  1. It's sad we think Nix has had good ABs and his batting average is .222.
  2. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 18, 2009 -> 07:24 PM) I think you would want to keep Thornton around and probably Linebrink if Jenks is sent packing. Dotel is gone after this season. You can't have a horrible bullpen for the next several years and expect anything but tumbleweeds at USCF. Yep, you can't trade Thornton. You'd want to give him a shot as closer first.
  3. QUOTE (hogan873 @ May 18, 2009 -> 07:23 PM) Well, I hope that this season is now seen as a rebuilding season. We can argue that it's early only so long. And with the team we have, I'm not holding out hope for a surge like last year. If we know it's a rebuilding season and we start seeing some of these exciting players from the minors, the season can hold some interest. We've been one of the worst teams in baseball for 2 of the last 3 years now. It's time to blow the core of the team up, and be grateful for the breaks of 2008.
  4. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ May 18, 2009 -> 07:18 PM) I'd hate to trade Big Bobby, but he has great value and we could get a nice haul for him (at least you'd think). Why not trade Jenks? He's going to be getting 10 mil plus per year soon, and there's no reason to have a lockdown closer when your team is rebuilding. The biggest thing about rebuilding is you can't be afraid to lose.
  5. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 18, 2009 -> 06:14 PM) I don't know why anyone would give up decent prospects for half a season of what the White Sox could give them. KW trying to go against the grain, screwed himself this past offseason. Dye could get you something (especially if Reds are involved). Jenks is the one he should really look to move.
  6. Getz has an OPS near .425 for May. It's scary how many players we have that legitimately should be sent down if they struggle for another week.
  7. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ May 18, 2009 -> 06:12 PM) What are the most runs scored in an inning by the White Sox where there has not been a home run hit? 2? Something going unnoticed this year is how down our power numbers are. Maybe that's why you're better off just loading up with a homer hitting team instead of trying to add speed players.
  8. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 18, 2009 -> 06:11 PM) I don't think they are going to be able to unload much. Not many teams are willing to take on money. I could see KW paying to get prospects.
  9. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 18, 2009 -> 07:06 PM) 1976,1978,1979,1984,1986,1987,1988,1989,1995,2007 I think are worse. This team is likely to finish with a worse record than 2007 if we start unloading people.
  10. Nice to see our stubborness to put Alexei in CF continues to hurt us. I can't believe Greg Walker will still have a job come tomorrow. Some person has to take the fall for this debacle of a start.
  11. Thankfully no Lillicurse. Still, someone explain to me why Betemit is even on the roster anymore?
  12. Only in the National League: Jason Smith is 0-25 this year, and still is on a team.
  13. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ May 17, 2009 -> 07:36 PM) Its times like these I wish Nick Swisher was around to do a CRAzzZY dugout dance to lighten up everyone and change the mood within the team. That'd switch around their fortunes. Could you imagine letting our pitchers be responsible for protecting the blow-up dolls in the locker room? They'd be stolen without the pitchers even trying to prevent the theft from happening.
  14. QUOTE (BearSox @ May 17, 2009 -> 07:33 PM) I remember when we thought the 12 million a year for him was a steal. Considering we will be getting rid of a lot of big contracts in the offseason and not spend a lot, we could afford to overpay him one more season. Also, like you said, trading Konerko would likely require giving up some doe to get maximum value for him, and you should know that KW never includes money in a trade, unless that money is coming to us. What's the point of having Konerko on the roster if we're going to rebuild? You can't be afraid to lose if you're going to try and rebuild for a few seasons.
  15. It's definitely time to get Nix 5 starts a week and see what he can do. Another non-competitive game for the White Sox.
  16. QUOTE (BearSox @ May 17, 2009 -> 07:28 PM) I disagree. I think all teams need veteran leadership, and if we decide to trade away all of Dye, Konerko, etc. and just go into next year with basically our double A lineup, you're setting yourself up for a huge disaster. I think you gotta choose between Dye and Konerko and which one of the two you would rather keep for the next couple of years while the young guys develop. And I think the easy choice would be Konerko. He's the "captain", doesn't make excuses for anyone, and is just an overall solid player. The easy choice would be to DH Dye, but I don't know if he'll return if he thinks we're rebuilding. It's more likely he signs with Texas to DH for them.

And I think the easy choice would be Konerko. He's the "captain", doesn't make excuses for anyone, and is just an overall solid player. He's also making more money than he's worth. Screw the leadership stuff....that should start with Ozzie. Part of the problem might be that the veterans aren't exactly vocal leaders.
  18. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 17, 2009 -> 07:26 PM) I can't agree my friend. I know what you are saying, but I think there are other moves that can be made without losing our best The first player I'd trade is Dye, as he would probably get you more than Konerko. With Konerko, we'd have to pay some of his salary.
  19. Nix has done nothing but have solid ABs all year. Ozzie keeps saying that's what he wants to see at the plate, but then he doesn't start Nix for a few games and keeps playing others who are having terrible ABs.
  20. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 17, 2009 -> 07:24 PM) Trade the player who doesn't make excuses. We can't afford to lose a guy like Konerko. We have talent and PK is right-those guys need to look at themselves and do what needs to be done to correct it Yes, we can afford to lose a guy like Konerko. You trade players you can actually get some value for.
  21. I'm sure KW and JR love the camera man focusing on Sox fans leaving a game in the 8th inning.
  22. Alexei's nightmare season continues. Maybe we'll bench him another 2 games and really send a message...not!
  23. QUOTE (Baines3 @ May 17, 2009 -> 07:10 PM) I know it's only May but there has to be some changes on this team. I'd start with getting rid of Greg Walker. Agreed...something isn't working. I think the change should come with a new manager that pays attention to more of the little things, but that's not going to happen.
  24. Gotta love the match-up today of Harden vs Moehler. Harden has some of the best stuff in baseball, while Moehler might have the worst. Isn't it time for Harden or Soriano to go on the DL?
