So with Ozzie saying that the 6 man rotation will be done in a week, anyone think Danks is going to get pulled from the rotation? I say he's the leading candidate right now. That would be a disgrace, and trading him to Yankees is such a better idea.

QUOTE (iamshack @ May 24, 2011 -> 03:02 AM) The offense has been showing up. Ogando is a pretty nasty pitcher. We'll be ok. Ogando is a great pitcher so far. Splits vs righties are unreal

QUOTE (iamshack @ May 24, 2011 -> 03:02 AM) The offense has been showing up. Ogando is a pretty nasty pitcher. We'll be ok. Let's hope Ozzie uses a smart lineup the next two games (which means Lillibridge plays, Dunn sits). Tonight would be the perfect time to promote Viciedo as well.

Hawk is all over Viciedo's nuts. Good to hear! Danks ERA about to blow up here.

Offense needs to show up this road trip, or the season could be over. We face a lot of powerful offenses, and we're going to have to score more than a few runs to win most of the games.

QUOTE (iamshack @ May 24, 2011 -> 01:54 AM) Let's not overreact here...he definitely has had a bit of a down year, but he's a 26 year old lefty with 46 wins under his belt and a career ERA around 4 pitching in a bandbox...to say that his value is seriously compromised based on his W-L record this year or a few rough outings seems to be a bit ridiculous to me. I thought I said in an earlier post that I didn't think his value was too diminished for other teams right now. For the Sox, I absolutely cannot see how they can afford him.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 24, 2011 -> 01:50 AM) The years. Before this bust, he was looking like a 7/110 or more pitcher. Do you see JR giving that long of a contract to a pitcher?

QUOTE (iamshack @ May 24, 2011 -> 01:48 AM) You guys are really busting out the pessimism tonight! With regards to being happy that we didn't give Danks ace money? I fully expected the Sox to lose tonight, as Ogando's a tough match-up for a righty heavy team. Have you seen his numbers against righties this season?

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 24, 2011 -> 01:47 AM) Man that would have been a huge discount You think 17 mil is a discount, or is it the years?

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 24, 2011 -> 01:43 AM) Yeah, lets all pretend that teams are breaking down the door for the 0-8 pitcher. I think he still has some value, but he has been a huge disappointment this season. I'm just relieved we didn't give him some 4 year, 68 mil extension or anything like that.

Rios is 15-96 on the road with no home runs. Like I've said, good luck winning anything when 2 of your 3 highest paid offensive players are total busts.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 24, 2011 -> 01:24 AM) Jesus. What a complete bust this guy has been. His bat speed looks to be diminished. Almost as if pitcher has to make a mistake for him to hit a homer.

It's so frustrating watching Quentin bat right now. Pop up machine, even on hangers over the plate. I'm not sure which Sox hitter is more annoying to watch bat: Pierre, Dunn, Beckham, Quentin, or Rios

QUOTE (iamshack @ May 24, 2011 -> 01:08 AM) Absolutely. If there is anyone he should hit, it's Garland. That being said, I don't think it's an issue of him losing bat speed because of age or anything. I think he's just fighting some mechanical adjustments and is most certainly pressing mentally. He'll figure it all out...the question is will it be in time? I think he'll figure it out, but his start this year in addition to how poorly he ended last year is definitely a big red flag.

QUOTE (iamshack @ May 24, 2011 -> 02:01 AM) Or anyone, for that matter. The problem is he was brought in to help us from the left side, but any righty with good stuff just overpowers him it seems. When he struggled against Garland, it was a horrible sign IMO.

Dunn has got to start contributing against these tough righties

QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 24, 2011 -> 12:42 AM) As fast as JP is he hits into alot of DP's. That's cause he's not fast anymore. We should be doing a hit and run whenever Juan is up with someone on first.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 24, 2011 -> 12:25 AM) Any skepticism on Granderson and his 16? His body is not much different than it was 13 years ago when he was playing at TF South. He showed a lot of power in a huge park in Detroit, and the biggest improvement seems to be his approach against LHP. Playing in that park, it's not a surprise he's putting up huge numbers finally.

QUOTE (iamshack @ May 23, 2011 -> 02:48 AM) The officials make it very difficult to win on the road in the postseason, but the Bulls had this advantage while they were in Chicago, so there is no place for whining now. Well said...73-73 just seems so long ago

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ May 23, 2011 -> 02:41 AM) They need to drive and kick it out to him. The problem now is they kick it out to the wings and the bulls hold onto it long enough for the heat to rotate over. Spoelstra's defensive strategy this series so far has been fantastic.
