  1. QUOTE (tommy @ Apr 12, 2009 -> 07:30 PM) I know its really early but I enjoyed the game yesterday where I didn't have to watch Thome, Dye, Paulie swing at the fences in that order. Those 3 absolutely have to be broken up from batting in succession.
  2. Thome's pitch recognition is real poor right now. He swung at a 3-0 pitch in the dirt.
  3. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Apr 12, 2009 -> 03:27 AM) Marmol is sensational. Everyone else in that bullpen is not. He's not going to be able to pitch every game though. 4 appearances in 5 games for him.
  4. Ryan Braun just missed two of the easiest hanging sliders you'll ever see. Also, who the hell did Carlos Marmol sleep with? He gets more close calls from umpires than anyone in baseball.
  5. Unreal...since when has Soriano been clutch? You have to bounce that first pitch up to him.
  6. Cubs tie it in the 7th on a play that wasn't even close at first, but they called Soriano safe.
  7. Brewers leaving Bush in to die. He's the king of late inning crooked numbers, but I guess they decided to let him lose the game for them.
  8. Terrible...Ozzie doesn't bring in Thornton to face the lefty but brings him in to face the switch hitter?
  9. QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Apr 11, 2009 -> 09:39 PM) gotta catch those. What happened?
  10. One of these years, KW will acquire a bench player who can actually hit lefties. Facing tough lefties is never fun, but with the crap on our bench this year, it's going to be worse than ever.
  11. For those watching, would you say Colon looks better than Contreras did?
  12. QUOTE (SoxFanForever @ Apr 11, 2009 -> 09:26 PM) Sittin around 88-91 according to the Fox gun. I could have sworn that Sox brass said Contreras and Colon were hitting 93 mph regularly in Arizona. Hopefully these guys know what they're doing, and the Sox weren't just trying to get our hopes up.
  13. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Apr 11, 2009 -> 08:21 PM) And yeah, because I didn't have an opportunity to complain yesterday I have to say now that the offense was atrocious yesterday. Dickey wasn't throwing a knuckleball -- he was throwing a god damn hanging curveball. It was one of the weakest knuckleballs I've ever seen, and that we had 3 runs against that bum was embarrassing. Didn't help that Thome looked like a pitcher against that knuckler.
  14. I'm at work, so please try to keep the posts as descriptive as possible.
  15. QUOTE (shipps @ Apr 11, 2009 -> 07:00 PM) Totally agree. I am just enjoying baseball being back that I will not let a couple bad games ruin it for me. Cant you guys just leave the emotions aside for the first week or two? Hey, the Cubs were 1-3 last year also!!
  16. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 11, 2009 -> 06:32 PM) Shelby, Beckham, Flowers, Allen, Cook, Viciedo, Gartrell and Retherford would generate more offense against the Liriano/Twins than our major league line-up. Quite the exaggeration. This lineup isn't good today, but that's the problem when you have a terrible back-up catcher and utility player. I'm as pessimistic and passionate as anyone, but people seem to be in freak out mode way too early right now.
  17. Split-squad lineups are fun! I wonder what inning Miguel Negron will come in and if we'll see Viciedo and/or Slayer get an at bat.
  18. QUOTE (BearSox @ Apr 11, 2009 -> 04:51 PM) I'm gonna be pissed if we see Getz and A.J. out of the lineup. However, we'll probably see a lineup of: 1. Anderson, CF 2. Fields, 3B 3. Quentin, LF 4. Thome, DH 5. Dye, RF 6. Konerko, 1B 7. Ramirez, SS 8. Miller, C 9. Lillibridge/Betemit, 2B I'll gladly go a game with AJP out of the lineup.
  19. QUOTE (shipps @ Apr 11, 2009 -> 03:31 PM) Bart, please give me an Easter miracle today and pitch a solid game. I'm fine with a loss today if Bartolo can show some life on his pitches. The most disturbing thing about yesterday's game wasn't the final score, but rather how little life Contreras had on his fastball. Unless Jose's mythological cutter makes an appearance, I can't see him having any success against lefty hitters.
  20. QUOTE (Sox It To Em @ Apr 11, 2009 -> 03:22 AM) A Lillibridge + Miller + Anderson combo against Liriano should be fun. Can it just rain tomorrow and Sunday?
  21. QUOTE (daa84 @ Apr 11, 2009 -> 03:10 AM) was just gonna say teh exact same thing...he only gave up 3 last year, and 2 in 07.... I know 2 of those were in the last month of the year to Ordonez and Brandon Wood.
  22. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 11, 2009 -> 03:10 AM) Jeff Nelson? Aug. Montero? Sean Tracey? David Aardsma? How can MacDougal have a 95-97 MPH fastball and have NO confidence in it at all??? We'll never figure it out I guess....he just throws slider after slider. His fastball is around 92 mph these days. That plus fastball was in KC during a different era in baseball. MacDougal is a mental midget though, as I've heard he makes Jenks seem like a rocket scientist.
  23. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Apr 11, 2009 -> 03:07 AM) Regardless of what people say, he did not induce any more ground balls than usual last year. Remember how it was almost impossible to homer off of Jenks? Over the last month of last year, it seemed to happen a lot more often.
