Osama's Dead Sox Not Yet Game Thread
QUOTE (cws0591 @ May 3, 2011 -> 03:23 AM) your up by 4 runs and your offense isn't hitting. you tell me how it is stupid to try 2 advance a base runner any way possible? It's just symbolic of Ozzie's dumbass approach of always trying to have our guys steal with 2 outs in an inning.

Osama's Dead Sox Not Yet Game Thread
QUOTE (ptatc @ May 3, 2011 -> 02:16 AM) Yes, it's stupid because sitting back and waiting for the home run has been doing well for the offense lately. Or maybe it's the extremely high rate of hits our offense is producing. It's stupid cause they always get caught. Our success rate seems to be below 50% this season.

Rios swinging the bat really well tonight. Just when you get excited, you get frustrated by another stupid caught stealing.

Thibs got burned this quarter with a bad lineup on the court. Korver needs to be out there when we're struggling.

Great play by Pierre last inning. Quentin is such a pop up machine right now. I hope our new hitting coach can work with him on hitting hanging breaking pitches. He's terrible at that.

Nice that Juan was able to flare a hit, but holy hell, he has no speed anymore. Rios looked very good in his AB, and Beckham had a pretty solid at bat.

QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ May 2, 2011 -> 10:26 PM) Hahah cmon, you did not in any way shape or form point out that other people should be closing over Jenks. You were behind him 100% no matter how bad he was. I love Jenks (look at my damn username) and was probably the funnest part of games from 05-08, but he wasn't at all reliable for the last 2 years and is doing even worse now. Sticking up for players is one thing, blindly hating or loving a player based on horrible logic is another. Agreed Jenksy, watching Jenks pitch was electric. Still remember that 1-0 win over Cardinals in 2006 when he was throwing 99mph to Juan Encarnacion. On the bright side, it's getting pretty damn fun watching Santos.

2011 Cubs Thread
Two interesting tidbits on Pena: 1- Boers and Bernstein pointed out him as someone they were sure was a PEDs user a few years ago 2- Remember Hawk talking about how amazed he was that the ball was jumping off of Pena's bat when he went to Tampa as opposed to how he had little power before? It might have been kalapse on here saying how obvious it was PEDs, but Hawk was too naive.

We need to pack the The Cell Tuesday & Wednesday
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 1, 2011 -> 10:16 PM) Which means that we're less than 20% in and we're more than 1/2 the season away from those irrelevant games. You keep mentioning Memorial Day at the "get real" date, and it's interesting how poorly our schedule plays out for the next few weeks. Even with the team playing good, a .500 record over the next few weeks would have been decent.

We need to pack the The Cell Tuesday & Wednesday
QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ May 1, 2011 -> 11:12 PM) Or the fact that we have played less than 20% of the season and some people are already writing it off? In baseball, you can easily make the last 30% of games irrelevant if you fall behind too much and go into sell mode.

Make the Case for Ozzie
QUOTE (Paint it Black @ May 1, 2011 -> 10:05 PM) The Tigers are a personal thing for me, as I didn't think they were that good to start the season and I still don't. Nor did I think it would take 90 wins to win this division...and I still don't. The Indians just cannot keep this up. I mean I know I can't really prove why they won't, but their pitching isn't that good and there is no way the guys who are always injured (Sizemore, Hafner) will stay healthy all year. The Indians have now won 13 straight at home. That correction will be very, very fun. Hopefully we catch them when it's happening. Indians have some decent starting pitching depth though, with White coming up and Huff pitching in the minors. The most obnoxious part of the Indians surge is that OC is their "leader".

Joe Magrane just said on MLB Network "the White Sox seem like a dead baseball team". Sums it up perfectly.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ May 1, 2011 -> 09:56 PM) I don't know how to respond. Assuming no injuries to core players, I don't know how it can be worse.

Gordon Beckham
QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ May 1, 2011 -> 09:47 PM) If you think they're playing hard then you're watching a different game than I've been for the past 2 weeks, they are playing like they want Ozzie fired. A perfect example of this is Teahen who couldn't grab the hard hit ball down the line last night (not an easy play) and pouted for a bit, quit on the play, and then wasn't ready for Alexei's peg that would have easily gotten the guy out at 3rd. They really are. The last straw for me was Konerko getting picked off at first by the catcher when he had a 2 foot leadoff.

Make the Case for Ozzie
QUOTE (iamshack @ May 1, 2011 -> 09:46 PM) No, it really could not be worse. I don't want to hire some old retread though. We need some new blood. Let's call up Dave Martinez. I couldn't agree more with you on this whole post. This organization needs new blood.

Make the Case for Ozzie
QUOTE (Tex @ May 1, 2011 -> 10:40 PM) There isn't a guy 25% better available right now. You don't know that. You don't know if there's someone out there, like Cito Gaston, that will stress a different type of offensive philosophy and approach that will get this offense going again. No one knows how the team will perform with manager X, Y or Z...but the current manager's way of doing things is not working right now.
