  1. I wonder if Beckham's ever seen a pickoff move like this.
  2. Jeez Jermaine, what the hell are you doing out there!! Our veterans can't continue to make such dumb plays.
  3. Just got home. I see that Beckham continues to be the only reason to watch this offense.
  4. Viciedo's homer was against Matt Lindstrom, who's coming back from injury but still throws very hard. As long as it's not an arm injury for Hudson, it's not the worst thing in the world to limit the # of pitches he throws the rest of the year.
  5. QUOTE (The Critic @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 12:37 AM) It's the "What If" factor that keeps Pie around. Teams keep waiting for him to figure it out, but in the meantime he's an ongoing disappointment. I'd rather keep Fields. agreed, Fields is a lot more likely to figure it out than Pie is.
  6. So the Cubs are talking to their minor league team, the Pirates, again?
  7. QUOTE (League @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 06:48 PM) Neither the Cards nor the Cubs are exactly great teams. I guess they figure that they can contend. I'll be stunned if Reds finish within 12 games of the Cards/Cubs this year. That team is done, and probably should shut down Cueto sometime soon.
  8. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 07:20 PM) A certain now banished poster claimed the 2005 White Sox were the cleanest champion of the last 20 years. I think there's a good chance the steroid era started well before anyone has realized it. I got banned?
  9. yep, I can't believe what I'm seeing. I doubt it would be Rolen for Yonder straight up.
  10. I'd like to see Pie reach a little of his enormous potential, but I think Fields would be more useful as part of a package in a bigger trade. Of course, we might want to wait to see how Alexei's ankle is doing.
  11. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 05:54 PM) I think we as White Sox fans have to face the realistic possability that within a year a major name on the 05 team will be strongly tied to steroids. I'm not actually thinking of anybody in particular, but the way the numbers are shaking out, I'm just trying to be logical Wasn't 2005 though the first year that they had testing? I would say it's very likely we were the cleanest World Series winners in a few decades.
  12. QUOTE (zenryan @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 05:53 PM) That whole Red Sox offense was probably on something. I've been telling people on here for 5 years that the son of a scout who I went to Grad School with told me back in 2003 that the Red Sox players were the biggest abusers of PEDs in all of baseball.
  13. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 05:46 PM) This is a glorious day for Yankees fans. Someone needs to link that incredible Bill Simmons article the day the Manny news first broke.
  14. So at what point does their World Series win in '04 get tarnished? I'm of the opinion that it already is. I would love to hear what Schilling has to say about htis.
  15. I'm shocked!!! So you're saying he didn't starting putting up Hall of Fame numbers for a period of time because he simply changed his hitting philosophy?
  16. This Cardinals-Dodgers game is one of the better games of the season. Both teams are extremely talented and play very good defense.
  17. QUOTE (beautox @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 02:59 AM) we are just three games back and this division is garbage. But our starting SS just went down with something wrong to his ankle and our starting LF still isn't 100%. this season is so frustrating. the oakland home stretch and now this road stretch. ughh And our DH has a bad back
  18. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 03:54 AM) There is very little we could do at the trade deadline that will help us win next year. That is all in the offseason. Acquire a few more chips to then use in a trade this offseason for Carl Crawford. We have a player now in Beckham we can build our offense around.
  19. So Gordon Beckham is good. He also hasn't made an error since the ASB, I believe.
  20. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 03:45 AM) I mean seriously. f***ing Detroit had every f***ing ball in the world fall in, and we cant get f***ing one. It's just unreal. It's always that way in Minnesota. It seems like they have 8 outfielders.
  21. At least he was looking for the first pitch fastball. Hawk's going to make that sound like the most vicious line drive in history. Terrible loss...bad offense, bad scouting, and questionable managing. Hell of a series!
