  1. Again, playing like a team trying to get their manager fired.
  2. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 4, 2011 -> 07:38 PM) but give the guy credit - he partied like a rock star Is that what it was? Truth be told, I saw him at Providence, and never thought he'd make it.
  3. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 4, 2011 -> 07:35 PM) And paulie breaks his foot Just stepped away...that bad?
  4. Wow, look at the Dodgers lineup today. Looks like a split-squad lineup.
  5. Juan Pierre is a great guy and have never heard anything bad about him....but someone get him a drug test, as Steve Howe seemed more coherent than Pierre does this year.
  6. Times like this you have to be thrilled that Pierre is one of the most durable players in baseball.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 4, 2011 -> 07:23 PM) Ricky was caught 42 times in 1982. So he's about on pace? If we face B. Anderson next week, that should be a few more.
  8. Haha Juan...at least we can see if he can break caught stealing record this season! Anyone know what it is?
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 4, 2011 -> 06:15 PM) Well, now the only remaining question is whether we'll get a hit during this shutout. I'm predicting the first ever game where one team hits into 9 double plays in one game.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 4, 2011 -> 06:08 PM) If he's going to say that and he thinks that he's part of the problem then he should quit. Otherwise its a copout. Yep, it's like a pity party then for himself.
  11. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ May 4, 2011 -> 05:53 PM) Shocked no votes for 2003. That team was absolutely stacked. Absolute murderer's row of a line-up with Thomas, Konerko, Ordonez, Lee and Everett. Starting pitching was Loaiza in his near Cy Young year to go along with Colon, Mark, and Garland. That roster should have been winning the World Series. Instead they won 86 games and lost out to a pretty awful Twins team. Konerko was just dreadful that year and we had no semblance of a 5 starter. Those were our downfalls. Nicely done, but a year in which we have a pitcher set the prestigious Mexican strikeout record can't be considered disappointing.
  12. So a thought came to me that really frustrated me about last night. Twice this year, the Sox faced a lefty where they only scored one run against the starter (Braden, Britton). In both of those games, the only run came due to Lillibridge. Why is Ozzie not finding a spot against LHP for one of our few dangerous hitters right now?
  13. The Indians have a lot of "magic" so far this season.
  14. The last few years with KW definitely is a perfect example of John Wooden's quote of "don't mistake activity for achievement".
  15. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 4, 2011 -> 03:39 PM) The circumstances that led to the Nick Swisher trade and then the subsequent giving away of Nick Swisher were pretty brutal, too. The Danks deal was a big-time win. Was that KW's last victory? He won Quentin for Carter. As for Swisher, I get so pissed when people say "well KW had to trade him for scraps cause he wasn't a good fit in the clubhouse". Well, just like with Orlando Cabrera, isn't it KW and Ozzie's responsibility to do their research to make sure that players they acquire are going to be good clubhouse fits? It's not like Swisher came here and acted differently than he had in Oakland. It's not his fault that Konerko, Dye and Thome were uptight leaders.
  16. Buddy Bell gets way too much credit around these parts. Sure, we've changed our philosophy in the first round to go after higher ceilng guys. However, we're still in the bottom 5 with regards to our farm system, and we still see significant holes from our prospects when they're called up to the majors. It's going to be interesting to see if the Sox give up/trade Beckham sooner rather than later.
  17. 2006...that was a great, exciting team up until Iguchi's game winning single heading into the ASB.
  18. I'd like to see this lineup: Pierre Rios Konerko Dunn Quentin Alexei Teahen Beckham AJP
  19. Interesting tidbit I heard. Bulls are VERY interested in drafting Iman Shumpert with one of their two late 1st round draft picks. He'd give them a good defender and length off the bench at the combo guard position. It's likely the main reason he decided to stay in the draft.
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 4, 2011 -> 03:06 PM) I could tell you it was mechanical! In fact I did that yesterday! It was nuts...his left arm seemed to be on the far end of the left part of the mound, and the rest of his body was on the far right part.
  21. So what's happened to Broxton? Just overuse over the years? He was throwing 89-91 mph last night after averaging 98 mph a few years ago.
  22. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 4, 2011 -> 04:55 AM) They guy who wrote the story didn't write in until AJ was released, and there has never been confirmation from another player. If AJ was as hated as you claim, that would have come out a lot sooner, and there would have been at least 24 other players, plus coaches plus trainers telling everyone they could about it. IIRC, Tomko confirmed that story.
  23. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ May 4, 2011 -> 03:52 AM) Have the Sox done less with a championship season than any other baseball team in recent memory? Good question, but with each passing year, it makes me appreciate 2005 even more. Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, went right for us and we capitalized on those breaks. It was definitely a fluke, but not in a bad way. We deserved the World Series that year as much as any team has in a long time.
  24. Nepotism Night would be great. Everyone that has a job because of their dad would receive either an Oney Bobblehead or a KW Jr. Bobblehead
  25. QUOTE (kapkomet @ May 4, 2011 -> 03:09 AM) Why Thursday(s)? Off days, much easier to do something drastic
