  1. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Apr 15, 2009 -> 07:52 PM) The bigger problem is our best offensive chance in the game involved Brian Anderson and Brent Lillibridge batting. That is going to tend to lead to problems, even if a lefty were on the mound. I'll take my chances with Anderson against a LHP. With regards to Lillibridge, I wouldn't feel good about his chances if a 13 yr old was on the mound.
  2. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Apr 15, 2009 -> 07:49 PM) Don't ask me why but this game is making more angry than any game in a long time for some reason. Even more than the Minny series. It makes no sense. Why though..the match-up obviously didn't favor the Sox. Tigers also had chances, as they squandered 2nd and 3rd with no outs. Guys like Anderson, Ramirez, and Lillibridge aren't going to get it done right now against a tough righty.
  3. QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Apr 15, 2009 -> 07:49 PM) This is just pathetic What were people expecting? You play 7 righties against a pitcher who destroys them, and you're not going to have a lot of offense. We need Getz back ASAP, because we have one of the worst hitters in baseball getting the most at bats.
  4. Even if we lose today, I think it's been a positive game. Contreras looked significantly better today than he did against the Twins last week.
  5. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 15, 2009 -> 07:47 PM) Would never want Swisher in CF. Hudson in CF would have been fine with me...although I don't think he would have signed here in the tougher league and having to play a new position on a one year contract while waiting for the economy to improve. How about this one...Swisher is better defensively in CF than Pods, no doubt about it.
  6. QUOTE (Soxpranos @ Apr 15, 2009 -> 07:46 PM) Yeah, for Carlos Gomez Are you Hawk Harrelson? You believe in the Crede and Gomez myth it seems.
  7. It sucks knowing that with an extra 10 mil to spend, we could have signed Hudson to play 2B and have Swisher in CF this season. Those two holes are so glaring.
  8. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 15, 2009 -> 07:31 PM) I really hope Nix comes up and Lilli gets the hell out of here. He's not MLB caliber, and it's a disgrace he's on this roster.
  9. Seems like a real tough match-up for the Sox today. It's too bad we didn't face Porcello, who is a great match-up for our hitters.
  10. Would you be shocked to know Javy Vazquez pitched around Gload last night to load the bases for the superior Dan Uggla, and Uggla had a 2 out 2 RBI single?
  11. Just to back up what I was saying, Galarraga held righties to an astounding .174 batting average last year, while lefties hit .267.
  12. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 15, 2009 -> 05:40 PM) You really want to sit Betemit or Konerko the way they're hitting? I'd have no problem giving Betemit the start at 3B today. We're going to need offense with Contreras on the mound today, that's pretty much guaranteed.
  13. Not a fan of this righty dominant lineup, as Galarraga is one of the toughest pitchers in all of baseball against righties. This would have been a good game to get Betemit in the lineup, but I guess he's going to only start against LHP (yuck).
  14. QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 15, 2009 -> 03:44 AM) Awful managing by Gaston. /beats fathom to manager rip Didn't see it...what did Gaston do? That Clutch Crede strikes again. What's that, one hit in 6 clutch situations?
  15. QUOTE (knightni @ Apr 15, 2009 -> 02:26 AM) Will they skip Jose for Colon? Nope, Contreras goes tomorrow. Tough game, as Galarraga looked great last time out.
  16. And Chris Carpenter got hurt. That didn't last long.
  17. The last paragraph by Ozzie is just begging for Kalapse to prove incorrect.
  18. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Apr 15, 2009 -> 12:57 AM) He's on the Yankees. He's probably back on steroids. I like it...that can't be our defense mechanism this year to justify the trade.
  19. 3 of their first 7 batters have homered tonight.
  20. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 14, 2009 -> 06:30 PM) I have and I'll stick to that. If we were talking about LF it'd be a different story, but we're talking about cf and I'd rather have Wise or Owens at this point, true story. I would rather have Wise in CF than Pods both offensively and defensively.
  21. QUOTE (Capn12 @ Apr 14, 2009 -> 06:18 PM) Jesus H. Christ on a popsicle stick... Are you serious? Why... Hell, I guess if nothing else, my avatar and Tag title are now meaningful again! You and I tried, but it's like an awful mother-in-law....it's always lurking
  22. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 14, 2009 -> 06:11 PM) I'm going to disagree that Pods is an upgrade over Owens and Wise just for the fact that Pods in CF might be the scariest thing in the world. This move worries me as I think he's going to take some playing time away from Anderson and having Pods out in center at all is just a disaster waiting to happen. I think the scarier thing is Ozzie's trust level in Pods, and the potential for him to get way too much playing time. With that said, I'm excited, as it will be entertaining as hell on here with Pods playing.
  23. Yep, this is a blessing in disguise, as you don't want to overwork the bullpen with all the consecutive games.
