  1. Alexei showing no patience with RISP, and swings at a pitch head level. If Arrieta throws a low inside fastball, this game will be 6-3.
  2. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Apr 30, 2011 -> 02:36 AM) He injured it last year. What did they do over the offseason with it? It's been going on 5 years for him
  3. Baseball's a funny game. That swing was terrible, yet it falls. Better see a hit and run here.
  4. Goodness, 4 straight rockets. Beckham will break that streak.
  5. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 30, 2011 -> 02:34 AM) I agree. I think Rios gets out of this. His bat speed is there. The thing that scares me is, mentally, can he handle this funk or will he shut down and have another horrific season like he did 2 years ago. It will be interesting if they shut him down for a while due to the toe injury. It might be something where he decides to rest it now instead of play the entire year with it.
  6. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 30, 2011 -> 02:33 AM) So was Wilson Betemit 2-3 springs ago. Well, at least the Royals noticed him. Ironic, since we acquired their 3B. Betemit was used terribly with the White Sox. He's a pretty damn good hitter.
  7. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 30, 2011 -> 02:30 AM) Danks is really good. He might be having a bad game, but every year he goes deeper into games. Guy is one of the best lefties in all of baseball. I'm not saying he's not a good pitcher, but it's a tough call if you pay him as a #1 pitcher in the open market.
  8. Vlad scares me more than Scott here. Need to bounce the offspeed pitch here.
  9. Ok Danks, time to shut us up and keep the game tied.
  10. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Apr 30, 2011 -> 02:28 AM) Danks really is a 5 inning pitcher. He may not make it 5 tonight. I really, really hope we don't overpay him with a contract extension.
  11. Danks is just awful tonight. Just a matter of time for Orioles to break this game open if he continues to have zero command.
  12. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Apr 30, 2011 -> 02:24 AM) I might be alone in this, but I get the feeling the Sox bats aren't all that far away from righting the ship. It's hard to tell. Dunn looks better, as does AJP/Alexei/Teahen. We've gone over Beckham's struggles, and we're not seeing Rios tonight. Arrieta is the perfect pitcher for our hitters, as almost everything is hard.
  13. Ha, Arrieta is so brutal. Good swings that inning, just seems we can't buy a break once it starts going bad in a game.
  14. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 30, 2011 -> 01:15 AM) And Danks always pitches just not quite well enough to win. That's a very interesting way to look at it.
  15. Wow, Danks has nothing tonight. Every pitch is above the belt.
  16. Arrieta is pretty awful. We should score a few more runs off of him tonight.
  17. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 30, 2011 -> 01:03 AM) So basically Walker's existence is/was connected to Konerko coming back....and Dunn came here because of Konerko? Konerko came back cause we offered him the money he was looking for. Him saying it was partly due to Walker is just him looking out for his buddy. As for Dunn coming here, it had little to do with Konerko.
  18. Teahen with a nice defensive play to keep the lead.
  19. Wow, our fundamentals are absolutely pathetic. This team's defense finds new ways every other game to let us down.
  20. Danks seems to be throwing a lot of pitches way up in the strike zone. Giving back the lead here would be a real buzzkill.
  21. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Apr 30, 2011 -> 01:51 AM) So let me get this straight. We cannot fix major league hitters because their mechanics are impossible to change. But young guys, sure we can completely cluster f*** their swing, because what its fun or something. We go from a video pre-draft talking about a bit of a hitch and some bat drag to this erect statue that can't put a bat on the ball. Great job coaches, you have turned his swing into Brian Anderson's. Awesome job. Well said..our hitting coach has not "fixed" anyone in a very long time. I still say he did a terrible job with Josh Fields.
  22. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Apr 30, 2011 -> 01:47 AM) And yet he was ripping the ball the first week or so. Which makes you wonder. He was probably confident coming into the year, but once he had a bad game or two, he mentally lost it.
  23. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 30, 2011 -> 01:48 AM) I really hope I'm overreacting, but he's got no bat speed. Nope, he doesn't. He's really getting into "bust" territory. At this point, he needs to go down to AAA and prove he still knows how to hit.
