QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 04:07 AM) I will say this one thing... he better develop some velocity. explain?

QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 03:06 AM) I think KW should try to get a solid 3B and move Beckham to SS and Alexei back to 2B and Getz to the bench, minors or anywhere else.... Ozzie's too stubborn to move Alexei back to 2nd base.

QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 04:04 AM) I could see Danks as a no. 5 hitter if he develops power. However, it seems like with us and outfield prospects, that's a big if. The answer to that would be that we don't buff our minor leaguers up with performance enhancers like other organizations do.

QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 03:03 AM) I guess it depends on who else is on the team. Some people might question having Mauer bat second, but it makes sense that you would want to get your two best hitters at bat in the first. I also noticed Beckham isn't pointing his bat as forward anymore and has his hands in closer, so that should help him hit the inside fastball better. It's so refreshing to see young players making the right adjustments. He really reminds me so much of Michael Young

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 04:01 AM) Well I agree with that, but I like him as a guy who hardly K's, can take a walk, and can hit doubles and still drive in Danks2, Mitchell, whomever in the future and Flowers or whoever else to man the 3rd spot. If he goes into 3.. you won't hear an argument on my end, but I like a gap to gap machine at the 2 spot. In a perfect world, Getz is your #9 hitter and that gives you some excellent speed when the order turns over. I still don't think Danks is a top of the order hitter, and more likely to be in the 7th or 8th spot.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 03:58 AM) It's debatable. Me, Slav and others see Beckham as a stud 2 hole hitter, with the XBH, gap to gap machine. Fathom, Wite and others see him as a 3 hole hitter, with more power potential, XBH, machine. I honestly don't care as long as he's in the top 3 of the batting order. I don't care if he only hits 18-20 homers a year. With his ability to hit doubles, that would be deadly in the 3rd spot with fast players in the 1/2 spots.
-
QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 03:56 AM) I still wonder where his future spot in the lineup is. I'm gonna say the 2 hole, mainly because he likely won't hit for the power you want for your no. 3 hitter, but you want to get him an AB in the 1st inning. I want the most people on base for him as possible. Your best hitter should be batting 3rd, and that's exactly what he is and will be.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 01:13 AM) You mention the addition of Luke Scott Yes, but then the package would have to be much bigger (gay jokes aside)

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 03:55 AM) The White Sox should be ashamed of themselves. Just completely embarrassed. When you say ashamed, you mean emotionally...right?

Now the real fun starts tonight, with the roster moves taking place. Please don't do anything big KW.
-
Please let that be Wise's last at bat in a Sox uniform. 4 straight losses due to our terrible defense!!!!!
-
Did they say how Thome hurt his back? That's not good considering he didn't play yesterday either.
-
Thome better be in a f***ing wheelchair if he can't hit here.
-
Typical Wise AB is 1) take fastball down the plate 2) foul off pitch 3) swing at slider in dirt

QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 03:48 AM) WHY tHE f*** IS THIS KID HITTING SO f***IN LOW IN THE LINEUP. Cause Ozzie is protecting him and if we need to rely on him, we're in trouble.
-
What a f***ing stud! Gordon makes me so happy.
-
Sure seems like Beckham is in a position to make the last out of the game an awful lot.

QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 03:43 AM) The AL Central is as bad as the NL Central. Cardinals and Cubs are probably better than the Tigers/Sox/Twins

QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 02:34 AM) My problem with Wise isn't that he's a bad player... It still irritates me how he complained about getting boo'ed after he came back from injury. I can't stand players who make excuses for their s***ty play. Instead of saying, "You know, it's tough to come back after being injured." Be a man and admit you suck and say something like, "I know I've been struggling and it is my fault. I'm gonna do nothing but work my ass off to get better." He's got a decent set up at the plate, some pop, is very fast, and a solid defender. I would have no problem with him as a late inning replacement in CF or LF and pinch runner. I got no problem with a player like him on the bench. But he has no business starting if someone isn't injured or needs a day off. But because of his attitude and making excuses for his sucky-ness, I wan't him off the team. He's just not producing, yet Ozzie seemingly wants to find ways to get him into the lineup. He's OMIT, plain and simple.

Mauer does a great job with his pitch selection to our hitters. He plays off of situations and has a great feel for when our hitters are going to be trying to do too much at the plate.
-
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 03:27 AM) Big surprise. Another 0 for night for Wise. He should only be used as a pinch runner at this point but Ozzie knows best right? Watch him start against Liriano tomorrow.
-
QUOTE (onedude @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 03:27 AM) Beckham is wasting away at the 8th spot/ 9th spot in the f***ing order. How often do you see him get a hit or on base only to not score anyone or score himself.....PATHETIC. it's time to move him up. You can't keep having him hit a batter or two after Quentin, and it's not likely the top of the order is producing.
-
Why couldn't Kapler have just hit that ball 20 feet shorter last Thursday? It's going to be frustrating when Fields is traded tonight and Wise stays on the roster.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 03:19 AM) Get badly injured, Dotel. Or get traded. Either way, get badly injured in the near future. by injured, you mean not physically, right?
