  1. QUOTE (The Critic @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 07:10 PM) Given the past glories of recent pickups, my guess is.......Willie Stargell? The biggest upset of the offseason is that we didn't sign Ivan Rodriguez
  2. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 07:33 PM) The Mariners are building a team and have reportedly kicked the tires around Jenks. Phillies could do the same. I heard yesterday the Mariners were interested in Valverde, FWIW
  3. QUOTE (b-Rye @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 06:26 PM) I think there will be one more big move for a power bat... even if we have to trade Jenks to save $$$ Jenks is staying in Chicago. There's no market for him, as there's still guys like Valverde and Gonzalez left and not a lot of teams needing a closer.
  4. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 06:10 PM) IMO, we'll be saying goodbye to at least one of our top prospects before this winter is over. I really hope it's Jordan Danks, but I could live with using Flowers as a main trade piece.
  5. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 05:51 PM) I'm told the Sox are working hard on adding another bat. Expecting us to hear something soon?
  6. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 06:46 PM) KW isnt done yet BTW. I just hope this was the marginal bat I heard about. Maybe I missed your earlier post, but what did you say about a marginal bat? What else did you hear about with regards to acquiring a bat?
  7. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 06:45 PM) this could be the end of the offseason for kw and if it is id like to see 1. Pierre LF 2. Becks 2b 25HR 3. Rios CF 25HR 4. CQ RF/DH 30HR 5. Kong 1B 30HR 6. AJP C 10HR 7. Jones RF/DH 25HR 8. Teahan 3B 20HR 9. Ramirez SS 20HR get 15 homers from the bench and you got your 200 homers to go along with a pretty good staff If this is the end of the offseason for KW, then he did a horrible job. Thankfully there's a lot of DH type players still available, so I'm confident it's not the end of the offseason.
  8. QUOTE (WCSox @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 06:42 PM) If Kenny can bring Thome back for one more year on the cheap, I'll be pleased with this off-season. I can't believe people still want to see Thome back on the Sox.
  9. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 06:40 PM) He's from Illinois, somewhere outside of Chicago. Homewood-Flossmoor High School in the South Suburbs
  10. I wish Ely well. I'm sure this trade will upset him, as he is a HUGE Sox fan.
  11. As others have mentioned, the only way I get excited about this deal is if Pierre's in LF and we obtain a solid DH.
  12. If he's leading off and Vizquel's batting 9th, we might be bunting 7 times a game
  13. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 03:13 AM) Matsui gone. I'm starting to think that we'd be LUCKY to get Thome and Pods back. Maybe we should start the "trade all the veterans for prospects" talk that we hear towards the end of the season when we suck. Yeah that or the "let the kids play!" talk. Somebody talk me off a ledge and tell me why the Sox offense isn't going to make me wanna shoot my tv next year... If we bring back Pods/Thome, then you should be frustrated.
  14. QUOTE (Wanne @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 03:10 AM) Gomes?.... personally I'd rather just bring Thome back though. Ugh, just say no to Thome. I love me some J. Gomes, and would love to have him on the team.
  15. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Dec 14, 2009 -> 09:14 PM) I put a warning on it! I'm just really scared that we could possibly waste what could be an awesome staff. I think I'm more worried that the organization is just dying to get Kotsay at bats.
  16. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Dec 14, 2009 -> 08:02 PM) Please ignore this post. It has lots of hyperbole and frustration. LOL. Vlads? Thome? Try Mark Kotsay. And the worst Sox offense of all time. Ugh. I really wanted Matsui bad. But hey, we have Alex Rios at 10 mil a year. People keep giving you a hard time, but it's really disappointing how much Rios' contract could be hampering our chances at signing other valuable pieces. I agree with you that Matsui would have been a pefect fit, and 6.5 million isn't a lot.
  17. He'll be signing with the Cubs within a week.
  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 11, 2009 -> 10:24 PM) Do the Joe bashers hate Joe for that youtube he did with AJ or something? Mr. Cowley. If you read this board, I feel you are a great White Sox reporter. Good job as it is obvious you work your ass off covering the White Sox in and out of season. This Bud is for you. Oh my heavens....tell me he didn't just say that!
  19. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 11, 2009 -> 07:31 PM) For once my weak inside info is true. You drilled the Viciedo one last year also.
  20. BTW RockRaines, you're awesome!
  21. Fantastic signing. We're giving a potential top-notch set-up man less than a LOOGY like Grabow's getting.
  22. jphat does make an excellent point about how Rios' contract is even more iffy if he's your RF and not playing CF. I bet anything that KW wishes he could take that move back.
  23. I like Gardner, but if you get him to play CF, you better find someone with good power to be our DH.
  24. QUOTE (b-Rye @ Dec 9, 2009 -> 03:46 AM) if u thaught he was bad last year, wait til he doesn't get to face Buehrle 20 times in a season.
  25. QUOTE (daa84 @ Dec 9, 2009 -> 04:32 AM) why in the world is salmons pulling up for a contested 3 pointer with 8 seconds left???? ugh ....im liking salmons less and less each game he plays He's an awful player. He puts up decent numbers, but he does very little to help a team win.
