  1. Wow, special defensive game by Mike Fontenot
  2. I said this in chat about Getz: - If you want an explosive offense, he's your utility player - If you want an average offense, he's your #9 hitter - If you want a bad offense, he's a #1/2 hitter
  3. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 7, 2009 -> 02:26 AM) I didn't realize his sample size was so small though. 60-something sporadic PAs this year, before that, 65 PAs last year. He's been up and down in the minors, especially at Tulsa for some reason, but he's never been given that much of a shot in the majors either. True, and he does make decent contact. He just has to stop being so damn pull-happy.
  4. So Nick Masset...yeah, he looks fantastic. 95 mph fastball, 89 mph splitter, big curve
  5. This is nuts..Jayson Nix is batting .203 this season. He's not good, but people are acting like we discovered this amazing player.
  6. Do managers even think about what bunting will do to their next hitter up? Dusty bunted in the bottom of the 10th with Brandon Phillips on deck. The bunt was successful, so the Cubs walk the Reds only decent hitter and got a great match-up of Marshall against Nix (who bats about .100 against LHP). The NL is so awful.
  7. I doubt Anderson plays tomorrow. Probably be Wise in CF.
  8. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jun 6, 2009 -> 10:44 PM) I ran on to mlb.com for gameday to see Jenks' last pitch. It said it crossed the plate and it wasn't all that close. AJP caught it awkwardly, which made it look worse.
  9. Can we have a Doug Eddings bobblehead doll day? I think that or a statue with him holding his fist incorrectly on the AJP dropped 3rd.
  10. QUOTE (Jbabs34 @ Jun 6, 2009 -> 11:39 PM) haha ok seriously, how much is reinsdorf paying eddings? Clearly our best FA signing since Jermaine.
  11. The sad thing is that probably crossed for a strike. Doug must have some special dinner plans tonight.
  12. After seeing Thornton, Jenks looks like Buehrle out there.
  13. Great DP!! Thom with a great point, and something I wanted to post in the 7th (but was afraid of the jinx). Why pr for Garko when he's not even the tying run?
  14. And the tying run to the plate. Where's the 1-2 curve by Jenks there?
  15. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 6, 2009 -> 10:33 PM) BTW, Ichiro is so so so good, but what the hell happened to his speed on the base paths? What happened? He's not the fastest players in the majors...it's just he gets out of the batter's box so well.
  16. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 6, 2009 -> 10:31 PM) Seattle goes up 2-1 on a Junior 2-out double. Excellent, and Morrow's already been in so he can't blow the game against the Twins.
  17. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jun 6, 2009 -> 10:26 PM) Those one out spots don't always happen in the 9th and Thornton has come in for most of them. I think this actually plays to each pitcher's strengths better. Thornton has come in for the tight spots in the 6th, 7th or 8th. That might have more value than pitching the 9th with the lead. Yep...it's the Marmol factor.
  18. QUOTE (daa84 @ Jun 6, 2009 -> 10:22 PM) im fine with jenks as the closer....but i personally think Thornton is the better pitcher That's why you and I are leading the charge for a Jenks trade.
  19. One of the most impressive innings of relief this year. They had no chance against him.
  20. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 6, 2009 -> 10:19 PM) Bad in April, but strong since. Figured that way. He was having real good ABs for a few weeks lately. Hopefully he gets on track for the Detroit series, as we'll need it against those tough righties.
  21. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jun 6, 2009 -> 11:16 PM) thome is schizo these days. can't help but feel like it's nagging injuries popping up What's his rate walk this year? Seems less than usual.
  22. 2 of the first 3 batters for Indians are lefties....KEEP THORNTON IN.
