October 3, 201114 yr I realize our system is very thin but there is no way in hell Escobar is our top prospect.
October 3, 201114 yr Can we look for our top prospects on other teams lists? If we can then we can think what might have been
October 3, 201114 yr QUOTE (kevo880 @ Oct 3, 2011 -> 12:51 PM) I realize our system is very thin but there is no way in hell Escobar is our top prospect. Trying to turn him into trade-fodder?
October 3, 201114 yr QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 3, 2011 -> 12:19 PM) Trying to turn him into trade-fodder? More likely trying to pave the way for a Ramirez trade.
October 3, 201114 yr QUOTE (Marty34 @ Oct 3, 2011 -> 01:24 PM) More likely trying to pave the way for a Ramirez trade. Because listing him highly devalues Alexei since it convinces everyone that the Sox must move Alexei to bring in their hot young prospect. Ergo, the Sox are trying to destroy Alexei's trade value, to make sure that they get a bad deal for him. KW is on the Ozzie Guillen path of wanting to be fired, and he's going to make that happen.

Kenny Williams, aka the Illuminati.

Easier to explain trade to fans. I don't think that's the case as Mayo doesn't work for the Sox, but it would make a lot more sense than trying to build Escobar's trade value. The Sox aren't in "trade prospect" mode.
October 3, 201114 yr QUOTE (Marty34 @ Oct 3, 2011 -> 01:38 PM) Easier to explain trade to fans. I don't think that's the case as Mayo doesn't work for the Sox, but it would make a lot more sense than trying to build Escobar's trade value. The Sox aren't in "trade prospect" mode. WTF?
October 3, 201114 yr QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 3, 2011 -> 12:41 PM) WTF? They can say they could deal Ramirez because their #1 prospect is Escobar.
October 3, 201114 yr QUOTE (Marty34 @ Oct 3, 2011 -> 01:44 PM) They can say they could deal Ramirez because their #1 prospect is Escobar. And they'd be scoffed at deservedly unless the return was stellar.
October 3, 201114 yr QUOTE (Marty34 @ Oct 3, 2011 -> 12:44 PM) They can say they could deal Ramirez because their #1 prospect is Escobar. They aren't dealing Alexei unless this team goes into a complete sell mode.
October 3, 201114 yr QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 3, 2011 -> 12:50 PM) They aren't dealing Alexei unless this team goes into a complete sell mode. Well . . . It's not at all far-fetched that they do go into "complete sell mode" in my opinion.
October 3, 201114 yr QUOTE (Marty34 @ Oct 3, 2011 -> 12:57 PM) Well . . . It's not at all far-fetched that they do go into "complete sell mode" in my opinion. With $50 million dead dollars on the roster, it is impossible.
October 3, 201114 yr QUOTE (Soxfest @ Oct 3, 2011 -> 05:49 PM) Sox farm system is so paper thin, it may be the worst in MLB. Marlins might be now
October 3, 201114 yr QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 3, 2011 -> 12:59 PM) With $50 million dead dollars on the roster, it is impossible. Not impossible at all.
October 3, 201114 yr QUOTE (Marty34 @ Oct 3, 2011 -> 01:01 PM) Not impossible at all. So who is taking on Dunn, Peavy, and Rios?
October 3, 201114 yr QUOTE (oldsox @ Oct 3, 2011 -> 11:27 AM) Just noticed that the Sox revised the Top Ten Prospect List. http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/mlb/prospects/watch/y2011/ You are suggesting that the White Sox rank their own prospects and then publish that list on the mlb site? This list must be created by someone else. Correct me if I'm wrong, someone who actually knows the answer.
October 3, 201114 yr QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 3, 2011 -> 01:03 PM) So who is taking on Dunn, Peavy, and Rios? Rebuild around them. I've written it in other threads so I won't bother everybody by doing it again.
October 3, 201114 yr Literally the only person who thinks trading Alexei is a good idea is Marty, there is no chance the Sox trade a very good cheap SS right now, zero chance. Edited October 3, 201114 yr by RockRaines
October 3, 201114 yr QUOTE (Marty34 @ Oct 3, 2011 -> 01:17 PM) Rebuild around them. I've written it in other threads so I won't bother everybody by doing it again. The idea of a complete rebuild is to get rid of all large contracts. If you aren't doing that, you aren't rebuilding.
