QUOTE (Real @ Jul 18, 2010 -> 12:37 AM)
lol, looks like april to me
The good news is that we can't get rid of Jones or Kotsay or Vizquel (not that I want to get rid of Omar) or anything else because they're helping keep certain players mentally stable on the team.
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 18, 2010 -> 12:30 AM)
Liriano had 2 streaks of 7 consecutive retired last night.
well, that's not good it's happened two straight nights.
QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jul 18, 2010 -> 01:26 AM)
Those last 6 ABs were pretty brutal, besides Vizquel's hard hit ball which was ultimately just a first pitch out
Shades of April and May where the starting pitcher would get 7-10 batters retired in a row. The great news is that this is the first time I can remember that happening in a long time.

at least Detroit lost again today...
Tigers aren't nearly the threat the Twins are during the 2nd half of the season.

The Rays/Yankees game started at 4:00 here. I left to go do some brief shopping, got home about 5:45. It was the top of the 4th inning of that game when I got home.
That game ended like 15 minutes ago.
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 18, 2010 -> 01:19 AM)
Has the Twins catcher gone out to the mound tonight?
It feels like a totally different game today.
Haha, excellent point. Well, the 5th inning took like 6 minutes.

Frankly, he's probably totally off on his timing because of that hand, as active as his stance is.
Yep, just don't want to see him develop any bad habits or start doubting himself.
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 18, 2010 -> 12:10 AM)
Are you kidding? Konerko killed that ball and it wound up barely in the first row.
I didn't think he got that one at all. AJP hit a routine fly ball that was 10 feet from the LF warning track earlier, and Valencia/Kubel hit the wall. We didn't see a single ball go to the warning track yesterday.
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 18, 2010 -> 01:06 AM)
I like on the replay how Paul hit that ball so hard that after his swing he stumbled backwards.
Ball is flying out today compared to the first four games here.

No, getting nailed on the hand in game 1 of this series and probably swinging a bat with a bruised hand did that.
Bad hand didn't cause him to swing at two pitches that were 2 feet off the plate, unless he was trying to get the bat thru the zone faster.
Is it in Alexei's contract that he must bunt or fake the bunt once a game? Makes very little sense to not swing at meatballs and put yourself in a situation where you have to hit the offspeed pitch.
