  1. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Dec 11, 2010 -> 03:06 AM) Good 2nd quarter for the Bulls. This game has been horrible to watch though. Yep, great 2nd half for Bulls. Korver needs to be playing 35 minutes a game just to spread out the offense. Not sure who is playing worse tonight, D. Fisher or Taj?
  2. Bulls look overmatched against Lakers. I can't believe Bogans continues to get the start, and Boozer seems to just get in the way on offense more than he should be. Team definitely had better chemistry before Boozer returned.
  3. Cubs are going to try and get Garza for guys like Carpenter, Archer, etc. It would be funny if they got Garza, as it would give them two of the most unlikeable players ever in Zambrano and Garza.
  4. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Dec 9, 2010 -> 10:34 PM) We might as well throw Jordan in too. Make it kind of a double family affair thing. Then we'd have to get BJ from Tampa, because i'm getting all sentimental in this holiday season. If I'm getting BJs from the state of Florida, I'm going to Gainesville and hitting on the Florida dance squad.
  5. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 9, 2010 -> 11:21 PM) I'd package Johnny Danks + all of our prospects for Upton in a heartbeat. Agreed, especially if you can get a mediocre starting pitcher in return for Quentin.
  6. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 9, 2010 -> 09:11 PM) Man I wish we had enough in the stable to get Justin Upton. Please tell me this is a cryptic message.
  7. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 9, 2010 -> 07:10 PM) Ok, I know nothing about this guy. What is so intriguing about him? I assume we are referring to the guy that had played with the Blue Jays? All I can tell is that even the one year he posted a good ERA he had a horrendous WHIP (>1.5). I assume he has a live, power arm or something? Throws a cutter, I'm pretty sure. I think he has some drastic splits, as righties hit him much better.
  8. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 9, 2010 -> 05:03 PM) I have no faith whatsoever in this organization to develop position players, let alone a catcher. I don't know what happened to Broxton last year. But from 2006 through 2009 he sported a 2.79 ERA, a 1.12 WHIP, a K/9 of nearly 12 and an ERA+ of 154. Not sure what his contractual status is. But he's one of the few relievers I'd have no problem with dealing Viciedo for. Torre also killed his arm by trying to have him pitch multiple innings. There were games I watched where there was no excuse for him to still be on the mound.
  9. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 9, 2010 -> 05:47 PM) We have top prospects? I keep feeling like we'll trade Viciedo, Flowers, and Teahen for Broxton.
  10. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 9, 2010 -> 04:42 PM) Posting from my phone. Could be a rumor but I hear the Sox are deep in talks that involve some of our top prospects for pitching. Maybe we are also trading someone from our rotation? And there goes my work day.
  11. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 06:24 PM) One thing I think we're missing here is the fact that we don't know exactly what has transpired over the past three days. We have been going off of tweets and posts from people who have sources, hear things, etc. We don't know that it was all PK who held this up. And we don't know for sure that he was asking for $15 million a year. My speculation is that the sticking point was the third year. And they came to an agreement including the third year with some creative deferrment. I'm not saying PK is innocent at all, but to say he's greedy and he acted like Jeter...I don't know. Agreed, great post. We have no clue how much he was asking for, and considering what he finally signed for, it seems like Konerko and Landis holding out for $15 million was incorrect. Whatever happened, we got a good deal out of this.
  12. So is he just prime trade bait now? Seems like he's blocked for 3 years now. I have no problem trading him with his value being pretty high.
  13. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 05:20 PM) It is but we'll be able to sign a decent reliever for relatively cheap and then go out and trade for one somehow. Like I said, KW isn't leaving the pen like this, not happening. Everything I've heard is Thornton or Sale is closer, and they'll sign Byrdak as their other lefty reliever.
  14. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 03:46 PM) 37.5M over 3 years per ESPN. Not bad at all!
  15. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 03:46 PM) LOL. It's not goint to be 10 mil a year. You guys can forget that right now. For real...anything under 40 million for 3 years is fine with me.
  16. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 06:30 AM) If Carlos Pena and his .732 OPS are about to get 10 million, this could be bad news. Yes, but he's sacrificing a year on his deal for more salary. It's classic Boras, as he wants Pena to rebuild his reputation and be a free agent again soon.
  17. If I didn't know better, I would think that Keith Appling has money on Syracuse tonight. Holy cow, awful!
  18. QUOTE (He_Gawn @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 04:28 AM) Honestly, it would not surprise me to see Purdue miss the NCAA tournament. They'll be ok because they'll play tough at home. I still laugh at people saying Jajuan Johnson is one of the 5 best players in the country.
  19. Cubs are trying to acquire Chris Davis and D. O'Day. O'Day is a big time reliever, so be interesting to see what they give up for him.
  20. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 12:04 AM) PK not signing is probably in the best interest of team success. PR on the otherhand... The Sox have handled this brilliantly, as they put the ball in PK's court. The whole AJP/Dunn "deferred money" quote was brilliant by the Sox.
  21. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 7, 2010 -> 11:00 PM) Does anyone have a clue what Lee would like to do next year? Since him being plan b or c hasn't been quite the secret the last few days, I'm sure someone would have heard from a "source" if he wasn't interested in the White Sox.
  22. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Dec 7, 2010 -> 10:54 PM) more... "....thing that impressed me the most about Dunn was how excited he was to be on the white sox...." Dunn's radio interviews on Friday were amazing. He said as soon as he heard Sox were interested, he told his agent to get something done. I truly feel like he had his heart set on playing for either the Cubs or Sox, and once Cubs weren't interested, it was a slam dunk.
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 7, 2010 -> 10:49 PM) What other 1b has even talked about a 2 year deal? LaRoche? He's coming off a 1 year deal himself. Everything I've read about Lee has suggested a 1 year deal. Might well be best for him too if people think he's a health risk. No scenario made Viciedo being traded more likely than Konerko re-signing. Any other guy coming in means that DV has a role right here in 2012, right when he should be here. Let's wait to see how it plays out, but I'd be surprised if the Sox didn't at least sign someone to two years.
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 7, 2010 -> 10:43 PM) Where on earth would you get that idea? If 14 doesn't re-up, then they're going to be even more desperate for a 1b/DH next year. I guess Kotsay could be available and Dunn could play 1b. Cause we'll sign a 1B to a 2 year deal, and it will be 1B/Dunn over there for the next few seasons. The Sox absolutely do not think Viciedo can play 3b or the outfield, so where exactly is he going to play?
