  1. I'm beginning to think Sox should take a pitcher with first pick and then an outfielder with 2nd pick. Seems like someone like Williams or Fuentes could drop to the 38th pick.
  2. Interesting, that likely moves another top player down to our pick to take.
  3. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 11:59 PM) After picking Weeks and trading for Cardenas last year? Some of us know what we're talking about
  4. Cleveland would LOVE the chance to take Alex White.
  5. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 10:56 PM) In terms of what? Gibson doesn't have high demands or anything. He's a college pitcher with a good arm. Fits right into our style. Scheppers demands haven't been ridiculous, most everyone has speculated similar to Crow's price range. Plus whoever drafts him has leverage. The injuries are a question though. I can't see the Sox giving 1st round money to these guys with HUGE injury concerns.
  6. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 10:53 PM) If we took em, Crow/Scheppers would be stellar. Might be a prep arm that would be awesome too. I can't see the Sox taking Scheppers or Gibson. Goes against our style.
  7. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 10:51 PM) Rockies selected Tyler Matzek. The regime has clearly changed, in the past, they never would have taken a high money gamble like Matzek Yep, good for them
  8. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 11:45 PM) Turner is the top prep RHP in the country. Tigers got great value here but will have to pay a lot. The more MLB ready guys like Crow/Scheppers get past them though. The more of those guys fall, the more likely a team like the Cards takes one of them (or one of the top preps) giving the sox a shot at Brothers. Rockies want Brothers, I believe.
  9. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 11:42 PM) Glad they took Turner. He could be good, but I don't think he is going to be great. Played against weak competition -- very weak. Yep, I'm happy they took him over Crow or White.
  10. QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 11:37 PM) I'm very happy he's not there for us to pick. He would have been a great pick at 23. I like him more than Brothers.
  11. Terrible pick for the Reds...if you want to spend money in this draft, you can get some great talent.
  12. I'm loving the players at the team's desk. Eric Davis, Devon White, Shawon Dunston so far.
  13. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 10:19 PM) I really hope the Sox realize the talent Crow is and take him if he slips that far. Mid-high 90s fastball with great control and blew away the Cape Cod league. I don't understand why 4 million is too much for him. Couldn't agree more. Money for young guys shouldn't be a factor, as you're talking about 3 years of extremely cheap contracts for them before arbitration.
  14. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 09:17 PM) If he's there yes. You have a source on that? He throws mid 90's with a big yacker. I talked about him in one of the other threads. Gathered from BA mock draft as well as BA source
  15. Also, Mitchell to the Blue Jays is picking up steam. One of their scouting directors helped recruit him to LSU.
  16. Sox are all over Oklahoma RHP Garrett Richards for the 38th pick. I'm pretty sure he's got a big time heater.
  17. Anyone else hear that KW stormed out (as in being extremely pissed off) of the Sox clubhouse yesterday, and it was after a meeting with Ozzie? That's what Comcast supposedly reported. Things are definitely in motion.
  18. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 04:25 PM) I haven't tracked the Cubs lately, but weren't they having a hard time finding playing time for Reed Johnson at one point? If that is still true, he'd be a nice pick-up, but it would take more than Dotel to get him. Wait, what? More than Dotel to get a back-up outfielder? Dotel's one of the best relievers that will be available, and if we start unloading guys to get utility veterans, then KW needs to leave.
  19. When's the last time we had a Jewish player on our roster?
  20. My belief is Sox will draft J. Mitchell out of LSU. Most of soxtalk will be upset, claiming that he strikes out too much. Then, Hawk and KW will talk about it and the comparison to Carl Crawford will come out. Soxtalk will then slowly shift to liking the pick.
  21. We're missing the biggest issue here: how will Josh Fields feel about this?
