QUOTE (elgonzo4sox @ Jun 26, 2011 -> 08:33 PM) He's an obvious waiver candidate. What do you think the odds are that a NL team in the postseason hunt might pick up his contract for nothing in return (a la the Rios waiver deal)? An argument could be made that if Dunn moves back to the NL he'll do better, a la Pat Burrell. 1 percent chance

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 26, 2011 -> 08:27 PM) Other than Dunn coming out of this and playing out his contract at least close to his career numbers (with a small decline for age each year), that would probably be the best thing that could possibly happen to the Sox. But how often does that happen. I'm sure he'd still want to get his money. I really hope he figures this s*** out, but the longer you are like this, the more mentally you get f***ed up and then the only thing that can help is just a full off-season away from baseball. Kind of like what happened with Rios 2 years ago or Swisher a couple years back. Or even Konerko back in the early 2000's when he had that disasterous season. Really good post. Something disturbing with Dunn is how he seems to not be able to carry good swings from one game to the next. He looked good on Friday, and now it's back to swinging an invisible bat. There's no consistency in his approach. A lot of games, he's very patient the first one or two times up. However, he'll have a few bad at bats and then find himself in a hole in a later at bat cause he's being too aggressive.

Leaving way too many runners on base today.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 26, 2011 -> 08:20 PM) In short, I really don't like Dunn and have very little hope of him amounting to anything. I didn't like him at his prime, but I at least figured he'd hit 30 HR's with a crappy average and good OBP and I could have lived with that. What do you think of this thought: Dunn is type of guy who if he just stinks the rest of this year and next year, he might just walk away from baseball and retire?

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jun 26, 2011 -> 08:16 PM) Seattle and Florida are playing tonight at 9:05 that seems odd for a Sunday. You would think Florida would have wanted a day game. Game is in Seattle due to U2 concert

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 26, 2011 -> 07:10 PM) Having Lillibridge and Omar being your 2b actually gives you less OF depth because your backup CF becomes either Viciedo or Pierre. How so? You can still play Omar at 2nd and Lillibridge in CF if you need to rest Rios

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 26, 2011 -> 07:08 PM) Rios has been hitting it hard by and large the past week or so. Heck, even more than that. His slugging percentage, ops, and average have been on the rise the past couple of weeks. He's also coming off a 3 hit game. I realize its sexy to hate on Rios, but unlike Dunn, he's actually coming around and also plays some good defense. To add to that, we also have no one that can take his spot.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 26, 2011 -> 07:06 PM) And Viciedo takes over 2b? Come on fathom. Omar and Lillibridge split time at 2nd. Viciedo gives you some more outfield depth as well.

That pitch was basically a strike. Bad start to this inning.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 26, 2011 -> 07:02 PM) Ozzie has to drop Dunn down to 7th or 8th. He's killing rallies. Dunn's going to find himself benched if he continues to struggle. I could see Beckham being sent down for Viciedo.

Wow, overmatched by an 85 mph fastball. I'm surprised fans aren't booing him louder

16,000 square foot swing!

Beautiful swing by Quentin there. Really stayed closed and hit a vicious line drive.

That pitch Beckham popped up was the same type of pitch he used to line to the right field warning track when he first came up. He is struggling to do that now with his shoulder flying out.

Same bad swings by Beckham. Was late on an 80 mph fastball and then pulls off a slider to pop it up.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 26, 2011 -> 07:36 PM) Have you ever seen a fall of this magnitude by a proven player over the course of one offseason in history? I know Wite's faith has to be waning by now. Hopefully the one week benching he'll face with games at NL parks will do him well.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 26, 2011 -> 07:30 PM) Dunn is so bad that when you describe him you're going to automatically sounds hyperbolic without intending to. I can K at his rate for half the price. Ozzie just needs to stop playing him against lefties. Hell, any confience he had after Friday night probably was negatively impacted after he struggled against the lefty yesterday.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 26, 2011 -> 07:27 PM) That's what I recall too...not him hitting fastballs from anyone. He hit homers off of fastballs from Santana and Penny

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 26, 2011 -> 07:21 PM) Also, I have a feeling Dunn should rake on Livan today. Beckham should get some good swings today

We'll be in great shape against Livan if this umpire keeps up this small strike zone.
