highlighted in the Sickels link

Who are your favourite non-Sox players?
Braun and Prince Fielder, Joel Hanrahan (took over as my favorite closer due to Broxton blowing up), Victorino, Stanton, and the Arizona announcers

Coop + Kazmir = ???
Nice to see Jackson's name included. Absolutely no shock to those that saw him in Durham.

White Sox Loser
QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 09:47 PM) I'll place $10 on the Twin kicking their asses physically as well. I hate posts like this. Please stop. Peavy would get hurt in the fight, but boy, he really put in a heck of an effort and after the game, he said he gave it his best. Meanwhile, Juan went to hit someone with a bat but squared up to bunt instead.

Sox versus Twins 12:10 pm Afternoon Delight
QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 09:29 PM) Hope you're right. Anyway, Brent's in the right spot in the 9 hole, and there's about 50 other problems with the team that deserve more attention. In a perfect world with Beckham and Alexei at 2b and ss, and with Konerko/Dunn and an outfield of Viciedo, Rios and Quentin, then Morel batting 8th or 9th would be fine with me. Thankfully that sounds like the plan next year.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 09:24 PM) I think he's a mid .700's OPS 3b once he fully develops/adapts, and may cross .800 a couple times given the park he's playing in. I think we can all agree he has to learn to draw a walk or two before he'll sniff a decent OPS.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 08:22 PM) Brent Morel will be a solid offensive contributor for this club for the next half decade +. We're moving in the right field fence so it's 200 feet away? I think he'll be solid, probably below average offensively for 3b but his defense will make him about the epitome of an average player.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 08:15 PM) GMAB. You hated Rios when we claimed him. I don't know how many times you have ranted about how bad he sucked, and how we didn't even want him. And now you are going to use him as an indication of how bad Walker is? Laughable. Especially with all of the "lazy" type claims. I hated Rios cause of the ridiculous amount of money as well as the point it seemed KW made a mistake in trying to block the Tigers. I never said I didn't think he could hit at least .270 with 20 homers. Hell, I think it was kalapse who ridiculed me a few years earlier when I said he was one of the best young hitters in baseball (even though he corrected me that he wasn't really that young). During his tenure with the Sox, he's been simply awful about 75% of the time. So yes, he's regressed from how he was in Toronto and looks like someone in desperate need of a hitting coach.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 09:14 PM) To this point, his contact rates have improved and his swing has gotten shorter. In otherwords, he is improving, especially over what we saw last year. And I don't care about contact rate if you're taking preventive swings early in the count and hitting 20 hoppers to the second baseman.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 09:14 PM) To this point, his contact rates have improved and his swing has gotten shorter. In otherwords, he is improving, especially over what we saw last year. Ball seemed to jump off his bat more last year. I'll definitely give you Lillibridge for improvements, but adding Morel and his one homer and a walk total you can count on one hand isn't something to put on your hitting coach resume.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 09:09 PM) Did I miss the success that Fields had somewhere else? Did I miss your rants about how awful Rios was before he got here? Rios was good, not great before he got here, and then tried to impliment some ridiculous batting stance. Sure seemed like it went on far too long this year before they tried to get him to make adjustments. I truly didn't think there was a Sox fan left who thought Walker should keep his job, but I guess I'm wrong along with the rest of the "mob mentality".

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 09:11 PM) Guys like Alexei Ramirez, Carlos Quentin, Brent Lillibridge, and Brent Morel don't count or something? What the hell has Morel proven? That he can get a few flares to drop?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 08:06 PM) If hitting coaches know what they are doing, they aren't the problem. If Gordon Beckham can't listen, he is the problem. Firing Walker because Gordon Beckham has a thick skull is just stupid. Doesn't it become mysterious though about why there's numerous players on a team that seem to not be able to impliment what Walker is trying to teach them (Rios and Beckham this year, Fields from previous seasons).

QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 09:05 PM) The division destroying and league realignment might be the greatest thing to happen to this organization since '05 Hell yeah, bring on the Astros and their awful organization! I also like watching games in that park.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 09:03 PM) No offense, but that is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. If you don't listen at work, do they fire you, or your boss? If Beckham isn't listening and making adjustments, he is the one who needs to go, because he is the one who isn't doing his job. Well, then why the hell do coaches ever get fired? And did I not say that one of the ways to deal with this is to bench players? If the hitting coach is going to have so little accountability, then why not save the money and just spend more on the draft?

White Sox Loser
QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 09:01 PM) Considering that the White Sox play 37 of their next 41 games against teams not from Minnesota (with the 4 they do at home), and considering that they are .500 this season outside of those games despite playing like absolute dogs*** most of the time, and considering that they were 23 over against all other teams not named the Twins last season, and considering that many of those upcoming opponents are s*** teams, yeah, I'm sorry, but I'm not willing to abandon ship quite yet. Did anyone really say on here: season's over?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 09:00 PM) I love how the assumption (word used on purpose) is always that Walker is the one who doesn't know what he is doing, even when he is in the right. Well, it's his responsibility to get the players to adjust. If they're not listening to him, then either a new voice needs to be brought in or player needs to lose playing time in order to send a message.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 08:49 PM) I'm sure it is wrong. Greg Walker is an idiot who just preaches lift and pull. Wow, so you think Walker does a good job and deserves to stay in his role?

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 07:47 PM) Nishioka played today. Joe Mauer is returning on the morrow. Joe Nathan is currently on a rehab stint. The guns are reloading. Exactly, this was as weak as we'll see them in a long time.

White Sox Loser
Wait, the Twins are going to be out of it and tearing their team apart? This was the worst lineup I've ever seen from a Twins team. As long as they still have their pitching, pitch calling, and the name Twins on their jersey, they'll kick our ass. And I don't get why people think the Tigers are such an average team. They have a true ace and a very dangerous offense. If rumors are true and they trade some of their prospects for another starting pitcher, I think they could easily get to 90 wins.

I'm shocked at how bad Greinke's pitched in the NL so far. I really thought he'd dominate people.
