  1. Not sure where there's stats on this, but Maynard and Gould have to be the worst combo of punter/kicker in the NFL...right?
  2. I could really go without seeing another Forte run up the middle. It's a 2 yard gain at best. The OL is doing a much better job with pass protection today.
  3. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 12, 2010 -> 05:20 PM) I would hope that the decision makers would be able to see that it was a routine grounder that should have been caught and not judge Hudson solely on the numbers and the final outcome. If not, then boy are we in trouble. Judging by the interations we saw from the Front Office on "The Club", there were some short-sighted thinkers.
  4. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 12, 2010 -> 05:04 PM) Trading Hudson was stupid. They just gave up on him too soon. I like Jackson's arm. Check it, I love the arm, but the money taken on was what made is so bad, imo. All we as Sox fans can do is hope that Jackson pans out. Sox said they didn't like Hudson and it looks obvious that whatever judgment they made was too short-sighted. Who knows what might happen going forward, but they wrote a rookie off in a couple games, some of which were pretty darn good ones. I still wonder if Hudson would be a part of the Sox if Beckham could have made a play on a pretty routine grounder in Oakland that resulted in Hudson having a bad start. Also, I think the fact there were some in the Sox Front Office that didn't view Hudson as anything more than a #3/4 starter in the years to come caused the trade.
  5. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Nov 12, 2010 -> 04:13 AM) Now, fathom, that's ridiculous. Maybe one idiot Illinois fan said that, but I highly doubt that's being said. Granted I don't read Illini message boards, but there's no way the "fanbase" (which implies a lot of people) are comparing those two players to Magic and Dwight... And if they are, Illinois fans have become dumb as s***. Oh, and don't forget Brandon Paul to D. Wade. Actually, they're saying Leonard is more athletic than Dwight Howard is, and of course Dickey Simpkins being the idiot he is doesn't help their astronomical expectations of these players. I swear I'm not making this up.
  6. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 12, 2010 -> 02:28 PM) I frequent multiple Illini boards on an hourly basis almost and have never seen that comparison. Rivals insider site for Illinois has been comparing Leonard to Howard all week, with many suggesting he'll be the first pick in the draft in two years.
  7. Wonder how soon the Heat make a coaching change?
  8. Dwight was sensational on The Office tonight.
  9. Nice defense by Golden St. so far tonight. Rose could score 50 if he wanted to.
  10. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 12, 2010 -> 02:37 AM) They have one for 2011 and one for 2012. Nothing higher than a 3 star in 2010. My initial post was assuming they got Yogi, who I'm sure you know is a 5 star guard. I'm not an avid follower of IU basketball, but I've sent on Illini message boards about how Crean has landed some really strong 2013 or 2014 guys, correct?
  11. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 12, 2010 -> 02:22 AM) He's right though, its going to take more than one kid to turn that program into one that can compete with the top tier in the conference. I see comments below inferring that he will automatically bring in 5 star after 5 star which will build the program back up, it takes alot more than that in the Big Ten. And FYI, alot of those 5 stars are one and done players, I've been watching a revolving door for several seasons now. As for being the cream of the Big Ten? For 2011 they are going to have to do alot more work to establish that. Illinois has the top class right now, OSU is most likely taking 5 players (1 3 star 3-4 stars 1-5 star) and MSU already has a better class than IU. Indiana is a loaded state over the next several years and im sure IU will lock up some of the best ones, but so will Purdue, OSU, MSU and even ILL. We are all happy for you and all, but dont put the cart before the horse quite yet. Isn't Indiana bringing in three 5 star players in the next 2 years?
  12. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Nov 11, 2010 -> 11:03 PM) Are you serious? It was his second full season of professional baseball and his first full year in the majors. All this talk about Beckham being a mental midget is completely absurd. The kid had some difficulty handling failure for the first time in his baseball career, but he rebounded nicely in the second half. Trading him because of those struggles would be a huge mistake. Beckham's metal issues about his swing/success in the majors took place prior to last season, and as soon as he got off to a slow start, seemed to spiral more out of control.
  13. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 11, 2010 -> 11:14 PM) I'm happy for IU and all, but I think the fans need to be a LITTLE more realistic. This guy is not a John Wall or Derrick Rose type. And Indiana is still FAR away from the recruiting of Michigan State, Ohio State and Illinois. Indiana's upcoming recruiting classes are shaping up to be the cream of the Big 10, and you can't underestimate the impact Zeller's commitment is going to have on players like Yogi. No offense jenks, but I find this ironic coming from an Illini fan who belongs to a fanbase that compares Jereme Richmond to Magic Johnson and M. Leonard to Dwight Howard.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 11, 2010 -> 09:12 PM) If he is, then the Sox know something behind the scenes about him that we don't. This is very true, and from the sound of it, they're very concerned about his mental approach to the game.
  15. As Beckham's biggest fan, I have no problems with him being dangled as trade bait. If you can get an impact power bat that's signed for more than a year, go ahead and do that.
  16. QUOTE (chisoxt @ Nov 10, 2010 -> 07:35 PM) This information in and of itself, begs the question why the trade was made to begin with, without any kind of salary releif. Dumb. Dumb. Dumb. There are rumors out there that the Sox have a very nice insurance policy taken out for Peavy. And yes, the Padres were very happy to unload him with all of the injury/other concerns about him.
  17. Favorite one of the series tonight with Marcus Dupree. Amazing video footage.
  18. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Nov 9, 2010 -> 10:12 PM) I'll assume Cubs. PK over Frank? No. He's not only been my favorite Sox player, but I would also say he's one of the 3 most important in Sox history as well. I'd hate to see him go to the Cubs, but I highly doubt he does that.
  19. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Nov 9, 2010 -> 09:02 PM) I think he's talking about you, dude. Yeah, and he's saying some would view Konerko as the greatest player in Sox history or Cubs history?
  20. So the two Heisman front-runners are really great people!! I think Tebow should win it this year based on character.
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 9, 2010 -> 08:46 PM) Point...missed... Yep, still don't understand the hidden meaning
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 9, 2010 -> 08:31 PM) I know one thing, he would suddenly become the greatest player in franchise history for at least a few people here. He already isn't?
  23. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Nov 9, 2010 -> 07:46 PM) I would honestly rather not see him pitch for us until mid-way through the season in '11. Let him take all the time in the world to REALLY get back to 100%. If he's throwing off a mound in January, let him keep working his endurance and velocity up until he's Jake Peavy again. Trying to rush back will obviously only hurt him. One of the problems with the Hudson for Jackson trade though is that you really have to go for it all in 2011. If you hold off Peavy until the ASB, then he'll probably struggle the rest of the year to find a rhythm. Rather just take your lumps as you go with him....sadly, he's getting paid SO MUCH money that your team is likely screwed if such a high priced player can't contribute (unless you're Yanks or Red Sox).
  24. I just can't see Boston getting outbid for AGon. Cubs have the high-end prospects to get it done, but then it would kill their payroll as well as chances of having cheap talent. Dunn is a more likely target, especially since he wants to play there.
