  1. I hate Nick Swisher. Our hitters better jump on the fastball, because they're missing that curve by a foot.
  2. One positive so far is that of our 6 outs, 4 of them were hit fairly hard.
  3. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Aug 1, 2010 -> 07:27 PM) This game has the Floyd vs Lilly @ Wrigley feel to it. Gio looks awesome
  4. Quentin needs to alter his mechanics so he can get on top of fastballs from LHP.
  5. Daniel Hudson looking good so far for Arizona. 28 strikes, 13 calls thru 3 innings.
  6. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 1, 2010 -> 06:03 PM) Don't you love it when a player whose only advantage is his glove is used as DH? You're outsmarting us all, Ozzie! Big deal...not like he DH Pierre all the time.
  7. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 1, 2010 -> 07:02 PM) I'm flipping from this to Huddy's start for Arizona. I probably shouldn't be doing this to myself. He's showing much better control so far for Arizona.
  8. QUOTE (pktmotion @ Aug 1, 2010 -> 06:53 PM) 179!! alright. notable misses: Mike Cameron, Willie Harris, Pablo Ozuna. LOL @ our 2007 outfield: Ozuna-Erstad-Dye, whoa. Erstad hit a 2 run homer against C.C. in the first on Opening Day
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 1, 2010 -> 06:35 PM) He's not even close to that bad. Hell he doesn't even have a derogatory nickname yet. That's why I'm saying if certain roster moves are made this week, and he stays on the roster, people will despise him even more.
  10. Hudson's pitching against the Mets right now.
  11. QUOTE (scenario @ Aug 1, 2010 -> 05:13 PM) The lefty PH thing, his defense at 1B, and the fact that he hit .351 in August/September last year will be the excuses. But if you're adding Teahen, that gives you your back-up 1B. Again, the lefty PH thing is worthless, as Ozzie's been reluctant to use him in that role.
  12. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 1, 2010 -> 06:09 PM) Why? Foot injury..also, Hellickson to make his debut tomorrow.
  13. Carlos Pena likely to miss the entire Twins series.
  14. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 1, 2010 -> 05:58 PM) Yeah I'm sure the lefty PH thing is an excuse the team would use that Kotsay is still here. But we play in the American League so pinch hitters really don't mean anything, and who would Ozzie even PH Kotsay for? This all not even pointing out the fact that Kotsay can't hit, so that kind of kills the idea of having him as a pinch hitter. Kotsay's well on his way to being one of the most disliked Sox players ever on this board, especially with what is possibly going to happen over the next few days.
  15. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 1, 2010 -> 04:29 PM) Im glad to see Suzuki get a day off against the Sox Now Stone and Hawk cannot talk about how he's the face of the A's and just signed a contract extension during his first AB!
  16. QUOTE (scenario @ Aug 1, 2010 -> 04:51 PM) I don't disagree that he is adding value to the team. Hell, I'd love to keep him in Chicago, but... Let's just play this out for a minute... Carlos Torres is going to get called up to pitch the second game of the double-header on Tuesday. So, what is the corresponding roster move? Dump the only left-handed pinch hitter we have (Kotsay)? Maybe but unlikely Send down the only backup SS/2B we have (Lillibridge)? Unlikely. A relief pitcher like Threets? Possible. We don't have any players who are candidates for coming down with a mysterious injury. Tank make simply be the most movable player in the short term. I do agree that when Teahen comes up it probably makes more sense for Kotsay to go though. Because Teahen would fill the LH hitter spot... and either Viciedo or Teahen could play 1B. Omar can play SS/2B...and I really could care less about a lefty PH, as who in our lineup would Ozzie even use a PH for? Heck, he let Andruw Jones face a righty closer last weekend with Kotsay on the bench.
  17. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 1, 2010 -> 03:41 AM) I'm in love, man. You think I'm hard on KW right now? Let him give up a talent like Carlos like dumbass Billy Beane did and you'd have to put KW in the witness protection program. I'd dedicate my life to tracking him down. He very well could be a HOF caliber player if he stays in Colorado long-term
  18. In case no one else saw it, Carlos Gonzalez with a 460 ft walkoff homer to win the game and give him the cycle.
  19. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 1, 2010 -> 02:21 AM) Run faster and play better defense would be the only way... He's not overly slow. Definitely faster than Kotsay is.
  20. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 1, 2010 -> 03:15 AM) Basically, we need to pray that Kenny can convince Ozzie to keep Viciedo instead of another player... I don't know what else Viciedo needs to do in order to stay on this roster when Teahen comes back.
  21. Can't link it right now, but KW had some absolutely glowing reviews about Viciedo in Phil Rogers' article on chicagosports.com
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 1, 2010 -> 01:42 AM) Actually, Rios is still hitting .305 since the AS break. The difference is that all of Rios's power came in May (1.106 OPS, 8 HR). Like you said, no power, bad base running, and some defensive miscues. Not saying he's been awful, but he seems a step slower all around. I wonder if anyone knows what his line drive percentage was pre/post?
