2010 Cubs Thread
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 14, 2010 -> 10:27 PM) We're not relying on the lineup to destroy crappy pitching, we're relying on the pitchers to make their hitters look crappy. You know this. The Cubs and Brewers offenses aren't awful, it's their lack of depth in the starting rotation and bullpen that make them average teams.

Truth be told, Gorzelanny looked filthy on Sunday. Hopefully Silva reverts back to form though.

2010 Cubs Thread
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 14, 2010 -> 09:22 PM) Really? We haven't been facing the likes of Verlander or Greinke yet and we still look like a single A offense. No kidding, guys like Baker and Blackburn aren't much different than Randy Wells, etc. Our current lineup is too weak to just destroy crappy pitching, like we used to do in 2006.

Brewers have spent a lot of money on a terrible bullpen.

Wow, that's a bad, bad lineup. Hopefully Morrow walks the world.

Seriously Ozzie?
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 14, 2010 -> 06:06 PM) Which is why KW wanted to hire Cito Gaston in the first place. All things considered, you'd certainly have to argue that hiring Ozzie was the right choice. How long that might continue to be the case remains to be seen. Of course hiring Ozzie was the right f***ing choice.

Seriously Ozzie?
This isn't that big of a deal, but Jerry Reinsdorf has had better days
-
Fire Ozzie
Yes, but you can't blame then lineup without blaming Ozzie for the construction of it. It's too early to call for him to be fired, but if this lineup is a massive bust, changes need to be made at the end of this season.

4/13 GT: Sox @ Blue Jays, Floyd v. Romero
Wow, can't remember a more heartless effort than that. This offense is f***ing boring. Thanks Rios!

4/13 GT: Sox @ Blue Jays, Floyd v. Romero
QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 14, 2010 -> 02:17 AM) I remember this being argued about, people saying these decisions weren't going to matter... yeah... Were those the same conversations where we were told to not even argue, as they were just bluffing about the DH by committee.

4/13 GT: Sox @ Blue Jays, Floyd v. Romero
And another one...mercy, terrible effort at the plate tonight
-
4/13 GT: Sox @ Blue Jays, Floyd v. Romero

4/13 GT: Sox @ Blue Jays, Floyd v. Romero
QUOTE (kev211 @ Apr 14, 2010 -> 01:12 AM) I just started watching now, quick question did we get shutdown like that because Romero was unhittable or because our offense is terrible? He had sensational command/stuff, but our hitters didn't help out by chasing balls and taking strikes.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 14, 2010 -> 01:09 AM) I'm sure glad Omar Vizquel is leading off and getting his ABs. He'll bat .125, and still not see a reduction in his ABs. You had to know this was coming the day he signed.

I'm excited, as Nix went the opposite way with that line drive!

I think it's great that Toronto is giving Rios a standing ovation for that homer.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Apr 14, 2010 -> 01:00 AM) Realistically, there is no way we can upgrade this team now. San Diego isn't trading Gonzalez yet nor is any other team trading top players yet. We have no one in AAA who can come in and make an impact, maybe Flowers but he isn't going to play over AJ or disrupt Ozzie's DH combo. We're gonna be stuck with a s***ty offense all year most likely. We have to hope that Peavy can be a serviceable starter to even have any thoughts of competing this year. I'll gladly take the Sox losing his next 5 starts if the scores are 1-0.

One no hitter is not going to make or break the outlook for this team.

QUOTE (Tannerfan @ Apr 14, 2010 -> 01:48 AM) You make it sound as if Nix is some great player. He's AAAA at best, and a pretty lousy fielder. I'd hate to see him on that fake field And easily one of our biggest threats against LHP.

QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Apr 14, 2010 -> 01:39 AM) If we have to lose I would like to be no-hit. Send a message to KW, all that good stuff, etc. I agree....no one ever remembers the team that gets no hit anyways.
