  1. Directv is stating that it's a rain delay. That opening they showed is taped.
  2. He's a mental midget. I don't think he ever fully recovered from not making the team in 2008.
  3. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 12:54 AM) he was probably shading the runner Possible, but I would hope not (with a righty at the plate, that has to be the 2nd baseman).
  4. QUOTE (stretchstretch @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 12:54 AM) exactly, watch a week of Angels baseball, and you'll see the full tool kit: power, speed at almost every position, perfectly executed bunting, situational hitting, stealing, opposite field shots, a 17M center fielder performing miracles with the glove, a 5'7" Figgins snagging everything that comes his way and firing across the diamond with the best of 'em, not to mention a continuous flow of new names and faces from the farm system that bring immediate impact most of the time, a manager who usually makes decisions that you'll agree with, and a GM that actually lands people like Hunter/Texeira..... No offense, but I disagree with so much of this post. Hunter is terrible in CF now besides the fancy home run robbing plays. Not to mention they're wasting 11 million on Gary Mathews Jr. Could you imagine the Sox having an outfielder who makes that much that they can't even play? Vlad looks like he's just about done being a slugger also. Those prospects you talked about have yet to make a big difference in the majors, and most would say their vaunted position player prospects over the last 5 years have been a huge bust. We play at the Cell...if you can't hit the long ball, you're not going to win.
  5. So I just saw the replay of Inge's game winning single. Why is Alexei playing so far up the middle for a righty hitter getting an inside fastball?

    Sigh

Oh STFU Josh. Beckham would have never been promoted if you didn't suck so bad. I know these comments were likely made before today's first game, but this won't make him look very well in the media after his performance today.
  7. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 10:47 PM) Nix is an outstanding defensive second baseman. Neither can hit much, but Nix has a little more pop. Everyone knows 2B belongs to Beckham anyway, so until they trade for someone to play third (which I hope is soon) I would play the better defender with a little more pop. If Getz or Nix aren't included in any trades, both make decent bench players although again Nix ghas an edge because of his versatilty over Getz. It's not like Getz is terrible defensively. I'd rather see what Getz can do and use the rest of the year as a trial run for him. If Nix is a key part of your team in 2010, then we're in trouble again. He's fine as the 2nd back-up infielder.
  8. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 10:10 PM) I'd rather have Nix at 2B over Getz every game -- until they get a quality third baseman and move Beckham to his future home at 2B. Why not give Getz a chance to see what he can do? Besides for Brian Anderson, no one has received more love for accomplishing less than Nix this season.
  9. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 10:08 PM) okay, so lets say some of you guys get your wish and Ozzie Guillen gets fired. Who manages? We need an outside viewpoint.
  10. This team is so stressed, hopefully he'll pass the bong and get them relaxed.

QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 10:33 PM) If we get swept, we're pretty much out of it, IMO. This team isn't built to come from behind. So what you're saying is we have to add Pierre Pierce to our lineup?

    Sigh

QUOTE (watchtower41 @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 10:35 PM) You are thinking this team can compete with the Brewers and Dodgers right now? Nevermind the Cubs, which I am sure we will manage to wake up as well. The Cubs pitching will just destroy our hitters, especially with no Thome at Wrigley.
  13. Wow, get out of town Ozzie. I hope he gets pissed after the game and calls someone a bad name and gets canned.

QUOTE (TitoMB345 @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 10:02 PM) Obviously not, but they need to let the front office know they wont stand for this s***. But..but..but...we tried to trade for Jake Peavy. The front office won't care about the booing, but they deserve so much of the blame for this below average roster. KW neglected the 2009 Sox this offseason, so let's just hope he doesn't try to add anything to salvage a sinking ship.

    Sigh

QUOTE (TitoMB345 @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 10:01 PM) The fact that Wise is STILL here proves there is something seriously wrong with this organization. Little late to fix it. Wise being on the roster/starting after a third of the season is one of the worst blunders of Kenny's era. Tito...I usually like you, but I would likely to politely tell you to just take a step back and relax. Wise is on the roster right now cause we have no one else to call up. You do realize it would be Lillibridge most likely? Hopefully CQ comes up on Wednesday, and you will see Wise DFA'd.
  16. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 10:01 PM) I usually shy away from this argument, but it's obvious that was a pure salary dump and probably to make Ozzie happy since he didn't like him or whatever b.s. excuse he has. Ozzie put BA behind the 8-ball, drove Swisher out of here, is it too crazy to fear he might sink one of the good prospects like Beckham or Jor Danks if he doesn't like him? KW better stick up for Beckham, because the way Ozzie has been handling him in the press is pathetic so far.

    Sigh

QUOTE (TitoMB345 @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 09:58 PM) Wise, Fields, and Anderson all should be gone by tomorrow, but will probably be here til next year. If Wise isn't gone come Wednesday, then something is seriously wrong with this organization.
  18. Oh, and wouldn't Swisher have looked good in CF this year?
  19. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 08:49 PM) Well at least the game 2 thread will have one less pessimist as I'll be at the game tonight. It likely won't be a pretty sight. I sense a ton of booing at the park if Contreras tanks.
  20. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 09:45 PM) Ozzie Guillen is proving to be a brutal in game manager. Why are defensive replacements never an option? Wise and Fields suck there is no reason why Anderson and Nix are not in there for defensive reasons. They each should have hit in the 8th as they can hit fastballs they can not hit breaking pithces. He picked a bad game to have by far his worst managerial game of the season. I swear he thought the 8th was the 7th, and the 9th was the 8th. Maybe he'll threaten to quit soon?
  21. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 09:44 PM) Meh. Of all things to complain about this doesn't make the top 10 list. The lower part of their order was coming up and Jenks sucks in non-save situations. 3/4/5 for Tigers was up. There is no one in baseball pitching better than Thornton, and we're saving him for what? The Tigers only have one lefty anyways.
  22. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 08:40 PM) Uh you do realize we gave them extra outs this inning? Doesn't matter, if we lose in the 9th, it should be with our 2 best (and I think we all agree that those 2 are Thornton and Jenks). Knowing Ozzie, he'll say we were sving them for the second game.
  23. Just remember, if we even had a manager that had a clue, Fields wouldn't have been in the game to get their rally started.
  24. I can't believe we didn't pitch Thornton or Jenks this inning. The biggest game of our season to this point, and we went with our 4th best reliever (I don't care what stats say, Linebrink has not looked overly sharp this year).
