  1. QUOTE (WCSox @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 06:42 PM) If Kenny can bring Thome back for one more year on the cheap, I'll be pleased with this off-season. I can't believe people still want to see Thome back on the Sox.
  2. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 06:40 PM) He's from Illinois, somewhere outside of Chicago. Homewood-Flossmoor High School in the South Suburbs
  3. I wish Ely well. I'm sure this trade will upset him, as he is a HUGE Sox fan.
  4. As others have mentioned, the only way I get excited about this deal is if Pierre's in LF and we obtain a solid DH.
  5. If he's leading off and Vizquel's batting 9th, we might be bunting 7 times a game
  6. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 03:13 AM) Matsui gone. I'm starting to think that we'd be LUCKY to get Thome and Pods back. Maybe we should start the "trade all the veterans for prospects" talk that we hear towards the end of the season when we suck. Yeah that or the "let the kids play!" talk. Somebody talk me off a ledge and tell me why the Sox offense isn't going to make me wanna shoot my tv next year... If we bring back Pods/Thome, then you should be frustrated.
  7. QUOTE (Wanne @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 03:10 AM) Gomes?.... personally I'd rather just bring Thome back though. Ugh, just say no to Thome. I love me some J. Gomes, and would love to have him on the team.
  8. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Dec 14, 2009 -> 09:14 PM) I put a warning on it! I'm just really scared that we could possibly waste what could be an awesome staff. I think I'm more worried that the organization is just dying to get Kotsay at bats.
  9. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Dec 14, 2009 -> 08:02 PM) Please ignore this post. It has lots of hyperbole and frustration. LOL. Vlads? Thome? Try Mark Kotsay. And the worst Sox offense of all time. Ugh. I really wanted Matsui bad. But hey, we have Alex Rios at 10 mil a year. People keep giving you a hard time, but it's really disappointing how much Rios' contract could be hampering our chances at signing other valuable pieces. I agree with you that Matsui would have been a pefect fit, and 6.5 million isn't a lot.
  10. He'll be signing with the Cubs within a week.
  11. QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 11, 2009 -> 10:24 PM) Do the Joe bashers hate Joe for that youtube he did with AJ or something? Mr. Cowley. If you read this board, I feel you are a great White Sox reporter. Good job as it is obvious you work your ass off covering the White Sox in and out of season. This Bud is for you. Oh my heavens....tell me he didn't just say that!
  12. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 11, 2009 -> 07:31 PM) For once my weak inside info is true. You drilled the Viciedo one last year also.
  13. BTW RockRaines, you're awesome!
  14. Fantastic signing. We're giving a potential top-notch set-up man less than a LOOGY like Grabow's getting.
  15. jphat does make an excellent point about how Rios' contract is even more iffy if he's your RF and not playing CF. I bet anything that KW wishes he could take that move back.
  16. I like Gardner, but if you get him to play CF, you better find someone with good power to be our DH.
  17. QUOTE (b-Rye @ Dec 9, 2009 -> 03:46 AM) if u thaught he was bad last year, wait til he doesn't get to face Buehrle 20 times in a season.
  18. QUOTE (daa84 @ Dec 9, 2009 -> 04:32 AM) why in the world is salmons pulling up for a contested 3 pointer with 8 seconds left???? ugh ....im liking salmons less and less each game he plays He's an awful player. He puts up decent numbers, but he does very little to help a team win.
  19. Beautifully designed play by VDN coming out of that timeout. I agree that Salmons gives them the best chance to win in that situation. He's doing a great job!
  20. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Dec 8, 2009 -> 03:34 PM) You know... if we did get Carl Crawford for Carlos, and still ended up landing Adrian Gonzalez (pipe dream, I know)... I'd be perfectly fine with Andruw Jones as an everyday right fielder. And then we'd either have to have a 125 million dollar payroll in 2011 to keep the roster together...or the deals would basically put the Sox in a situation where they have a year to contend before the window closes.
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 8, 2009 -> 01:35 AM) I hope he had too many beers, but I read an Ozzie quote where he said Vizquel may even DH AND lead off occassionally. 1995 called and said "Good idea". Well, he also wants Beckham to bat 6th or 7th. It's too early to freak out about everything he says, I guess.
  22. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 8, 2009 -> 02:02 AM) Especially if they are going to make the DH guys like Kotsay and Jones rotating. You aren't going to win short a bat in the AL. I still believe that I wish we didn't bring Kotsay back, as there's no doubt he'll get too many at bats next season.
  23. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Dec 7, 2009 -> 11:34 PM) I like Andruw, but honestly i'd almost rather move TCQ to DH and play Jordan Danks in the OF then devote time to a guy that really has nothing left to prove at this point. I really do think the division is bad enough that Danksy could get 250+ AB's that wouldn't be detrimental to the team. I hope KW can render all this mute by bringing in Upton or another name. So, Danks can pay his due diligence in AAA. I honestly believe that if Danks got time in the majors next year, it would be a huge mistake.
  24. Matsui is the perfect fit for DH, and I think we have a great chance of getting him.
