  1. You could see it clear as day on the replay of the pitch to McDonald. Peavy is opening up way too early, and he's aiming the ball. He's throwing all arm right now. He's going to destroy his elbow if he keeps pitching this way.
  2. Great pitch to McDonald there.
  3. Don't discount the Cooper impact, where he tries to get the pitcher to throw slower in an effort to preserve their arm. But SSI is right, this is someone else wearing Peavy's jersey.
  4. Have no fear, Peavy will give the run right back. I've never seen him look this bad in the majors. He's getting none of his lower body into the pitch.
  5. Pierre has no hits when he's pulled this ball, I believe. I can't believe he's getting the most at bats on our team.
  6. Add me to the crew that thinks Peavy isn't 100 percent healthy. Very nice swing by Rios there, and yes Jones, should play every game.
  7. I like our 2-3-4 a lot. I'm proud that not once during the first week have I criticized Beckham.
  8. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 12, 2010 -> 11:58 PM) You do realize he pretty much never throws his slider in the spring. I heard an interview with Peavy where he mentioned that he threw less than 15 sliders all spring, so I'm hard pressed to see how scouts could make a judgment on his slder. That's probably why then, as they said his slider wasn't good at all. It's weird he doesn't throw that more. I know he has a history of getting off to good starts, as he has 3 career wins on Opening Day.
  9. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 12, 2010 -> 11:57 PM) Yes, all of a sudden he's terrible. I havent see anything from a real scout on that at all. And now the booing is getting ridiculous. They boo everything there? I have a feeling they are booing the vendors when they get their change back. They sell those damn horns there that sound like booing as well. One of the strangest places to ever watch a game.
  10. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 12, 2010 -> 11:50 PM) Or he will be fine because he's one of the best pitchers in major league baseball. But, lets ignore actual reality for a second..... I'm really not sold on that. The scouts were just bashing his stuff this Spring (not just what we heard in the press). It wasn't his fastball they were worried about, but rather his slider was being thrown at a different plane. I really do hope it works out for him in Chicago though, so by no means am I giving up on him yet.
  11. Peavy will be fine, he's just not used to pitching in the cold.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 12, 2010 -> 11:47 PM) Really? 1919? 88 years without a world series? The game where they wore shorts? Disco Demolition night? 2007? David Wells? GM Harrelson? David Wells was at least a one year disaster. If he's referring to the contracts of Rios and Peavy, those are going to hurt the Sox a lot more than Wells.
  13. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 12, 2010 -> 11:46 PM) I think Peavy let that last call to Overbay affect him there. Stop making excuses for him like people made for Javy. These guys are getting paid a ton of money, and simply aren't performing so far.
  14. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Apr 12, 2010 -> 11:46 PM) The summer of 2009 is going to be the worst thing that ever happened to the white sox. Extremely unimpressed by Peavy's stuff so far this year. A guy like Buck should never touch his slider!
  15. QUOTE (NIUSox @ Apr 13, 2010 -> 12:36 AM) LOL so do I Congrats, you have a platoon player on your fantasy team. Do you also have Mike Redmond as your catcher?
  16. QUOTE (Real @ Apr 13, 2010 -> 12:30 AM) why the f*** is peavy's fastball sitting at 89mph, it wasn't very good in his first start either should we be concerned? It's not like he's a high 90s guy anyways. The last two years, he was at 93-94 when he was feeling good it seems.
  17. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Apr 13, 2010 -> 12:24 AM) Good start. 10 pitches that inning!
  18. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Apr 13, 2010 -> 12:22 AM) I'm honestly starting to think he can't hit the ball out of the infield. Well, he'll have 700 at bats to prove he can.
  19. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Apr 12, 2010 -> 11:22 PM) He hit the ball hard a couple times against the Indians. Since then he's looked terrible. Just like last year. It's amazing how low the expectations for him are.
