  1. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 6, 2009 -> 08:36 PM) This is frustrating. If I root for Fields to do well, it's like I am rooting against Beckham. But if I root against Fields, it's like I am rooting against the Sox. There's going to be an opening at 2nd base. Getz's OPS is on its way to below .600
  2. Getz just shouldn't be playing today. I can't believe he wasn't benched after yesterday.
  3. Ugh, Francisco with a great leaping catch on a deep fly by Nix. Nix hit it 395 feet.
  4. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 6, 2009 -> 09:32 PM) I hear AR made areal good defensive play Yep, nice play to get Hafner at home on a dribbler past Floyd. 1-1 going into bottom of 2nd.
  5. What do you know, Gavin can't pitch over a bad defensive play.
  6. Why would you ever throw him a fastball after how bad he looks on offspeed pitches? Keep up the awful work AJP
  7. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 6, 2009 -> 08:26 PM) Don't question Doug. Seriously..that should be a bannable offense.
  8. I had no idea 6 of the 9 shutouts were at home, and in only 27 games. AJP showing why he has no business starting today.
  9. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 6, 2009 -> 09:14 PM) Now is this because of the ownership, or is KW just cheap? Just want to play it close to slot and take some signable guys.
  10. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 6, 2009 -> 09:12 PM) We blew the leadoff double yesterday... And Thursday...and Monday
  11. McCarver wrong on his first observation of the game. Nice, quick top of the 1st.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 6, 2009 -> 09:04 PM) Totally disagree. Anderson has had more than a few stretches where he's had his swing in a good place. He then winds up benched for 2 weeks. Fields has, to my eyes, shown marked improvement over the last couple weeks. Ditto Getz, for that matter. Anderson's been in the majors for parts of 5 seasons. His swing is still well below average. Both Anderson and Fields have huge power, and we're just not seeing it. 3 homers combined this year in about 75 games.
  13. QUOTE (Reddy @ Jun 6, 2009 -> 08:55 PM) honestly, i think it would have been interesting to see Anderson come up with any other manager besides guillen. someone who showed a little confidence in him and didn't f*** around with his at bats all the time. i just hope to god he doesn't ruin Beckham like this. I'd be more interested in seeing Fields and Anderson come up with a different hitting coach, as obviously this particular hitting coach has not been able to get through to them.
  14. QUOTE (Reddy @ Jun 6, 2009 -> 07:46 PM) our division being terrible does NOT make Ozzie a good manager. I am livid right now. I want Ozzie gone, want Walker gone, I want the whole goddamned team blown up. It will be interesting if we struggle for the next few weeks and have to go into selling mode. We have so many youngsters on the way, and Ozzie is not the manager you want in a rebuilding situation.
  15. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jun 6, 2009 -> 08:11 PM) couldn't agree more. and now that i think of it, if i was a fan paying to come out and watch this terrible play, the least I would want is to see Beckham play. Not that anyone cares, but I know at least 10 people who bought tickets for this game on Thursday so they could see Beckham play.
  16. Mark Reynolds homering off of Carlos Marmol in Game 1 of the 2007 NLDS was one of the most shocking plays I've ever seen.
  17. I'd be fine with the Trout pick except for the Rowand comparisons we'll have to hear. I don't have near the sources I used to, but one of my remaining sources tell me they don't expect the Sox to spend much on their top picks.
  18. QUOTE (chisox2334 @ Jun 6, 2009 -> 07:02 PM) If you want to feel better turn on mlb network their showing game 5 of alcs in 2005 Watching it now...the last 3 innings of this game are great. Konerko's AB coming up against KRod in the 9th is fantastic.
  19. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 6, 2009 -> 07:52 PM) He was giving the number for the position equivalent. And: "I just want to get Fields in there," manager Ozzie Guillen said. "I have to make the lineup the best I can every day to make the kids play. I've got a couple of guys who have to play also." Great. It's pretty obvious that Ozzie didn't want to call Beckham up.
  20. Link contains Ozzie's "excuses" for not playing Beckham. What a load of crap. http://blogs.chicagosports.chicagotribune....p-saturday.html
  21. Gotta love 4 lefty hitters against a pitcher who holds lefties to a .180 batting average and righties hit well over .300.
  22. It took 3 months, but I'm back to hating Ozzie. If he can't handle playing rookies, then he needs to leave this organization, as there's a handful more to come in the next few years.
  23. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 6, 2009 -> 05:48 AM) Greg Walker has needed to be fired since August of 2006. He's an absolute joke of a hitting coach, but it's clear that he could kill 3 people tomorrow and his job will still be safe, so that's a waste of breath. Although really, if you aren't going to fire your hitting coach when you're on pace to be shut out 27 times, you'll NEVER fire him. In fact, if you aren't going to fire him now, what's the point of even having a hitting coach? The only defense of Greg Walker right now is "these guys are professionals", which is a dumb argument anyway. If that's the case, there should be no hitting coaches, period. However, with that all said, there is somebody who needs to be fired before Greg Walker and that's our advanced scouts. It's clear they do an absolutely awful job, and if they got canned tomorrow it would be a good thing. Great post
