  1. Did they say during the game why Bruney was used instead of Crain or Santos?
  2. Here's my thought on Dunn after the question I asked before. If he hits terrible for another few weeks, I think you bench him. Everyone says that we won't win anything without him contributing, but what if the opposite is true, and that is "we won't win the AL Central with him in our lineup struggling?" With Rios, you let him ride it out cause you don't have anyone else who can play full time CF.
  3. Wow, just saw that we let Bruney pitch to Morse with an open base. I can't believe we didn't walk him to face Espinosa, who really struggles against LHP. Why is Bruney valued so much by this organization? It's funny, but the man of the day, J4L, screamed last week that Ozzie better not let Morse beat us.
  4. What happened on the Dunn deep fly out?
  5. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 25, 2011 -> 02:49 AM) We seem to be calling for a Dayan Viciedo call up more all the time and complaining about Juan Pierre. But, I have never seen DV in the OF. How is his throwing arm? How many assists does he have at Charlotte? Of course he also swings a bat, which I agree seems to be a challenge for JP. Viciedo is supposed to have a cannon
  6. Legitimate question: at what point do you bench Dunn? I'm all for letting him work it out if you're not in a pennant race, but since we've climbed back into contention, you can't keep letting him hurt you. Hopefully he'll figure it out in the next few months, but for right now, the big man needs to take a step back and regroup.
  7. Thanks guys. Very limited Internet access
  8. What was the attendance for the Cubs games
  9. Does that mean Weber has still never recruited, as a head coach, a player that got drafted in the NBA?

I've heard so many rumors about MLB players being on PEDS the last few years, and not once heard anything about Konerko. Hell, if you see him in person in street clothes, he looks like the opposite of what an athlete should look like. He's someone that's always had a similar swing at the plate, and it's not like he's hitting landmark home runs. If the Chicago media wants someone to bash for PEDS, there's a certain 1B in Chicago who hit 3 home runs in the Sox/Cubs series that is a running joke. The Sox know Konerko's workout routine and health situation better than anyone, and if they thought there was anything fishy, I highly doubt they would have extended his contract again.
  12. The quality of the rides at Islands of Adventure in Orlando is simply amazing. Even the water rides are better than anything you'll find elsewhere. I'm not a Harry Potter fan, but the frozen butterbeer is delicious!
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 01:03 PM) Sounds a bit like Sefalosha with a better shot? Sefalosha is longer/more athletic. Butler has a much better ability to score.
  14. Zimmerman has some pretty nasty stuff. I'm ok with benching Beckham tonight, as he isn't a good match-up for the 94-95 mph heater.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 12:58 PM) You're smarter than this fathom, come on. Here's the easy answer...if you're saying those things and Balta is around, will he immediately reply with 15 different statistics that the person writing them didn't bother citing? Well there was an argument on here earlier this year where people called Dunn "terrible at baseball". It then got into the silly discussion of how Dunn is better than posters at baseball, so clearly he's not terrible at the game. I must be dumber than usual this morning, cause I thought I had a legitimate question.
  16. Loved the draft last night. Shumpert went 17, Butler gets a first round guarantee (great story, great defender), and the two Illini lazy guys don't get picked. As for Butler, he's a great defender who's a solid shooter but can't create his own shot. He scored a ton of points at Marquette by getting to the FT line. He's probably below level quick-wise for the 2 guard in the NBA, but he's good enough defensively to survive in the league.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 12:38 PM) A perfect example here would be the second game of the Cubs series thread where something like 6 or 7 of the first 10 posts were meaningless shots at Juan Pierre, when the line up hadn't even been announced yet. I'm fine with following rules, but let me throw out some examples that I see on here for a little clarification: - Adam Dunn is terrible at baseball - Ozzie Guillen is the worst in-game manager at baseball (I believe that's sqwert's favorite line) - Morel looks like a pitcher at the plate Would those be considered "hyperboles" in this case?
  18. Oh Spike, you're such a dumbass. Never heard of Shumpert before?
  19. Love the Tristan pick. Big fan of his
  20. I post a lot in games I can actually watch, and this year, we have struggled in those games. Trust me it was hard not seeing a second of any cubs game. I know there's usually more to debate after losses
  21. HELL YEAH! Let the streak continue
