  1. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Aug 19, 2009 -> 02:15 AM) Callaspo hits .370 as a righty as well. UGH
  2. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Aug 19, 2009 -> 02:19 AM) At the end of last year Garcia pitched decent. What we stand to gain with Hudson doing well, is offset by what we stand to lose if Hudson gets decimated. I can remember in 2003 when the then flavor of the month pitcher Neal Cotts was brought up during the stretch run. I can remember him going to Yankee stadium, .1 IP, 5 er, 4bb. He has only started 1 game after that in his career. His stats in 2003 in AA prior to call up, 2.16 era, 21gs, 108.1 ip, 67hits, 26er, 2hr, 56bb, 133k. Hudson has 56ip in AA, just saying. Yep, and anyone with any baseball smarts knew that walk ratio was going to get him killed in the majors.
  3. Was there any talk on here about why Williams faced Callaspo with two outs and an open base with the lefty up next? Williams is great against lefties, but really sucks against righties.
  4. Jeez, 9 LOB in 5 innings. We'll likely see a lot of Jamey Wright tonight, and he gives us fits.
  5. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 19, 2009 -> 03:02 AM) His stuff came in and out; he had sustained velocity, but not really looking like a worthy candidate to start again. We all know damn well he will be in the rotation for the next month.
  6. Jeff Cox drives me nuts. Not only that, but Rios has got to get into 2nd there.
  7. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 18, 2009 -> 01:57 PM) Our bullpen can potentially be a total mess after back to back starts by Freddy and Jose. Hopefully one of the next 2 starts sees the starter pitch into the 7th. But we have an off day on Thursday thankfully
  8. As I was saying, the Cubs best shot is to win the Wild Card. The Cardinals schedule is tougher, but it lines up perfectly for them so they can skip their non-existent #5 starter a handful of times. Start rooting for Colorado and San Fran a lot.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 18, 2009 -> 05:53 AM) Nice delete on the previous post... I'll be honest, yahoo said end of the 9th after Gonzalez's game. That's when I turned the game on.
  10. Wow, Padres tie it in the 9th on a 2 out, 3-2 double!
  11. I'm actually a fan of RW, as he's serviceable as another LHP in the pen.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 18, 2009 -> 04:38 AM) At that point it is either Randy Williams or Scott Linbrink. If you are answering Williams, you are full of hindsight. Absolutely Williams, go back into the thread. That was a nightmare match-up for a guy who had no confidence that he could throw his fastball over for a strike.
  13. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 18, 2009 -> 05:31 AM) At the same time, the scouting report for Mike Jacobs is fairly self-explanatory. Jacobs slugs nearly 200 points higher against RHP than LHP.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 18, 2009 -> 04:25 AM) But saying a manager doesn't even know what a scouting report is totally is respectful and aware of the game of baseball in 2009... I will say that I've never heard Hawk question pitch selection as much as he has in the last week. That was mostly because we threw seemingly 90 pct low fastballs to Branyan during our series in Seattle. Of course, he turns around and says last Friday that AJP is the best at calling a game in the AL.
  15. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 18, 2009 -> 04:18 AM) Night off. So we're 2 back, 3 in the loss column. As for the bunt, it's simple imo, there's a better chance of Rios stealing a base than Alexei getting a bunt down, not to mention that Alexei has been great with the bat in late inning situations lately. That move just made no sense to me. And that you were going to bring in Kotsay to face a LHP, and Kotsay is brutal against LHP.
  16. QUOTE (mmmmmbeeer @ Aug 18, 2009 -> 04:11 AM) It wasn't Paulie or AJ on 1st, it was a guy with an 86% success rate in SB coupled with a hitter that won 2 games for you late in the last week. Not to mention, Roman Whateverhislastnamewas, threw over once and it was just a miserable move. Sox win so whatever, it just pissed me off so I had to mention it. It seems like we're the only team that doesn't try to automatically steal against relief pitchers. Most relievers it seems are very slow to the plate.
  17. Awesome, there was a chance he could go to Kansas City next year.
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 18, 2009 -> 03:51 AM) Does anyone revel in the wins? It's a great win considering two things: Rios proving himself to his teammates and we won a game while getting Linebrink likely booted from the set-up spot
  19. Hell yes!! Great job by Pods, and welcome to Chicago Mr. Rios
  20. If Lillibridge booted that, this board would have exploded. Be careful here Bobby with the fastball on the inner half!!!!!!
  21. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Aug 18, 2009 -> 03:42 AM) Lillibridge not for Alexei.. but for Nix. Outstanding. Nix was pulled for Kotsay
