  1. Wow, you have to be kidding me. Another ridiculous lack of communication by our infield. Feel free to hustle Konerko.
  2. Contreras looks awful out there. Can't control his fastball, and he doesn't have bite on his offspeed pitches.
  3. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 01:12 AM) And the two starts in the 2003 playoffs sealed the deal. By the way, AL umpires, even the Boston homer announcers called PETEY Pedroia out at 3B and admitted Beckham tagged him in the chest...thank god that run didn't score or Hawk would be b****ing all night long. That was a difficult call though, as it's hard for an ump to see the tag high on the chest and the runner's leg hitting the base at the same time.
  4. Contreras is relying a lot on his fastball so far, and Boston seems to be getting good swings on it. The second time through the order is going to get ugly.
  5. BTW, wasn't it nice to see Beckham not bunting Pods over?
  6. Signed on to say that our coaching staff is dismal, but Beckham just made me smile. He would be ridiculous if he played at Fenway.
  7. Wow, the umpiring in the Cubs game is absolutely atrocious.
  8. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Aug 23, 2009 -> 10:19 PM) 5-5 probably.. but I'm leaning towards 6-4. We usually play well versus the good teams so I'm optimistic on that but I can't see us beating the Twins in the series though I think we can take 1 game. You absolutely shut down Peavy if we're more than 6 or 7 games out after the road trip. All reports indicate he's very uncomfortable on the mound, so why even risk him overcompensating for any soreness and messing up his mechanics? Same goes for Danks, as you can put some unusual torque on your shoulder when you can't guide the ball with your finger.
  9. 2-8....the pitching match-ups are terrible in Boston and we don't have the offense to match-up in Yankee Stadium
  10. QUOTE (AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Aug 23, 2009 -> 09:02 PM) Tigers can lose all they want, we still have to win. Boston and Yanks will be tough and we can't beat the Twins in the dome. Tigers are at Anaheim and then vs Tampa next week. Not exactly easy.
  11. QUOTE (SoxPride56 @ Aug 23, 2009 -> 08:58 PM) Right, because Dye would have gotten a hit... Johnson's significantly tougher against lefties.
  12. QUOTE (Friend of Nordhagen @ Aug 23, 2009 -> 08:58 PM) I actually think that this is one of those times when someone needs to be fired, cut or screamed at. We all know that will never happen.
  13. Hell of an AB by Kotsay. I thought Hawk said he was going to be a big reason we made the playoffs? If I was Dye, I would be so pissed off.
  14. QUOTE (The Critic @ Aug 23, 2009 -> 08:53 PM) He was right there on two heaters and fouled them off. Worrisome. Yep he had his pitches to drive.
  15. Why does Ramirez continue to take so many fastballs right down the plate?
  16. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Aug 23, 2009 -> 08:37 PM) That was 4 good pitches to Roberts....he hit the target on every one of them. First time since he's been with the Sox that Pena didn't hang a slider to a batter.
  17. The good news is that we've drawn very well for this weekend series. Almost 100k it seems.
  18. QUOTE (Friend of Nordhagen @ Aug 23, 2009 -> 08:28 PM) Alex Rios looks . . . awful. Would he be the worst #3 hitter in baseball if that's where we played him?
  19. Damn I really thought Rios and his intensity and work ethic was going to come here and turn our season around.
