  1. Way to go EJax! Nice location on those fastballs. I really want to like you, I swear.
  2. Sure doesn't look like Jackson is pausing long enough out of the stretch. Just like the numbers show, his slider is NOTHING like what it was last season. If he doesn't throw it in the dirt, it's absolute meat for the hitter.
  3. Yikes, terrible slider by Jackson. He must have tipped that pitch.
  4. Great AB by Konerko there...Rios with a bad base running decision.
  5. QUOTE (balfanman @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 08:47 PM) One minor point that may just be semantics, but Rongey, I believe said that Kotsay is a good "clubhouse" guy. That to me signifies that he is good at encouraging others and maybe giving advice to younger players, things of that sort. I don't know that Thome was like that. Jim was always considered a gentleman, and was well liked because he was such a nice guy. Jim might not of been the best "player coach" so to speak. For all we know Mark Kotsay could be sort of a jerk at times, but knows how to help others. Again, could just be a matter of semantics and I personally have never met either of them, it's a "maybe that's why". I'm so sick of hearing these excuses about Sox players who are underachievers. No one is ever held resonsible for anything in this organization. Whe a hitter struggles, it's either mental issues or they're too valuable to get released.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 08:07 PM) Was Jermaine Clement at least funny? Um, no

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 08:44 PM) Without spoilers can you tell us why? I literally laughed once the entire movie, and when it comes to comedies, I'm usually easy to please. It's hard to describe how bad this movie is, except for the fact that I almost walked out of it.
  8. I think the last game thread that southsidedon started was when James Baldwin was on the mound.

Dinner for Shmucks just about the worst movie I've ever seen at the theater.
  10. QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 02:19 AM) If I had to face major league pitchers and I had a .050 BABIP is that just bad luck? No...you would just suck
  11. QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 02:06 AM) I've yet to see a credible argument in favor of this. I mean yeah, there is some deflection, there's some "he's not really why the team loses games" but that's not the point. What's frustrating to me is all the people pointing out "he's having bad luck, as he's hitting it deep but it's getting caught". Doesn't that just mean that he doesn't have the ability anymore to hit the ball over the fence, and since he's not exactly speedy, he's even more of a liability? Heck, if he doesn't have the power, then learn how to slap the ball all over the field instead of rolling over the ball in 60% of your ABs.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 02:04 AM) I have looked it up. Yes, average attendance is slightly down...because of big drops in NYM and Houston and cleveland. There are, by my count, 14 teams with attendance up this year, and 16 teams with attendance down. I'd have to imagine the Sox are going to end up way up from last season? Should have really good crowds for a lot of our remaining home games, especially with the Yanks, Red Sox, and Twins on the schedule.
  13. QUOTE (pktmotion @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 01:58 AM) Lefties are hitting Bonderman .296 this season. I have no problem with Kotsay playing today. He's gotta see AB's to come along, and it's not like he lost the game singlehandedly. They collectively couldn't hit/score. To come along to what? HE SUCKS! He's washed up, and it's pathetic the Sox let a few good weeks last season influence them so much this season.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 01:56 AM) Fathom...are you surprised that baseball GM's are crying poor? Not really, as I know TV shares are way down, which will impact the amount of money they make in coming years. I don't really care about other teams though, but it seems like Sox are doing fairly well money wise.
  15. I'll stick up for NJ, he's always had good information coming from the Phillies source.
  16. B&B made another great point, and it's this: why are the Sox so scared to see if Viciedo can be the impact bat they wanted to acquire? Put him as the full-time DH, and hope he continues to have great at-bats. It could possibly save the Sox approximately 5-7 million if he can perform well and not make the Sox claim Manny. Also, it seems pathetic that all these other GMs were craving Viciedo, yet we're determined to make him a platoon player at best.
  17. Maybe we can just face LHP the rest of the season?? Ozzie's awful love for Kotsay was getting a lot of play on B&B today. Might as well activate Teahen, promote Sale, DFA Kotsay, and send down Torres. We'd be such a better team.
  18. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 01:38 AM) Can't we stick Lillibridge out there? I just hate having such a righty dominant lineup against righties with tough sliders.
  19. Kotsay with a rocket right at the pitcher...he's had a lot of tough luck today.
  20. Funny how Stone goes out of his way to make an excuse for Kotsay.
  21. QUOTE (rafacosta @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 01:54 AM) wtf is mark kotsay still doing in this team? and he starts both games today... Assuming we have no more double headers the rest of the way, I could go without seeing Andruw start another game against RHP.
