  1. QUOTE (Cali @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 03:11 AM) You honestly think there is any chance in hell KW will actually sell? They're gonna be 3 games out. KW is not selling no matter how s***ty they're playing, they will never be more than 5-6 games out all season long. I've said it before, I'll say it again... I'm not saying trade Dye (even though it would be interesting to see what we could get for him), Konerko, Thome. It's guys like Dotel and/or Contreras that should be dealt. I highly doubt our fans will shed a tear if Dotel is traded.
  2. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 02:10 AM) Great then we can have another white flag debacle . Is something wrong with contending ? Our fans only really show up when we're winning anyways, so it's not like it would matter much to them.
  3. Oh Tony, I know you're going nuts thinking we should have traded Alexei to San Fran.
  4. QUOTE (SoxFanForever @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 02:08 AM) Looks like Becks might get a shot at SS sooner than we all thought. Nope, it would be Nix at SS. Truth be told, if the Sox plan on keeping Alexei at SS next year, then you keep Beckham at 3rd.
  5. Oh jeez, you have to hope he didn't tear ligaments in his ankle. Sell KW, sell!
  6. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 02:07 AM) Kotsay is nothing and he's going to play too much. Couldn't agree more. At least we sent down Fields as soon as we could so he couldn't face a LHP.
  7. Hawk and Stoney were begging for a hit-and-run there. Looks like we need another home run to either tie or take the lead.
  8. Gosh, this is two different strike zones that last few innings.
  9. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 03:04 AM) Williams did his job and I thank him for that Hell, he throws harder than Poreda and Jenks
  10. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 02:02 AM) Cowley said the same thing about Pods, he said Pods plays the wall like its got an electric current running through it. yeah, they were saying he was afraid of the wall last night. I didn't think that was the case, and I just think he really struggles on fly balls when he has to run to a spot.
  11. QUOTE (Friend of Nordhagen @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 03:00 AM) Levine's about as useful as a balm bag, but there's probably some validity to this. After all, last spring training when he played the outfield, Alexei was pretty clearly afraid of the wall. I don't even care about the throws going into center field. It's his lack of desire to hang in there when turning the double play that's more frustrating. Nice job Williams.
  12. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 03:00 AM) I'm not afraid to say this, because I know we'll compete even if we sell. KW, break this s*** up. Couldn't agree more.
  13. Very, very long leash for Contreras tonight.
  14. QUOTE (tommy @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 02:58 AM) Wasn't there a point in time how you were saying he calls much better game than AJ? Yes, I think he does call a very good game. However, he's not making errors behind the plate and his offense is worse than Toby Hall's was.
  15. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 02:57 AM) Castro short-armed the throw and Alexei ole'd it. Interesting story, as Bruce Levine basically said today that AJP isn't the only Sox player who's sick of Alexei being afraid to get down and dirty in the field.
  16. So at what point do you consider DFA Castro? He's been terrible at the plate and behind the plate.
  17. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 02:55 AM) Pods playing Casilla like he's Albert Pujols. I just pray every day that we don't give him a contract extension. It's been a nice ride this year with him, but let some other team roll the dice on him staying healthy next year.
  18. BTW, Casilla's 6 for 48 against LHP this season.
  19. Pods just got a terrible jump on that, and was playing way too deep anyways. Also, no way do you let Casilla bat lefty in that AB, as he's terrible against LHP!
  20. Jeez, where the hell were two of those pitches?
  21. Like I said yesterday, whenever there's a critical situation between Sox and Twins, Mauer will just call for outside sliders against guys like Konerko and Dye, and they do nothing but pop it up or ground out weakly.
  22. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 02:45 AM) What's not to love? Line drive hitter, see's a lot of pitches, great plate discipline for someone his age, doesn't strike out a ton, works the count, goes with the pitch, had good/improving power, good speed... And you can totally see he's learning from his mistakes at the plate and doesn't make it the next time up.
  23. Home run or nothing from PK, Dye, and Thome these days.
  24. Way to roll over on that outside slider Jermaine!
