  1. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 10:01 PM) I usually shy away from this argument, but it's obvious that was a pure salary dump and probably to make Ozzie happy since he didn't like him or whatever b.s. excuse he has. Ozzie put BA behind the 8-ball, drove Swisher out of here, is it too crazy to fear he might sink one of the good prospects like Beckham or Jor Danks if he doesn't like him? KW better stick up for Beckham, because the way Ozzie has been handling him in the press is pathetic so far.

QUOTE (TitoMB345 @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 09:58 PM) Wise, Fields, and Anderson all should be gone by tomorrow, but will probably be here til next year. If Wise isn't gone come Wednesday, then something is seriously wrong with this organization.
  3. Oh, and wouldn't Swisher have looked good in CF this year?
  4. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 08:49 PM) Well at least the game 2 thread will have one less pessimist as I'll be at the game tonight. It likely won't be a pretty sight. I sense a ton of booing at the park if Contreras tanks.
  5. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 09:45 PM) Ozzie Guillen is proving to be a brutal in game manager. Why are defensive replacements never an option? Wise and Fields suck there is no reason why Anderson and Nix are not in there for defensive reasons. They each should have hit in the 8th as they can hit fastballs they can not hit breaking pithces. He picked a bad game to have by far his worst managerial game of the season. I swear he thought the 8th was the 7th, and the 9th was the 8th. Maybe he'll threaten to quit soon?
  6. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 09:44 PM) Meh. Of all things to complain about this doesn't make the top 10 list. The lower part of their order was coming up and Jenks sucks in non-save situations. 3/4/5 for Tigers was up. There is no one in baseball pitching better than Thornton, and we're saving him for what? The Tigers only have one lefty anyways.
  7. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 08:40 PM) Uh you do realize we gave them extra outs this inning? Doesn't matter, if we lose in the 9th, it should be with our 2 best (and I think we all agree that those 2 are Thornton and Jenks). Knowing Ozzie, he'll say we were sving them for the second game.
  8. Just remember, if we even had a manager that had a clue, Fields wouldn't have been in the game to get their rally started.
  9. I can't believe we didn't pitch Thornton or Jenks this inning. The biggest game of our season to this point, and we went with our 4th best reliever (I don't care what stats say, Linebrink has not looked overly sharp this year).
  10. QUOTE (Friend of Nordhagen @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 09:37 PM) And this inning shows Ramirez as a shortstop, in a nutshell -- awesome range to his left, zero range to his right. Yep, it's been that way all year. It's scary too, as he plays everyone so far up the middle.
  11. QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 08:33 PM) Also, I wouldn't put Bacon up there against a 101 mph thrower either. Jeez people...he just came up. He has the bat speed to catch up to that pitch. Something that can't be said about Fields or Wise.
  12. Linebrink? Interesting, as Ozzie always uses Jenks in this situation. Does he know it's the 9th, and not the 8th?
  13. fathom replied to Buehrle>Wood's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I hate bunting with a fast guy on first base so much. If you want to do anything, do a protective hit-and-run. The only time to bunt is if you get a guy on 2nd and no outs in a tie game in the 8th or 9th.
  14. Where's Farnsy on the Tigers when we need him?
  15. It's like our manager doesn't even watch our games. Fields against Zumaya is the most guaranteed strike out in baseball.
  16. I can't believe Ozzie's letting Fields bat. He must really hate Beckham.
  17. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 08:21 PM) lets face facts: the winner of the al central is the sacrificial lamb No way, not with the Tigers front of the rotation if they make it and stay healthy.
  18. QUOTE (daa84 @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 08:21 PM) konerko used to be able to turn Zumaya around....im less than confident of that now Welcome to my world the other day
  19. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 08:20 PM) yet if he had hit into a dp or flied out without atempting to bunt everyone would be saying why wasnt he bunting... Bulls***! How many people do you ever see on here post "wow, I wish we would bunt more"?
  20. Carrasco really needs to get a shot at starting.
  21. Assuming we see Zumaya and Rodney, Ozzie better not even think about letting Fields face them.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 08:16 PM) Once again, the middle of the order falls on its face. They can't even move up the lead off hit, they need a wild pitch to do it. 2 for last 49 with RISP. This is eerily similar to our stretch of 0 for against relief pitchers in 2007.
  23. Brilliant managing that inning. I can't believe Ozzie called for the bunt there.
  24. So Pods gets on base with a righty on the mound....why isn't he trying to steal instead of wasting the bunt?
  25. I HATE THE BUNT! When your team can't get a hit with RISP, you never, ever give up outs. Go to the NL please Ozzie.
