  1. QUOTE (beckham15 @ Jul 5, 2009 -> 09:57 PM) bloomquist has played well against us this season...it'd be nice to see the sox make a deal for him before the trade deadline and would make our bench that more versatile We have absolutely no need for a hitter to face LHP.
  2. Someone forgot to tell our hitters that Soria throws a curve.
  3. At least Quentin's in the lineup again today for Charlotte, which means yesterday was a success.
  4. If we do face 3 lefties vs Cleveland, we better see Nix at 2nd every game, Castro behind the plate possibly twice, and Fields at DH for Thome a few games.
  5. Our SS looks like he's running through quick sand on any play to his right.
  6. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 5, 2009 -> 08:47 PM) Fathom, I thought you said the other day you weren't sure where exactly KW would be looking to upgrade? I'm pretty sure that 5th spot is it. problem right now is that a 5th starter would likely cost you a package worthy of a 2nd starter.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 5, 2009 -> 08:47 PM) I would bet you we heard the exact same stuff about Danks in 2007. But Danks throws a lot more over the top and has the cutter and potentially great change-up. I do love Richard's chances against lefties though, as he has good command of his slider against them.
  8. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 5, 2009 -> 09:39 PM) Great arm? He throws 91-93 with a medicore change-up and an average slider. His ceiling is about 4 stories lower then Danks, if you get my drift. Yeah, he definitely doesn't have the potential that Danks does. A big issue with Richard is that his arm slot is going to make it extremely difficult for him to consistently get righties out.
  9. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 5, 2009 -> 09:37 PM) We should sweep the Tribe. They are throwing Sowers, Laffey, and Huff, while we're throwing Buehrle, Contreras, and Richard/Carrasco. In Minnesota, we'll throw Danks, Floyd, and Buehrle, which means we should atleast win 2. Key word- SHOULD We're getting Liriano, Blackburn, and Baker
  10. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jul 5, 2009 -> 08:34 PM) 5-2 road trip, not bad and we don't lose any ground... That's a terrible mindset to have. The Tigers had 3 games on the road in Minnesota, and we were playing great baseball heading into KC against a struggling team.
  11. Wow, Alexei absolutely jogged to first on that booted grounder. It's things like that which get him in the doghouse with Ozzie. Looks like we see Poreda for one inning....yuck
  12. For those not watching, Hawk basically flat out blamed Alexei for today and yesterday's loss by changing the momentum of the series. Also, very disappointing to see this team go down without a fight for the second straight game. I really don't want to have to watch Fields and Castro face RHP again.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 5, 2009 -> 08:12 PM) Am I the only one who paid any attention at all to how we went about developing Danks and Floyd in 2007? A lot harder to do though when you're actually competing. KW and Ozzie have to make a decision soon, as Richard just isn't giving us what we need as a starter and might be more valuable in the bullpen (especially with Thornton's recent struggles).
  14. Getz seems to bunt the ball right back to the pitcher an awful lot.
  15. QUOTE (scenario @ Jul 5, 2009 -> 09:08 PM) I'm guessing they're holding back Poreda for the Cleveland series.... because the Sox prefer to load up as many lefties against them as possible. We have tomorrow off...I think Ozzie's just tying to get Carrasco a few innings. Poreda will likely pitch in the 7th or 8th. However, this is another example of why Gobble is an absolute waste of space on this roster.
  16. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 5, 2009 -> 09:03 PM) The middle ground is where we are going to end up in my opinion. We won't trade away anybody at the deadline, and we won't make the playoffs either. It's a very painful and very real possibility. Yep, that would definitely be worst case scenario. With less than 10 teams looking to sell, we could get some good offers for Dotel/Contreras/Dye.
  17. QUOTE (TheHolyBovine @ Jul 5, 2009 -> 08:55 PM) Don't know if you watched the game today, but Richard: a) was touching 97, with velocity consistently between 92-94 B) had a great change-up c) was very unlucky. the royals only had two balls hit hard against him In terms of stuff, he has a better arm than MB or JD, and he's a lefty to boot. You have to give him a chance to get his stuff together. He's very close to breaking through. Simply put, you can't keep throwing someone out there who struggles to get you past the 5th inning.
  18. Shut up Hawk. Bannister's had an absolutely tiny strike zone all day.
  19. 6-2 now after the hanger. What a disappointing weekend.
  20. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 5, 2009 -> 08:52 PM) Everytime it looks like we are finally finding our stride and breaking out, we revert back to our old sucky selves. I'm still extremely pissed that we rested AJP and Thome yesterday. Seems like Ozzie took his foot off the pedal.
  21. I don't think he's going to be in the rotation for very long.
  22. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 5, 2009 -> 08:44 PM) What I'm asking if he maxed himself out so quickly, is that something that will improve in time as he learns to pitch in the bigs? It's not likely he's going to be a 95 mph fastball starting pitcher in the majors. KW absolutely has my blessings to use Richard in a trade package.
  23. We have like 5 rocket outs today, and KC has so many cheap hits. Very deflating.
