  1. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 17, 2009 -> 07:07 PM) Will attendance take a hit this year or have the Sox sold so many season tix they'll be fine attendance wise? Walk-up tickets will be awful. Again, KW will have no one to blame but himself if he doesn't have more than 50 cents to spend next year.
  2. QUOTE (BearSox @ May 17, 2009 -> 07:05 PM) Any chance we see Flowers up here as a platoon catcher with A.J. come August or next year? Doubtful...he's really struggling right now in AA after a good start.
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 17, 2009 -> 07:02 PM) Last year was a good, successful year. How can anybody argue that? I can see what they were trying to do this year, mix high paid vets with low paid young talent. The young talent can't hit and in the case of Floyd, pitch, while the vets haven't been miserable but are not producing a lot of runs. Good post
  4. KW really should be on the phone with the Giants and Mets trying to get rid of Konerko. The Giants 1B situation is terrible, and Delgado's out for a long time.
  5. QUOTE (Frankensteiner @ May 17, 2009 -> 06:56 PM) So you're basically saying a fluke year = successful year. Yes...it was successful. You play the season to make the playoffs, and you go from there. Thus, it was successful...END OF STORY!
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 17, 2009 -> 06:55 PM) So suddenly Gavin Floyd stinks and we have two good starters. Our third best is Bartolo Colon. Many of you knew Gavin was a fluke. Our scouts and baseball people thought he was good enough to reward monetarily. Lexi is hitting .212, Fields .231, Miller .214 and Lilly .164. Quentin is hurt and may keep getting hurt because opposing pitchers plunk him constantly. Getz is down to .240. We can't come close to beating a real team like Toronto. It's gonna be a long summer. We suck...you don't even have to break it down.
  7. QUOTE (BearSox @ May 17, 2009 -> 06:53 PM) Where can I find Kalapse's handy contract info sheet? Begging that everyone's in the last year of their deal?
  8. yeah...Corky Miller has no chance against Halladay. This team is just embarrassing.
  9. Someone in the Sox organization told Hawk to change the focus from the game to the future. Nice inning for Gobble
  10. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 17, 2009 -> 07:46 PM) i wish joey would've made gavin wear this one and stay out there and spare the pen. Gobble's on the mound...who cares. Richard and Carrasco will be going tomorrow.
  11. Floyd's now given up 6 runs or more in half of his starts.
  12. Can we have some other person in the organization make the trades when we unload our veterans? KW has a pretty terrible history of trading veterans for prospects.
  13. Hell of a play by Rolen. That would have been a big hit for Fields. Hawk is absolutely going off on this team's execution.
  14. QUOTE (Frankensteiner @ May 17, 2009 -> 07:39 PM) I remember people were calling last year a success (although I wasn't one to think this) because we had found a young core of Quentin, Alexei, Danks, & Floyd. In hindsight, would people say that today? Yes, last year was a success. We took a team that had no business competing and beat our rivals for the AL Central crown. Last year has nothing to do with this year, which is shaping up to be a disaster in virtually every aspect. Not only are we losing, but our core group of players for the future are struggling to prove they can be counted on.
  15. Alexei just did a hell of a job moving the runner to 3rd there. Good job Alexei.
  16. QUOTE (Capn12 @ May 17, 2009 -> 07:35 PM) Enjoy watching this train wreck of a team this year gents. I went and did something I've not done since it ever became available: cancelled MLB.tv subscription. It is that painful to me, watching this team play. It sucks that it's been so non-enjoyable this year. Probably have the boringest team of any in baseball this year. At least the Padres get to see Adrian Gonzalez and the Nationals had Zimmerman's hit streak and Dunn's power.
  17. Gotta love Tigers being down 6-0 to start the game, and 9 outs later, they're up 8-6. Are we going to keep hearing "but we're only X games out of it"?
  18. QUOTE (chw42 @ May 17, 2009 -> 07:32 PM) Why is Gavin Floyd so bad? Absolutely no command of his fastball. He struggles to throw it for a strike, and when he does, he is wild in the zone. Not only that, but his inability to throw a curve ball prior to have 2 strikes has really hurt him.
  19. QUOTE (whitesoxmanager @ May 17, 2009 -> 07:31 PM) infield play today is not good. There's a reason we've only turned 20 or so double plays all year.
  20. QUOTE (Brian @ May 17, 2009 -> 07:29 PM) Guess we won't be giving extension to pitchers after 1 good year. Last year was such a fluke for Gavin. This game has been extremely disturbing, as it's not Floyd's control that is doing him in (with regards to walks). The league seems to have figured him out (as they did towards the end of last year).
  21. Hawk is now flipping out about our inability to hold on runners. After a while, someone needs to be held responsible.
  22. I really thought Bryce Harper was a 2010 prospect, but now I'm not sure. The Sox have had great relays and overall defense by our outfielders this series.
  23. Some more wonderful execution by the offense. Hawk's about as depressed as I've ever heard him.
  24. QUOTE (BearSox @ May 17, 2009 -> 06:15 PM) That's no good unless we are the worst team in baseball in the 2010 season. He's only a sophomore right now. You sure? I thought he's a junior.
  25. Getz has no power...and Hawk is still upset. Getz reminds me of Ryan Sweeney, as he'd be so much better if he was on steroids or used an aluminum bat.
