  1. Posted this in other thread, but CQ isn't going to be back on Wednesday. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/chi-0...0,5772928.story
  2. Sounds like we won't see him for a long time. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/chi-0...0,5772928.story
  3. QUOTE (G&T @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 03:31 AM) Turns out that Fields has a babip of .333 this season. So not only has be been bad, but he has actually been very lucky when he makes contact. So he's actually has the ability to be worse. Of course he's been lucky...he has the flare over the 2nd baseman's head down to a science. He's hit about 5 balls very hard all season.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 02:29 AM) Dayan is such a good prospect. Would you rather he hit .300 with 10 homers this year or .270 with 20 homers?
  5. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 03:27 AM) On tigertalk.com they are b****ing about the Tigers offense calling for the head of their hitting coach and referring to Jose as Cy Contreras. That was a very heartless performance by the Tigers. I also bet their fans are fuming about Ordonez and Cabrera cracking up in the dugout after Bonderman was pulled and sitting next to them.
  6. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 03:25 AM) But then what happens if Gordon really struggles and has to go back down to the minors? You play him regardless. Let's face it...if we can't count on Beckham in the next 3-5 years, then this entire rebuilding of the farm system is destined to fail.
  7. Impressed by the crowd of 30k tonight. That's not a turning point win, but it could definitely be classified as a season salvaging win.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 03:22 AM) ah? WTH would Kenny be looking to trade Quentin? Sorry, I meant Wise/BA/Fields. I think Wise gets DFA'd on Wednesday, and Fields is probably on the trade block.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 02:19 AM) Ugh. He hasn't given Ozzie any reason to play him over Wise with the bat lately. He could try doing us all a favor and getting some damned hits! The way it is going, Wise could stick around when TCQ comes back and Fields could go to Charlotte. It wouldn't surprise me at all if KW was looking to get rid of all 3 of those guys.
  10. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 02:18 AM) Colon needs to just come out of the bullpen, he won't be successful in the rotation with one f***ing pitch and a mediocre pitch at that And his next two starts would be against Milwaukee and the Cubs...two excellent fastball hitting teams.
  11. QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 02:18 AM) who gets the next knock first? BA or Beckham? or Castro?
  12. I'm happy BA got thrown out...I don't want him rewarded for a terrible AB.
  13. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 03:15 AM) I know it's early, but Gordo doesn't have the bat speed I thought he would. Just saying, I am not doubt his ability or anything, but I thought it would be better than what we have seen. He hasn't really tried to pull anything yet. He's not swinging and missing, which is very promising.
  14. Not a terrible swing by Beckham there. Hopefully he plays 3b tomorrow and Fields will DH.
  15. Ozzie should let Jose go out to the mound for the 9th, and then pull him.
  16. Wow, so we're going to use Thornton in this game?
  17. Castro's a FA after this year.
  18. I'm thinking Fields will get traded to the Reds for Jared Burton or to the Giants for some minor league arm.
  19. It's not just that Fields is putting up bad numbers. It's the fact that he can't hit a fastball over 90 mph. Our own announcer says on a weekly basis that if you can't hit a fastball, you can't play in the majors. The best thing to do right now is demote Fields and tell him to go to AAA and hit mediocre fastballs.
  20. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 03:00 AM) He had zero of his feel pitches, his timing was terrible and he had no control. Symptoms of a player who came back too soon from an injury. Agreed, and that's why a lot of us (including you, I believe) were asking for them to DL him so he could rehab in the minors. Luckily, Jose was classy enough to accept the demotion and able to get even more starts in the minors.
  21. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 01:57 AM) Jose's just a headcase. He had all the stuff he's showing tonight from day one. It's just been the control and pitch selection that's screwed him over in his previous 5 starts. Jose had no forkball before he got demoted. Thus, he was basically a one pitch pitcher to lefties and they were destroying him. It also looks like he's gained a mph on his fastball, which can't hurt.
  22. Alexei destroying the ball in this game. It seems that with Pods not on base, he's swinging a little bit harder. Alexei needs to know it's not a crime to hit a ball hard to left field with Pods on base.
  23. QUOTE (ChiSox420* @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 02:34 AM) Really? Sarcasm
  24. So, is Beckham like Anderson and Nix where they're only in the majors for their defense?
