Sox @ Seattle
QUOTE (greg775 @ May 8, 2011 -> 03:29 AM) Whatchu talkin' about Willis? I call first to second to third then home station to station. Yes! He got hit! This inning is station to station, but reason we didn't score runs earlier was due to bad base running and not lack of ability to score from 2nd on a single, etc.

Alexei seems extra impatient with runners on lately. Terrible ABs for him the last few nights.

QUOTE (greg775 @ May 8, 2011 -> 03:27 AM) OK three singles, crowd is restless. Station to station baseball. Can we score some runs? Cmon boys. How can we have 10 hits and one run???? This is anything but station to station baseball

QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 8, 2011 -> 03:27 AM) It will take real skill to f*** this up. How will it go down? 1-2-3 DP, and then Alexei hit a rocket that Milton makes a great catch

Haha, this is insane

Sox @ Seattle
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 8, 2011 -> 03:20 AM) Based on Beckham turning on a fastball and pulling it down the left-field line against Felix in the 8th and his first AB in this game, two consecutive hits FEELS like progress. What else do we have? His double last night was pretty, but his first AB tonight was ugly. I know it resulted in a hit, but it was the same bad mechanics that's caused him to struggle.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 8, 2011 -> 03:17 AM) Except for the position he's playing, yes, he's playing like last year's Kotsay. I still expect him to pick it up from here, he started like this last year too No salary drive this year. And I saw you say this yesterday, but would you really rather have AJP than Barajas? At least Barajas provides some pop.

Very nice 3-2 change-up to Smoak.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 8, 2011 -> 03:14 AM) Aj was always at his best when every other at bat he'd flip the ball over the SS for a single, not on a line, just a near-bloop. You can see signs of AJ fading into becoming an even worse hitter than usual. His bat speed has diminished, and his power's gone with it. In the past, he had enough strength to hit it over the left fielders head. Now, even if he makes good contact to left field, it's playable for the outfield. When he tries to pull the ball, he's not quick enough to avoid rolling over on the pitch. It's what we saw the first few months last year until he finished up strong.

AJP is absolutely pathetic. I'm going to start calling him DFAjp

Sox @ Seattle
Wow, Quentin got dominated there.

I don't know what the heck is up with all these weak pop ups to left by Dunn.

Build Around Phil Humber
Verlander had unreal stuff today. I'm not sure how anyone hits him sometimes.

Build Around Phil Humber
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 7, 2011 -> 09:08 PM) If you factor in offense AND defense last year, Ramirez was pretty clearly our best player last year. We've basically robbed him the first 3 years of his contract, he was undoubtedly the best value in all of baseball. Which All-Star caliber player had a more advantageous contract to their club (or didn't get a huge signing bonus from the draft)? Adrian Gonzalez

Most disappointing team in MLB History?
Guy on 3rd base with one out and infield in results in the contact play about 99% of the time. Beckham did nothing wrong there. Funny thing is that it should be Ozzie's responsibility to tell Cox whether or not contact play is on. If Beckham missed a sign, then that reflects poorly on Ozzie due to Omar missing a sign the other day also.

2011 Cubs Thread
QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ May 7, 2011 -> 09:02 PM) I will never understand why managers feel like their closer has to finish an inning when they clearly have nothing. Cordero had nothing yesterday, just lucked out on some hard hit balls. I hate Cordero..he's been a Cubs catalyst in the past. I really question why he didn't let Chapman close today.

2011 Cubs Thread
Seems like Dusty would be wise to use Bray or Chapman against Pena instead of letting Cordero blow the game.

Build Around Phil Humber
Alexei is probably the least of our worries when it comes to production and contract going forward.

2011 White Sox Catch-All Thread
Wow, those are scary stats. Just go with this lineup from now on: Rios, Dunn, Quentin, Konerko, Ramirez, Beckham, AJP, Viciedo (3b), Pierre Rios is our best base runner anyways now

Dunn, Thornton, AJ, Rios, Beckham, Oz, KW
QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 7, 2011 -> 05:49 PM) Thornton actually looked pretty damn awesome last night, and thats really encouraging. He may have been left in a little too long, but its not like he was getting hit around, the hits they got on him were shanked bleeders. I thought Seattle got really good swings against him (besides Olivo and Bradley, of course). Ichiro hit his ball hard, Chone did, Saunders flew out pretty deep, and Wilson and Ryan hit the ball hard. He did have good command in the 8th though, and when he has good command, he's throwing up and in to righties instead of down the plate.
-
Dunn, Thornton, AJ, Rios, Beckham, Oz, KW
If you noticed, Thornton was down in the zone in the 9th inning with a lot of his pitches. He was clearly gassed, as he was able to stay up in the zone with a few more mph in the 8th inning. It's comical that he was left in that long. Oh, and Ozzie, why not use Crain instead of Santos then?

Sox (11-21) vs Mariners (15-17) 5/6 @ 9:10 CSN
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 7, 2011 -> 04:49 AM) He's not getting demoted. In fact, if Peavy shows he's healthy, I think a pitcher is going to get traded pretty soon. Wouldn't shock me for a second if Danks is first to go, with someone on Sox leaking to Heyman he will file for free agency after 2012.

Sox (11-21) vs Mariners (15-17) 5/6 @ 9:10 CSN
QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 7, 2011 -> 04:45 AM) I didn't see it so tell me what was the big mistake(s) Ozzie made, other than leaving Thornton in so long? Pitched to Babe Smoak with an open base instead of going after Cust, who looked bad vs Humber. Stone was questioning it even before the decision.

Sox (11-21) vs Mariners (15-17) 5/6 @ 9:10 CSN
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 7, 2011 -> 04:45 AM) Supposedly they are going to a 6 man rotation. That's going to piss off all starters on our team not named Phil. Jackson, Buehrle and Danks going to lose so money cause of it.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 7, 2011 -> 04:42 AM) I'm sure there's a Josh Phegley clone out there somewhere. Any good players out there that are playing in college football? I was a fan of Mitchell when we picked him, but even he seems to be a likely bust.
